Defect. ON CERTAIN TRUCKS, AN AIR SYSTEM HOSE WAS INSTALLED RATHER THAN THE REQUIRED HIGH-PRESSURE POWER STEERING HOSE BETWEEN THE MAIN AND SLAVE STEERING GEAR.

Risk. THE AIR HOSE PRESSURE RATING IS WELL BELOW THAT OF THE POWER STEERING HOSE AND MAY RUPTURE, CAUSING A LOSS OF POWER ASSIST, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

Remedy. DEALERS WILL INSTALL THE CORRECT POWER STEERING HOSE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 28, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MACK AT 1-800-528-6586.
