2014 Maserati Ghibli

Defect. Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain 2014-2015 Maserati Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles. During production of the fuel lines, the lines may have been damaged, possibly resulting in a fuel leak.

Risk. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel line assemblies, free of charge, unless previously repaired under recall 17V-045. The recall began January 15, 2019. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 378. Note: This recall supersedes recall number 17V-045.

Defect. Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Quattroporte and Ghibli, and 2017 Levante vehicles. Adjusting the front seats may cause the seat wiring harness to rub, possibly resulting in an electrical short.

Risk. An electrical short can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles, replacing the seat wiring harness, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began June 26, 2017. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 342.

Defect. Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain model year 2014 Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles manufactured June 1, 2013, to February 28, 2014. The affected vehicles, equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a monostable gear selector, may mislead owners about which gear the vehicle is in and may not adequately warn the driver when driver's door is opened and the vehicle is not in PARK, allowing them to exit the vehicle while the vehicle is still in gear.

Risk. Drivers thinking that their vehicle's transmission is in the PARK position may be struck by the vehicle and injured if they attempt to get out of the vehicle while the engine is running and the parking brake is not engaged.

Remedy. Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will perform a software update, free of charge. The remedy software is currently in development. Owners were mailed an interim notification on July 1, 2016. A second notice will be mailed when the software is available. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Defect. Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles manufactured February 1, 2013, to September 18, 2015. During the assembly process, the rear tie-rod to hub assembly attaching bolt may not have been properly tightened.

Risk. An improperly tightened rear tie-rod to hub carrier assembly attaching bolt may allow the tie-rod to separate from the hub carrier, resulting in a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the left and right rear tie-rod to hub carrier assembly attaching bolts to verify that they are properly tightened, replacing the rear tie-rod to hub carrier assembly as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during July 2016. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 303.

Defect. Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles manufactured February 1, 2013, to November 30, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the driver-side floor mat anchor may break allowing the floor mat to move and get trapped between the accelerator pedal and the vehicle carpet.

Risk. If the floor mat moves and becomes trapped between the accelerator and the vehicle carpet, it may result in very high vehicle speeds, which could cause a crash, serious injury or death.

Remedy. Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver-side floor mat and possibly the accelerator pedal cover, free of charge. The recall began April 29, 2016. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 301. Note: These vehicles are equipped with a brake override system. In the event a pedal is trapped, pushing on the brake pedal will brake the vehicle and enable the driver to slow and stop and turn off the vehicle.

Defect. Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Quattroporte, and Ghibli vehicles manufactured July 23, 2014, to August 7, 2014. The fuel delivery hoses in the vehicles may have been improperly crimped.

Risk. The improper crimp can cause a fuel leak and, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire.

Remedy. Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will replace the entire fuel delivery line, free of charge. The recall began in October 2014. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 256.

The contact owns a 2014 Maserati Ghibli. The contact stated that on one occasion while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the motherboard control unit was defective due to an unlocated leak. The vehicle was then taken to an auto body shop where it was diagnosed that the failure cause was due to a leak near the front passenger’s side windshield frame that was not welded properly. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

The 2014 Maserati Ghibli with VIN number [XXX] has been experiencing significant wiring issues, which have resulted in the car shutting off unexpectedly while driving this is a danger to drivers because as the car shuts off steering the vehicle is almost impossible brakes barely work and the car just rolls until it stops manufacturer/dealer replicated the problem and fixed it for a whooping $5300 there were absolutely no warning lamps,error messages etc dealer states "engine injection wiring harness" and angolar speed sensor per dealer notes "the engine was intermittently loosing power. The contact owns a 2014 Maserati Ghibli. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer where a manufacturer recall was performed and the front driver's side mat and accelerator pedal were replaced; however, the contact stated that while driving, the front driver's side floor mat hooks failed. As a result, the front driver's side floor mat slipped underneath the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal and almost caused an accident. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the floor mat and hooks needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the recall was closed and advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000

During a diagnostic performed at the Maserati dealership to repair parking brake failure, it was determined that the right strut tower/dome has a large crack. The vehicle has not been in any major accidents or driven over any potholes and it appears that this happened spontaneously. There were no warning lights to signal this issue. During the diagnostic it was also found that all 4 tires were bald, control arms needed to be replaced and the car was out of alignment. I have only driven the car approximately 7,000 miles since purchasing it used and the car was delivered with new tires and a flawless 150 point inspection from the dealer. This deformity has major safety concerns as it affects the suspension, alignment, tires and creates unsafe driving conditions. I asked the Maserati dealership and Maserati USA if this vehicle was involved in Service Campaign 268 for possible deformation of the dome, but was told it was not involved.

I WAS DRIVING AND THE GAS PEDAL GOT STUCK AND THE CAR ACCELERATED AT A HIGH SPEED ON ITS OWN AND I WAS TERRIFIED. I WAS ON A CITY STREET DRIVING MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL GOING STRAIGHT.

LLOW ENGINE OIL WARNING COMING IN EVERY GHIBLI 2014

I CANNOT FIND ANY CAR SEAT RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THIS CAR FROM MASERATI OR FROM CAR SEAT MANUFACTURERS. I AM LOOKING TO FIND THE SAFEST CONVERTIBLE CAR SEAT THAT IS RECOMMENDED TO FIT IN THIS CAR. THE POLICE STATION INSTALLED THE CAR SEAT IN THE MIDDLE WHICH IS NOT SUPPORTED BY THIS VEHICLE. I NEED HELP PLEASE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 MASERATI GHIBLI. WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE BACK UP CAMERA WAS DARK, BLINKING, AND HAD SQUIGGLY LINES ACROSS THE MONITOR. THE CAMERA WAS INOPERABLE. GAS PEDAL GETS STUCK BY THE FLOOR MAT. THIS TIME I GOT IN AN ACCIDENT THAT ALMOST KILLED BECAUSE I WASN'T ABLE TO STOP THE CAR SINCE IT KEPT ACCELERATING BY ITSELF. AFTER REVIEWING THE RECALLS & SUPPOSEDLY THEY FIXED THE ISSUE.BUT I HIGHLY DOUBTS. SAME ISSUE AGAIN BUT THIS TIME ALMOST COST ME MY LIFE

REAR VIEW CAMERA INTERMITTENTLY STOPS WORKING. A BLACK SCREEN IS DISPLAYED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT PROVIDED WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME. MASERATI OF HAWAII (888 KAPIOLANI BLVD, HONOLULU, HI 96813, (808) 585-6617) WAS NOTIFIED AND SEVERAL APPOINTMENTS WERE SCHEDULED; HOWEVER, THEY FAILED TO SERVICE EACH RECALL REPAIR REQUIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM THE DEALER, THEY MADE NO MENTION OF ANY RECALL CAMPAIGNS THAT NEEDED TO BE SERVICED. A LOANER VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN PROVIDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

EARLY GHIBLIS ARE KNOWN TO HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE CONNECTION OF THE TURBO WASTE GATE ACTUATOR TO THE WASTE GATE. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL CAMPAIGN TO ADD A CLIP TO THESE CARS TO QUIET RATTLING ON THAT JOINT. MY CAR HAD THE RECALL PERFORMED, AND SUBSEQUENTLY BEGAN RATTLING AGAIN. I REPORTED THIS TO MY SERVICE CENTER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RATTLE I WAS HEARING WAS NORMAL, ALL GHIBLIS DO IT. SEVERAL MONTHS PASSED AND THE RATTLE GOT WORSE, SO I TOOK THE CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME THAT NOT ONLY ARE THE CLIPS TO PREVENT RATTLING MISSING, BUT THE C CLIPS THAT HOLD THE ACTUATOR ON TO THE WASTE GATE ARE MISSING. THIS IS APPARENTLY A WELL-KNOWN ISSUE TO MASERATI THAT CAN RESULT IN ENGINE DAMAGE IF THE WASTE GATES FAIL TO OPEN, MASERATI REFUSES TO ADMIT THAT THIS IS A FAULTY DEIGN AND REPAIR THE VEHICLE, AND AS I AM OUT OF WARRANTY WANTS TO CHARGE ME NEARLY $10,000 TO REPLACE BOTH TURBOS.

3/18/2016 MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT DUE TO ACCELERATION DUE TO THE GAS PETAL STICKING. PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE IS HANDLING A PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM AND VEHICLE DAMAGE CLAIM. CLAIM NUMBER 16--2013182 ADJUSTER IS KEITH PELKEY 904-423-4423. THE PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM IS IN LITIGATION. FURTHER DOCUMENTS FOR SUBROGATION WILL BE PROVIDED ON REQUEST.

MY VEHICLE WENT IN FOR A 2 YEAR SERVICE AND A FEW SAFETY RECALLS. SINCE THE SERVICE, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO ENSURE THAT THE FRONT DOORS ARE CLOSED, EVEN WHEN SLAMMED SHUT. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE HAS SHIFTED ITSELF INTO PARK AT VERY LOW SPEED (LESS THAN 1 MPH) FROM BOTH THE D AND R GEARS. LASTLY, WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE, POWER DOES NOT TURN OFF FULLY, EVEN WHEN THE DOORS ARE LOCKED AND KEYS ARE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR.

MASERATI IS TOTALLY AWARE THAT THEIR FRONT IN IS SO BAD FROM THE FACTORY THAT THEY ARE NOW REPAIRING THIS MASSIVE REPAIR AT THEIR EXPENSE. HOWEVER THIS WEARS OUT ALL THE TIRES IN LESS THAN 10000 MILES. THE TREAD IS PERFECT AND THE TIRE HAS THREADS COMING THROUGH ON THE SIDE. THIS IS A NATIONAL ISSUE AND IS UNKNOWN TO ANYONE AND I ASSURE YOU THAT THERE IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. AS NOBODY CHECKS THEIR TIRES WITH PERFECT TREAD AT LESS THAN 10K MILES AND BY CHANCE THEY DON'T WARRANT THE TIRES. THEY HAVE KNOWN THIS AND HAVE NO TOLD ANYONE AND COMES FROM FACTORY THAT WAY.

WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DRIFTED LEFT. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO GAIN CONTROL HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE SPUN AROUND AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. OEM PIRELLI 235/50 AND 275/45 18" TIRES LOSE GRIP WITH ANY TEMPERATURE UNDER 75 DEGREES TO POINTS WHERE THE CAR IS BARELY CONTROLLABLE WITH ANY TURNING, ACCELERATION OR WET ROADS. UNDER 60 DEGREES AND ANY WET CONDITIONS IT IS UNDRIVABLE. MOST LOSS OF CONTROL EVENTS OCCURRED WITH SPEED UNDER 40MPH.

I RECENTLY TOOK MY 2014 MASERATI GHIBLI Q4 FOR DETAILING TO A SMALL SHOP IN NY. UPON COMPLETION, ONE OF THE SERVICE GUYS POINTED OUT TO ME AN EXTENSIVE FRONT CHASSIS DAMAGE ON THE LEFT THAT I WAS NOT EVEN AWARE OFF. THE FRONT LEFT CHASSIS HAD A CRACK ALONG THE STRUT TOWER, ABOUT 30%-40% IN LENGTH OF ITS DIAMETER. RIGHT NOW MY CAR IS AT MASERATI OF MANHATTAN NY. I NEVER HEARD ABOUT STRUT TOWER CRACK HAPPENING WITH MASERATI BEFORE, BUT SPENT SOME TIME ON THE INTERNET SEARCHING IT APPEARS TO BE COMMON PROBLEM FOR GHIBLI MODEL, THAT MASERATI KEPT QUIET. THE ALUMINUM MADE PARTS ARE WEAK AND SEEMS TO BE LIKE A TIMING BOMB THAT CAN KILL A DRIVER AT ANY TIME. FROM THE INTERNET I ALSO HAVE BEEN ALERTED TO THE FACT THAT CHASSIS DAMAGE IS A RECURRING ISSUE IN THESE CARS. WHAT I'VE BEEN TOLD IS THAT THE CHASSIS CRACKS WHERE IT MEETS THE STRUT TOWER, WHICH COULD CERTAINLY LEAD TO EXTREMELY UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS. I FOUND SEVERAL CASES AND IT MIGHT LEADS TO A RECALL ON ALL VEHICLES MADE DURING CERTAIN PERIOD. IN SAME CASE MASERATI IS DECLARING THE CAR A LEMON AND LOOKING TO REPLACE DANGEROUS PART. I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS MY CASE, BUT ANY CAR CHASSIS ARE BUILT TO BE ONE OF THE STRONGEST PARTS OF A CAR, NOT A PART THAT SHOULD FAIL, EVEN UNDER A POTHOLE IMPACT. TO CRACK A MAJOR SUPPORTING COMPONENT OF THE CAR LIKE THIS I COULD IMAGINE MAYBE HITTING A CURB AT MODERATE SPEED OF 45 MPH, BUT IF THIS WERE THE CASE I WOULD HAVE A LOT OF OTHER DAMAGE. WHEN ACCELERATING, THE GAS PEDAL GOT STUCK. APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH AGO, IT HAPPENED. MY HUSBAND THOUGHT THAT MAYBE HE STEPPED ON THE GAS INSTEAD OF THE BRAKE SO HE DIDN'T REPORT IT. THEN YESTERDAY, WE WERE ON THE FREEWAY WITH MY CHILDREN AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. EVEN WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE BRAKE, THE CAR KEPT ACCELERATING AND GOT STUCK TO THE FLOOR. MY HUSBAND THOUGHT MAYBE THE GAS PEDAL GOT STUCK ON THE FLOOR MAT SO HE PULLED IT BACK. HE HAD TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND PUMPED ON THE BRAKES UNTIL IT STOPPED.
