NHTSA campaign 13V050000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Keystone RV Company: Equipment › Other › Labels

Keystone RV Company reported this defect to federal regulators on Feb 15, 2013 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 37. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling certain model 2013 Springdale 266RLSSR and 267BHSSR Travel Trailers, manufactured from November 19, 2012, through February 5, 2013. These vehicles were manufactured with the incorrect information on the Federal Identification Tag and Tire and Loading Information Label. The tire inflation pressure is incorrectly listed as 448 KPA (65 PSI) instead of 345 KPA (50 PSI). Thus, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 120, "Tire Selection and Rims for Motor Vehicles Other Than Passenger Cars."

The risk

Owners relying on the information contained on the label may overinflate the tires, which may result in sudden tire failure, which may increase the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Keystone will notify owners and provide corrected labels. The recall began on February 27, 2013. Owners may contact Keystone RV Company at 1-866-425-4369.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 13V050000.
