NHTSA campaign 13V034000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Wilson Trailer Company: Equipment

Wilson Trailer Company reported this defect to federal regulators on Jan 30, 2013 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 556. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Wilson Trailer Company (Wilson Trailer) is recalling certain model year 2007-2013 livestock trailers manufactured from January 2, 2007, through November 30, 2012, and equipped with a lift deck in the nose compartment. The plastic deck guides on the lift deck in the nose compartment can fail to provide proper tracking of the deck when it is raised and lowered.

The risk

Failure of these guides to provide containment could allow the lift deck to shift to one side causing the deck to fall past the permanent deck support rails, increasing the risk of damage to property inside the trailer.

The remedy

Wilson Trailer will notify owners, and dealers will repair the trailers free of charge. The recall began on February 21, 2013. Owners may contact Wilson Trailer at 1-800-798-2002.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 13V034000.
