Winnebago Industries Inc.: Steering
Winnebago Industries Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Sep 14, 2012 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 2. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Winnebago is recalling a model year 2013 Winnebago and 2013 Itasca motor home built on a Ford F-53 chassis. The steering gear bracket may have been secured with nuts that may damage the bolts due to an incompatibility between the installation torque and the nut finish.
The risk
The bolts may fracture, leading to separation of the steering gear and thus a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
These vehicles have been repaired prior to being sold, therefore an owner notification notice will not be issued. Consumers may contact Winnebago Industries owner relations at 1-641-585-6939.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 12V453000.
