Pj Trailers: Power Train › Axle Assembly
Pj Trailers reported this defect to federal regulators on Oct 20, 2011 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 1,917. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
PJ TRAILERS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 FLATBED TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH A 15 3/4" OR A 21 3/4" EQUALIZER FOR 10K/12K SPRING AXLES. THE WELDS ON THE TOP OF THE EQUALIZER THAT HOLD THE BUSHING THROUGH WHICH THE EQUALIZER BOLTS TO THE TRAILER WERE NOT PROPERLY WELDED AND CAN FAIL CAUSING THE AXLE TO DETACH FROM THE TRAILER.
The risk
AXLE DETACHMENT COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
The remedy
PJ TRAILERS WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPAIR THE TRAILERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 7, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT PJ TRAILERS AT 1-903-669-0213.
