Upon a cold start my vehicle was making a rattling and ticking sound and the car would shake. There were no engine failure or warning lights that came on but the engine did not sound like it was running properly and clearly something was wrong. I took the vehicle in and was told that the Variable Cam Timing parts need to be replaced. In doing some research it appears that the VCT on the 2019 Navigator has a recall for the VCT but my VIN was not included on the recall for some reason.

POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION/REDUCED POWER while on the highway! Low boost power malfunction causing excessive fuel and oil consumption, spinning/timing misfire, and reduced speed! Check engine light and powertrain malfunction lights later indicated P0365 and P0369 error codes. Dealership says I need a new timing chain and VCT selenoid. I found out this is a KNOWN ISSUE WITH 2018-2020 LINCOLN NAVIGATORS and that Lincoln has issued TSB Bulletins regarding these very issues! I am experiencing all of the symptoms - rattling when starting from a cold start, excessive oil consumption, spinning/misfiring when changing gears, crazy slow acceleration, low fuel economy. Initially the light came on in October with the Lincoln app telling me incorrect oil so I went and had my oil changed 10/30. It didn't help at all. I had the car diagnosed locally before calling to have it scheduled to be fixed at the dealership. The auto place wouldn't even give me a quote!! I have attached their Diagnostic. The dealership stated the cost would be $5400 for VCT Selenoid and Timing Chain. Dealership also stated this is a known issue and he had the same vehicle of the same year for the same reason he's working on right now! I looked it up and Lincoln KNOWS! They know about this issue!! I contacted Lincoln and they REFUSED to help!!! I believe Lincoln should extend grace and help with the cost of repair because they have know about this ongoing issue. Instead of helping their customers by issuing a recall or o
The contact owns a 2019 Lincoln Navigator. The contact stated while driving approximately 75 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from underneath the vehicle. The contact later discovered that there was a hole in the rear sunroof. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the residence. A dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
No warning light on dash. Issues engaging in gears. Avoided a few accidents by throwing on hazards when car wouldn't accelerate on road. When turning into oncoming traffic it wouldn't engage in gear but thankfully they braked to avoid hitting me. After that I would only drive in the neighborhood to take kids to school. When reading Ford knows this issue but still put this 10 speed transmission in vehicles. Mechanic diagnosed and had to rebuild transmission.
My vehicle fits all criteria for CSP 21B10 and CSP 21N03. The vehicle has 75714 miles whereas 21N03 covers up to 79,999 on this vehicle. The cold start rattle is very bad and drivability due to cam phaser issues has caused the vehicle to be not drivable, at least not safely… this vehicle meets all criteria for the recall, and the issue (confirmed by dealer - at dealership now) is the cam phasers and this recall 21N03 is the repair and they are very surprised our VIN is not listed, citing all of these vehicles require cam phaser replacement to be operable. As this is a known issue with 2018-2020 navigators with the 3.5 this should be covered by the recall.
THE PASSENGER SIDE SECOND ROW SEATBELT RETRACTOR PRETENSIONERS DEPLOY AND MY KIDS CAN’T LOOSEN THE SEATBELT TO PUT IT ON. WE HAVE TO THEN PUT OUT KIDS IN THE THIRD ROW OR MESS WITH IT FOR 10 minutes TO GET IT TO RELEASE.
THE DRIVER SIDE SECOND ROW WINDOW IS NOW GOING DOWN ALL BY ITSELF AND HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN 5 DAYS. I CANT ROLL IT UP UNTIL I TURN OFF THE CAR AND TURN IT BACK ON.
The engine rattles and knocks with cold start. in reviewing online, this is a very common problem. The dealership told me their service lot is full of navigators needing to have CAM? replaced. The internet confirms mechanics frustrated with spending their entire day replacing the same parts. This issue is listed on your site, but it is not a recalled item. I would suggest auditing how many of these repairs Lincoln is actually doing. I was initially told the repair cost should range between $1,000-$2,500, but after my vehicle waiting over a month in their service lot, they told me the repair cost would be $4,500. To have an issue this common on a car that cost over $100k, seems like they should take more ownership.
Seatbelt pretensioner exploded while driving at 5mph with no collision (exploded for no reason). Caused immediate retraction of seatbelt which caused chest trauma and knocked the wind out of me. Loud explosion in confined space caused ringing ears. Given that I had no idea there were explosives in my vehicle, my military training led me to believe I had been shot. I stopped the vehicle, got out and began accessing myself for a gunshot entry wound. I did have the pretensioner warning light for some time, but had not had it repaired yet because there were no appointments available at my local dealer. I had previously contacted Lincoln customer service to tell them that I could not get an appointment and asked them for help. They offered no assistance other than to give me the names of other dealers. Had this incident happened at a high rate of speed, I am nearly certain that the immediate and unexpected shock and trauma would have caused an accident. These devices, along with Lincoln's inability to provide repair appointments (at least in my location) are a hazard to the public.
The MIDDLE row passenger seat belt locks in place. We took it to the Lincoln dealership in San Antonio Texas and this is what their report states: Found internal failure with seat belt mechanism causing seatbelt to bind. Recommend to replace and retest. But there is no safety recall on it so they want to charge $947 to fix it. Yet, the exact same thing happened to our FRONT seat passenger seat belt! But that was fixed because of a recall.

I purchased this vehicle 6 months ago and have had nothing but electrical issues since. The front Lincoln emblem and the rear driverside brake lights do not work. Also, the heated driver seat stopped working. I have read the lighting issue is common.
The entire electrical panel went out and therefore I was unable to see the speed I was going, how much gas I had, etc. This happened after I turned my truck back on at the gas station. It was working fine prior to turning vehicle off. The panel was out for a day then came back on.
Transmission just revs & does not shift gears when try to take off from traffic lights or merge on highway. Shifts gears aggressively at speeds of 30-40 mph. Herky jerky and causes whiplash Lincoln reports fixing issue but I don’t think they did Safety issue.
5 dealerships unable to address rear camera recall in a timely manner. No definitive response from 5 dealers to include Rockwall Ford, Planet Ford, Planet Lincoln, Grapevine Lincoln, and David McDavid Lincoln in the Dallas area.
3 tires developed sidewall 'tears' . All were on the right side of the car , 2 had less than 25000 miles and one had less than 500 miles (it was a replacement that I bought from the Ford dealer). Two exploded at low speed. Tire size 285/45R 22 114H
The contact owns a 2019 Lincoln Navigator. The contact stated while the vehicle was stopped, the front passenger’s side seat belt pretensioner exploded. The passenger suffered minor injuries to the chest area but did not seek medical attention. The dealer was contacted and stated that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 46,519.
Cam phasers have started to fail. Vehicle has been meticulously maintained and well taken care of. Ford even did the recall with a reprogram to supposedly fix the issue back in 2022. We always change the oil between 5,000 and 6,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2019 Lincoln Navigator. The contact stated that the vehicle would jerk upon depression of the accelerator pedal while driving at various speeds or after coming to a complete stop. An unknown transmission message was displayed on the instrument panel after the failure. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where transmission fluid was added; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
The 10 speed transmission in our car shudders and vibrates badly and gets stuck in very high gears. The problem happens most often between 17-23 miles per hour, and is most noticeable on inclines. instead of downshifting to a lower gear at lowers speeds, the car is stuck in 6-7-8 gear. This causes a long hesitation where we are worried we could get rear ended or hit at an intersection. We have been shifting the car manually with the paddle shifters to drop into a lower gear, but this also takes time and causes a delay. We have been to the dealer at least 5 times for this issue and no luck on a repair. the problem has been ongoing for over a year now. Thank You.
Could not get the lincoln way app to work, took vehicle to mark Mcclarty Lincoln dealership and was told the tcu (the unit that controls the communications in the car) needed to be replaced and the cost including parts and labor is $1181, concerned that vehicle won't report critical information as is intended to maintain safety of vehicle.
On 2/3/2023 while driving, there was a loud explosion sound in the vehicle. We immediately pulled over to try to determine the source of the sound as there were no vehicles around us, nothing near us, or over us. We opened the sunroof cover and discovered the glass had shattered. We closed the cover, exited the vehicle to look at the sunroof from the outside. We immediately called the dealership as we just purchased this vehicle used on 1/19/2023. Two weeks owning the vehicle and the sunroof explodes. We are waiting on a call back from the dealer to determine our next steps. This is definitely a safety issue as the noise could cause an accident and if the sunroof cover had been opened, the shattered glass would have been all over our family.

The rear trunk latch disconnects from the car during any instance and projects the trunk open in a rapid manner. This issue occurred 3 times. The first time the vehicle was pulling into my garage and the trunk opened without prompting. The trunk smashed against the top of the garage and the facade of my home. Lincoln reviewed the electrical system and determined the event occurred without my involvement and replaced the latch. They did not call it a recall issue but did agree that they have seen it occur more than a few times. Subsequently, the issue occurred again. I was pulling into an indoor garage at a mall, and the trunk opened voluntarily once again. This time no damage occurred as I pulled to the side and remedied the situation. The third occurrence happened a few days ago as I dropped my 10 year old off at home. The trunk once again voluntarily opened. Each time i could've been driving at a faster speed and each time these incidences occurred I had parts of my family in the vehicle. There were never any warning lamps and the manufacturer has gone silent with what the issue is. I am concerned that this can occur at a higher rate of speed with all of my children in the car.
If the rear trunk gate is up and the vehicle is running the passenger compartment will fill with carbon monoxide very quickly. This usually will happen if loading luggage or items in the back of the vehicle while the engine runs. Certainly a risk if kids are left in the passenger compartment while the truck is being loaded when the engine is running.

RESTRAINTS INDICATOR LAMP WARNING LIGHT ON EVERY TIME PASSENGER GETS IN AND BUCKLED UP. WHILE IN MOTION IT WILL TURN ON! DEALER COULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT.
SEATBELT IS NOT RECOILING PROPERLY. DEALERSHIP REPLACED IT, NEW ONE IS HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES. SAT IN OTHER BLACK LABEL NAVIGATORS AND THEY ALSO HAD THE SAME ISSUE. WHEN USING THE CRUISE CONTROL, THE BRAKES ARE MAKING AN ODD NOISE (IT MAKES THE SAME TYPE OF SOUND YOU HEAR WHEN GETTING UP FROM A LEATHER COUCH) WINDOW WASHERS HAVE FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES. I HAVE MULTIPLE VIDEO'S OF THAT DRIVER SEATS ARE MAKING A LOT OF NOISE (ALMOST LIKE SOMETHING IS LOOSE), DEALERSHIP HAD TO FIX IT TWICE NOW. KEEP IN MIND THIS VEHICLE IS BRAND NEW, THEIR TOP OF THE LINE MODEL AND HAD LESS THEN 10K MILES WHEN THESE ISSUES STARTED. I WOULD BE MORE THAN WILLING TO MEET WITH SOMEONE IN PERSON TO SHOW THEM ALL THE ISSUES.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
