Vermeer Manufacturing Company: Service Brakes, Air › Supply › Hoses, Lines/Piping, and Fittings
Vermeer Manufacturing Company reported this defect to federal regulators on Aug 31, 2012 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 18. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Vermeer is recalling certain model year 2010-2012 R9X12T drilling fluid reclaimer trailers manufactured from March 01, 2010, through August 03, 2012. Due to interference between the air brake hoses and the frame cross-member at the rear axle, the air brake hose may become pinched or be damaged, resulting in the loss of air pressure to the air brakes.
The risk
A loss of air pressure to the air brakes can result in a loss of service brakes, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Vermeer will notify owners, and dealers will re-reroute the air brake hose, free of charge. The recall began on September 27, 2012. Owners may contact Vermeer at 641-628-3141.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 12V425000.
