Defect. Polestar Automotive USA, Inc. (Polestar) is recalling certain 2021-2025 Polestar 2 vehicles. The rearview camera image may not display when the vehicle is placed in reverse.

Risk. A rearview camera image that does not display reduces the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will update the vehicle software, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed June 4, 2026. Owners may contact Polestar's customer service at 1-800-806-2504. Polestar's number for this recall is RP1069. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning April 20, 2026. This recall replaces previous NHTSA recalls 24V477 and 25V280. Vehicles previously repaired under those recalls will need to have the new remedy performed.

Defect. Polestar Automotive USA, Inc. (Polestar) is recalling certain 2021 and 2024 Polestar 2 vehicles. In certain driving scenarios while coasting down a hill and using "One Pedal Drive," the vehicle may lose brake function.

Risk. A loss of brake function increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Owners are advised not to use "One Pedal Drive" until the repair has been completed. Polestar has released an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 18, 2025. Owners may contact Polestar's customer service at 1-800-806-2504. Polestar's number for this recall is RP1061.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Risk. A rearview camera image that does not display reduces the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will update the vehicle software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 20, 2025. Owners may contact Polestar's customer service at 1-800-806-2504. Polestar's number for this recall is RP1056. Vehicles in this recall that were previously repaired under 24V-477 will need to have the new remedy completed.

Defect. Polestar Automotive USA, Inc. (Polestar) is recalling certain 2024 Polestar 2 electric vehicles. The clamps may be improperly crimped on the driver's side inner far side air bag module (FSAB), which can cause the air bag to deploy improperly.

Risk. An air bag that deploys improperly may not protect the driver as intended during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the driver's side inner FSAB, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 17, 2025. Owners may contact Polestar customer service at 1-800-806-2504. Polestar's number for this recall is RP1044.

Defect. Polestar Automotive USA, Inc. (Polestar) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Polestar 2 vehicles. The Infotainment Head Unit (IHU) software may prevent the rearview camera image from displaying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Risk. A rearview camera image that does not display decreases the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Polestar has released an over-the-air IHU software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 9, 2024. Owners may contact Polestar customer service at 1-800-806-2504. Polestar's number for this recall is RP1016.

A 2024 Polestar 2 electric vehicle was purchased used from a dealership. At the time of purchase the eCall service light was illuminated. The dealership dismissed the warning light as nothing to be concerned about. The selling dealership had access to a vehicle history report showing a prior accident and performed a pre-delivery inspection before the sale, yet failed to identify or disclose the standing water, exposed wiring, or non-functioning eCall emergency system. After purchase the vehicle was driven for approximately two weeks before being brought to an authorized Polestar service center for diagnosis. During inspection the service center discovered approximately one inch of standing water pooled under the trunk area and exposed wiring in the rear of the vehicle — conditions creating a genuine safety hazard in an electric vehicle where standing water near electrical components creates risk of electrocution or fire. The vehicle spent 118 days at the service center. The root cause was identified as two wire pins installed backwards in the Connectivity CAN network at the VGM — caused by negligent repair following a prior rear end collision. The improper repair also caused water intrusion through compromised body panel seams and wheelhouse exhaust vents. The safety hazard of standing water combined with exposed wiring in an electric vehicle was present and unknown to the owner for approximately two weeks of operation. The damage has been confirmed by the authorized Polestar

Leased vehicle 7-25-24. Driver’s rear tire had ongoing slow leak beginning several months after start of lease. We filled with air and reset stored tire pressure. This would last a couple months and same tire would begin to lose some pressure again. Finally at our 20,000 mile scheduled checkup, Polestar service advised to purchase a new tire, which we did, 3/19/26. The car was delivered back to us within a couple of days. On 5/7/26, that same tire completely blew out while driving on the freeway. Was able to exit freeway without an accident, but driving on rim. Towed to Polestar service who diagnosed rim cracked. Both tire and rim completely replaced. Though we paid 5/18/26 (see invoice), we did not receive car as we had to wait for insurance inspection which took a very long time for Polestar and insurance to connect - both poor communication. We ended up doing all their legwork. Finally received car back approximately one month later, after 6/1/26. We discovered within a couple days that the tire sensor system was not working, when it worked prior to the repair. Also key fobs didn’t work. Within 2-3 weeks, the same tire was leaking again, visibly lower than the other tires. Asked Polestar roadside service to pickup vehicle 6/29/26. We were notified that there was some ‘piece of metal’ in the tire and the tire could not be patched because the tire was driven on while low, which of course we did not know because the tire sensor system was not functioning properly. Here we are

Michelin primacy all season 245/45r/19 102v Both rear tires cannot support the load of an rear wheel drive electric vehicle. Both tires wore through the tread at less than 20k miles. Warranty states they are good for 45k. Had to have tires replaced before they caused serious damage to the vehicle, occupants of the vehicle, or the other drivers on the road.

Purchased a used 2024 Polestar from Kia Van Nuys, CA on 5/18/2026. The Acknowledgement Regarding Recalls form noted that "The Report indicates that the Vehicle is NOT subject to an open recall at this time. I was having difficulty with the vehicle i.e charging, Internet connection and electronic driver information feedback. I took the vehicle to the Polestar service center on June 1, 2026 and found that the previous 2 recalls for TCAM Reload and a recall on VIDA soft wear version 4.2.13 which required a total soft wear update.

After installing the recent software update (version 5.0.10) that was intended to fix the rear camera not appearing when shifting into reverse, my vehicle has continued to experience the same problem, now with significantly increased frequency. Nearly every day--sometimes multiple times a day--the infotainment system/center screen will fail to boot up before shifting into reverse and the camera view will not appear. The gap between starting the vehicle, the system booting up, and the camera appearing, varies every time, sometimes up to 60 seconds. Occasionally, the center screen will remain black, with no indication that the system is booting up, for up to 30 seconds after starting the vehicle, even though the screen should wake up immediately upon starting. The issue first occurred the day after installing the update (April 10, 2026), but has recurred nearly every single day since then, up until and including the day I submitted this report. The issue has been exacerbated by the increased summer heat in Arizona, leading me to believe the computer--besides lacking required processing power & memory--is not adequately cooled. The earliest available appointment to have the issue checked out was July 14, 2026, so the vehicle has not yet been inspected. No warning lamps or related symptoms. All 5 attached pictures were taken after the vehicle was shifted into reverse.

On 03/29/2026 at approximately 11:00 AM, I was driving my 2024 Polestar 2 southbound on [XXX] near [XXX] in the center lane at approximately 80 mph in heavy traffic. Without any prior warning — no vibration, no TPMS alert, no unusual noise, no warning lamps or messages of any kind — the left rear tire suffered a catastrophic tread/belt separation. The tire is a Continental original equipment tire, size 245/40R20, with ContiSilent acoustic foam lining and POL1 Polestar-specific markings. DOT number: [XXX] , manufactured week 17 of 2023 at Continental's [XXX] plant. The tire was factory-installed original equipment and had never been removed or remounted. The entire center tread band delaminated from the tire carcass in a single explosive event. I heard a loud bang and immediately lost control of the vehicle. The rear end spun out and the vehicle crossed two lanes of heavy high-speed highway traffic before coming to rest on the shoulder. CHP responded to the scene and filed a report. I was not struck by any other vehicle. No injuries. No vehicle body damage. However the failure created an extreme risk of death or serious injury to myself and to other motorists in adjacent lanes at highway speed. The failed tire is preserved at the authorized Polestar dealership and is available for inspection upon request. Photographic documentation exists showing textbook belt edge separation: the shoulder tread remains attached on both sides while the entire center section has cleanly separat

On a high humidity evening all of the windows fogged up but the climate system was completely unavailable to use. All of the buttons were “greyed out” and I could not operate the front or rear defroster. As a result, I had zero visibility a few moments after I started driving. I immediately had to pull over and look up how to reset the computer system that controls most of the car’s functions, which took several minutes to figure out. There should never be a situation where you cannot turn on the defroster because of a software glitch.

Intermittent issue where the rear view backup camera does not appear on screen. I receive a message of "camera temporarily unavailable." Even when shifting to another gear then back to Reverse, the camera will still not work and the same message will appear. I have the latest software update that was supposed to address this already-recalled issue (verison 3.6.4).

Rear view camera suddenly stopped working. The same problem happened 3 weeks back and Polestat sent a software update that is supposed to fix the issue. Read view camera worked for sometime, but again it is not working. In fact, no camera is working in this vehicle.

The manafactuer distributed a software update to correct issues regarding reverse camera settings. This update has not corrected the issue in my polestar and, in fact, has caused many other disturbances forcing me to seek service at a the closest dealership. When reversing, it will activate the emergency stop function, which has caused much anxiety and stress because not only are the parking sensors nonfunctional, but the thought of the emergency breaks being activated without threat or my regard again is distressing and misleading.

The mirrors on the car sometimes dont tilt back up when chnaging gears from reverse to drive , leading to limited visibility

360 degree view and backup camera stutters/not available after starting vehicle. Occurred after recall software update that was supposed to address this.

Backup camera starts flashing black while backing up and sometimes doesn't turn on while backing up

Back up camera repeatedly blanks out. Sometimes will not start. Sometimes stops working in the middle of when I'm backing up. Also Rear auto braking is too sensitive and will often slam the emergency brakes for no reason.

Backup and 360 camera fails intermittently

I would go into reverse and the camera would appear but then disappear as I’m backing up. No more blinking or telling me I am about to crash. Even 3D camera doesn’t work. Drivetrain feels very strange since last OTA update. Making weird noises when driving. Battery sounds like it’s screaming. Something is really wrong.

The rear camera does not always engage when the car is put into reverse. The car was just recalled for it, of which I just received a notice and the update (3.6.4), and it has not fixed the issue; it has only gotten worse.

Back up camera does not always work. Says "camera not available" even after the most recent software update.

Backup camera will periodically go blank and not work. The camera will also sometimes switch to 360 camera mode unpredictably. Polestar does have a documented recall for this camera not functioning correctly. A fix for the issue doesn't seem like it's coming soon.

Backup camera regularly fails to respond in time when powering on the car. Sometimes takes numerous times to enter in and out of reverse. Sometimes the rear view backup camera reverts to overhead 360 camera view without intervention, making it difficult to see in the rear. Polestar has made updates to the software via OTA updates that have tried to address this by reducing memory use during car boot up, but it’s very clear that the head units in polestar 2s up until at least my model year MY24 are severely underpowered and unable to properly switch contexts in an appropriate amount of time. As a result of this the rear cross traffic alert is also frequently delayed and therefore essentially useless as a feature. And finally I’ve also had numerous false auto braking on slanted surfaces, jolting myself and other passengers in the vehicle unexpectedly.
