A brand new 40,000 lb rated commercial trailer was picked up at the MAXEY Trailer Mfg in Brookstone, TX on June June 18th, 2021 on the 300 mile trip home the trailer “sheared” off the brake lines leaving the empty trailer with no brakes. Upon inspection of the trailer it was found the axles and frame had “sheared” off the brake line. Major design flaw, when manufacturer was contacted we were told by the R&D Dept. to “reroute” the brake lines and it would be “fine”. We have the emails in hand from them. After running new brake lines we found steel brake line “leaks” upon inspection the steel brake lines on the trailer were not “double flared” they were home made “single flare” brake lines. So we have a major design flaw the manufacturer refuses to acknowledge that caused a total brake failure and a illegal steel brake lines that failed. Luckily it was empty and nobody was hurt and or killed, if this had taken place with a 40,000 lb load on it the outcome would have been different. Every trailer on the road like this one is a hazard to everyone else on the road.
