NHTSA campaign 13V006000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Autocar Industries, LLC: Seat Belts

Autocar Industries, LLC reported this defect to federal regulators on Jan 9, 2013 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 80. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Autocar Industries, LLC is recalling certain model year 2012 Xpert vehicles manufactured October 17, 2011, through September 17, 2012; and with serial numbers in the range 213522 through 215336. The seat belt anchorages fail to sustain the 3000 pound forces for the specified length of time. Therefore, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages."

The risk

In the event of a crash, an insufficient seat belt anchorage may prevent the seat belt from properly restraining the occupant. This increases the risk of injury to the seat occupant.

The remedy

Autocar will notify owners, and dealers will repair the seat belts, free of charge. The recall began on March 1, 2013. Owners may contact Autocar at 1-765-489-5499.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 13V006000.
