NHTSA campaign 05V563000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Triple E Recreational Vehicles: Equipment › Other › Labels

Triple E Recreational Vehicles reported this defect to federal regulators on Dec 20, 2005 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 14. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 207, "SEATING SYSTEMS." VEHICLE SEATS THAT DO NOT HAVE A SEAT BELT MUST HAVE A DECAL ON THE SEATING LOCATION THAT STATES: "THIS SEAT NOT FOR OCCUPANCY WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION." THESE LABELS ARE MISSING.

The risk

IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, A SEAT OCCUPANT MAY NOT BE PROPERLY RESTRAINED IF USING SEATS WHICH DO NOT HAVE SEAT BELTS, INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY.

The remedy

OWNERS WILL BE PROVIDED WITH CORRECTED LABELS AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FREE OF CHARGE. AT THE CUSTOMER'S OPTION, A DEALER CAN INSTALL THE LABEL FOR THEM. THE RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 13, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TRIPLE E RV AT 204-325-4361.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 05V563000.
