Defect. EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION: GAS/ELECTRIC ABSORPTION REFRIGERATORS USED IN RECREATIONAL VEHICLES AND CAMPING TRAILERS. THE SWIVEL NUT WHICH IS AN INTEGRAL CONNECTION COMPONENT OF A PRESSURE TAP DEVICE HAS "STRESS CORROSION CRACKING."

Risk. THIS CRACKING CAN LEAD TO AN OPEN FRACTURE IN THE BRASS NUT, POTENTIALLY ALLOWING PROPANE GAS TO LEAK.

Remedy. DEALERS WILL REMOVE THE SWIVEL NUT/PRESSURE TAP COMPONENT AND REPLACE WITH A REMEDY KIT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A NORCOLD N300 REFRIGERATOR THAT WAS BEING USED IN A 2014 COLEMAN TRAVEL TRAILER (N/A). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A STRONG ODER COMING FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DETECTED A CARBON MONOXIDE LEAK COMING FROM THE REFRIGERATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE.
