Defect. THE FUEL TANK STRAP CAN BREAK ALLOWING A SLIGHT UPWARD MOVEMENT OF THE TANK. A DUAL FUEL TANK STRAP BREAKAGE CAN ALSO ALLOW THE TANK TO SLIDE FORWARD OR REARWARD.
Risk. MOVEMENT OF THE FUEL TANK CAN ALLOW DIESEL FUEL TO LEAK, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE FIRE.
Remedy. THE TOP FUEL TANK STRAP WILL BE REPLACED WITH A REDESIGNED, THICKER STRAP.
Defect. METRIC GRADE 8.8 BOLTS WERE MIXED IN INVENTORY WITH METRIC GRADE 10.9 BOLTS. INCORRECT GRADE BOLTS (8.8) WERE USED IN ATTACHING THE 710 SAGINAW STEERING GEAR TO THE FRAME.
Risk. THE USE OF INCORRECT BOLTS CAN CAUSE THE STEERING GEAR TO SEPARATE FROM THE FRAME CAUSING A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL, INCREASING THE POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.
Remedy. DEALERS WILL REPLACE ALL METRIC GRADE 8.8 BOLTS WITH THE CORRECT METRIC GRADE 10.9 BOLTS, LOCTITE WILL BE INSTALLED INTO THE BOLT HOLE, AND THE BOLTS WILL BE TORQUED TO SPECIFICATION.
