2023 Mercedes-Benz Redundant EQS 450

Defect. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2023-2024 C300, AMG C43, S580e, S580, Maybach S580, Maybach S680, AMG SL43, AMGSL63, GLC300, EQE350, EQE500, EQS450, EQS580, AMG EQS, 2023 S500, AMG SL55, AMG EQE, 2024 E350, E450, AMG C63e S, CLE300 Coupe, CLE450 Coupe, and GLC300 Coupe vehicles. The 80-Amp fuses may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can cause the fuses to fail.

Risk. An 80-Amp fuse that fails can result in a sudden loss of drive power or a loss of critical safety functions such as the restraint systems or instrument cluster, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. Additionally, there could be an increased risk of a fire.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the main fuse boxes, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 5, 2024. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2024030008.

The vehicle went to catch on fire and the electrical socket burnt so it could no longer charge. The airbag showed malfunction passenger side door. Multiple times the collision warning has malfunction and alerted there was a collision when none occurred.

Active Emergency Stop Assist Inoperative warning has shown up more than once and the dealer can not duplicate the warning or repair. It is causing frequent phantom braking and sudden stops both in normal driving use and cruise control.

Car turns off completely while driving with "Battery malfunction" and "Towing not permitted" error. This happened while driving on a highway at the end of a bridge going downhill so I was able to pullover to the shoulder before the vehicle came to complete stop but if this happened while on the bridge going uphill, that could've been extremely dangerous as there was no shoulder to pull over to. This has happened about 5 times already and we've taken it to the dealership. They upgraded the vehicle's software at one point saying that would address the issue, but the issue keeps happening. I don't feel safe driving this vehicle knowing that the vehicle can come to a complete stop at any time without any warning.

After a visual inspection, the contact observed that the charging port appeared to be damaged, showing signs consistent with electrical burns. The messages "Charging station fault" and "Limited availability" were displayed. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not yet diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V372000 (Electrical System); but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 16,000. The VIN was not available.

The contact owns a 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS450. The contact stated while driving over a bump in the roadway and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to immediately stop, causing the braking distance to become extended. The contact stated that the failure occasionally occurred while braking without driving over a bump in the roadway. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 1,000.

So I've had to have 1 tire replaced already working on number 2. First one not sure what the problem was, but this tire is having problems holding air. It'll hold air for about 9 hours then the gauge on inside of car comes in saying low tire pressure.
