2020 Kia Telluride complaints

WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY FORWARD COLLISION WARNING INDICATOR STARTED FLASHING ON MY DASHBOARD WHILE A DINGING SOUND WENT OFF. THERE WAS NOTHING AROUND ME, THEN MY TIRE PRESSURE WARNING STARTED GOING OFF WHILE MY PRESSURE WAS FINE. THE INDICATORS WOULD SWITCH BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN BOTH WARNINGS, THEN MY MIRROR SENSORS WERE INDICATING THAT SOMETHING WAS NEXT TO BOTH OF MY MIRRORS WHILE NOTHING WAS THERE. THEN ALL OF MY WARNING INDICATORS BEGAN FLASHING AND CONTINUED TO FLASH. ONCE THESE ISSUES STARTED MY BACK UP CAMER NO LONGER WORKED WHILE I WAS IN REVERSE. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE DAYS LATER WHEN THE ISSUE PERSISTED TO THE PLACE I BOUGHT IT AND THEY ARE ORDERING A NEW BACK UP CAMERA WITH NO REAL EXPLANATION. CONSIDERING THIS RELATES TO A COLLISION WARNING SOMETHING IN THE VEHICLE MEANT TO PREVENT A COLLISION, NOT WORKING PROPERLY MY OPINION IS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.

Driving down the highway and notice a small chip in the windshield.We heard no impact noise while driving. It went from a micro chip to the attached picture in approx an hour. We are outraged because we just repaired our windshield last week from an unknown chip/crack that we came outside to one morning. It spread from the rear view mirror area to the passenger edge of the windshield in 2 days.

About a few weeks ago my family and I were on our way to Disney for vacation. While on the highway driving around 70+ mph the vehicle suddenly made a big bang sound. The radio shut off and the checkESC (electronic stability control) message popped up on the display. A few miles later it did the same thing. Good thing we had just started our 10 hour drive to be able to take a back road back home doing 55 mph to switch vehicles. Once we got back from our vacation, we took it to a Kia dealership. On our way to the dealership the radio was constantly rebooting itself and then the big bang will happen. The dealership said they could not duplicate the issue and fixed the recalls instead and called us to come pick the car up. On our way home from the dealership, the radio again started rebooting itself. We tried to take it to an Hyundai dealership because it’s a lot closer to our house, only to find out when we got there that they don’t have the equipment to electrically work on a Kia product. So on our way home from the Hyundai dealership the radio starts doing the same thing and while going over an overpass, it did the bang thing twice. The bang feels like the car is stopping and starting back up really fast while the car is in gear and rpm’s jump up as well. It all starts with the radio constantly rebooting itself nonstop. As of 6/10/23 the car is back at the Kia dealership. After explaining and showing recorded videos to the service advisor, they claim the car cannot possibly be

Over the past few days, I have noticed a complete failure of the high beam functionality in my vehicle. Whenever I attempt to engage the high beams, there is no response or illumination. This issue persists regardless of the driving conditions or the operation of other lighting features, such as the low beams, turn signals. The inability to utilize high beams while driving at night significantly compromises visibility, thereby increasing the risk of collisions, particularly with animals that may suddenly appear on the roadway. This issue not only endangers my own safety but also jeopardizes the lives of pedestrians, other motorists, and the innocent wildlife that inhabit our surroundings.

High beam headlights stopped working. There are no maintenance indicators that tell me the high beams do not work. When I pull the switch to turn on high beams, the high beam dash indicator lights up on the dash, but the high beams do not turn on. I have replaced both high beam bulbs, but that did not fix the issue, so I just do not drive this vehicle at night anymore. I was researching recalls and issues with my make/model, and read about other people having this issue and researched how to report it. This is a serious concern when driving at night, as the low beam lights by themselves are a hazard because they do not properly project lighting more than a few feet. Without high beams, driving at night is completely dangerous. The problem has not been confirmed by a dealer or service center, or inspected. There are no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms.

The car will NOT start with a ESC warranty

We came outside to a "L" shaped crack in the windshield starting in the blackened portion where the rear view mirror sits, coming down and turning toward the passenger side.

The vehicle was taken to the local glass repair shop and the windshield was replaced. The contact stated that the failure recurred approximately six months later. During the failures, there was no impact to the windshield to cause the crack. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.

High beams do not work

My high beams on the headlights have ceased to work. Low beams not casting enough distance for save sight ahead. It appears to be working on the display when switching to high beam but neither headlight is changing.

Front passenger seatbelt doesn’t always lock into the clasp. Sometimes it clicks as if it is locked, and the seatbelt will release without anyone or anything pushing the release button.

The instrument cluster periodically stops working. The speedometer and Tachometer stop working, and all warning lights flash on and off randomly. It shows the doors and hoods opening and closing on the display as well along with other warning lights. The cruse control fails to operate as does the front/side crash warning systems....these warning lights also come on. This is an intermittent problem, it will persist for days and then will stop for part of a day, or multiple days and then return again.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the headlight assemblies needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 102,981.

This vehicle does not have separate high and low-beam bulbs for it's headlights. Rather, it has a shutter to change the amount of light. Both shutters failed to the closed position, only allowing the low-beam to operate. The only solution is to change out the entire headlight assembly. Not having high-beams at night is a safety hazard since the low-beam output isn't enough to illuminate a far enough distance while driving at highway speeds. It is unknown if only one shutter failed and if that is what causing both shutters not to operate properly. Kia service center was not able to diagnose this for me. Also, unknown is how this may impact other safety features at night by not having the high-beams.

High beams stopped working. No fault of owner. Took to two Kia dealerships that would not pay the $1800 to replace lights. We can not pass state inspection and dangerous driving dark roads at nights. Vehicle still under “bumper to bumper warranty”. Should be a recall or repaired by Kia.

We experienced an issue of the engine stalling while my wife was stopping at a stop light on multiple occasions. I did not think to check the oil as the vehicle only had about 60k miles at the time. After taking it to KIA here in Jacksonville NC they told us our oil was low and adivsed us to choose the most expensive oil change, i obliged with obvious reservations. After the oil change was completed they wanted it back right at 1,000 miles later to check the oil level. When we brought it back in they said it is within normal limits. I find it hard to believe that an engine should be burning oil this soon when we have kept up with routine maintenance by the dealership since we purchased the vehicle. I am now at a spot where I am adding checking/adding oil until we can get rid of this vehicle since KIA does not want to stand behing their product.

While driving all of a sudden high beams shut off and would not come back on. Attempted to fix issue by replacing bulbs. This did not fix the issue. Technician looked at the wiring into headlights and no issue was found. Have not been able to fix thus issue. It is going on a year now without having high beams. During my research multiple other owners have Same issue. I spoke to kia and was told 10 months ago that they are working on a recall for this issue. Still no recall issued. I have spoken to multiple other owners that have same make and model they have Same issue and had to pay out of pocket to replace both headlight assemblies to fix the issue. This is unacceptable and a high safety issue!

The contact owns a 2020 Kia Telluride. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V626 (Trailer Hitches) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Both of the high beams have gone out. I had the issue diagnosed at KIA Richmond as a solenoid defect. Invoice attached. As you are aware, this is not an anomaly for KIA …. Other has the same problem. An expensive fix snd unsafe driving. I have reported this to 3 KIA dealerships and all claim ignorance as to any awareness of a problem. I have also reported to the BBB. I have been out of the count for the lady 4+ months so that is ehyI did not report earlier. I lv again June1 and will not return til November 7.

Windshield cracked from camera mount outwards for no reason, no impact

The high beams have went out without warning. Driving at night with only low beams can be very dangerous. I live in a rural community so not being able to see potential wild animals in the road is dangerous for me and my family. It has also not been fixed my replacing the lights.

BELIEVED TO BE FRONT POWER TRANSFER UNIT WAS LOOKED AT BY ANOTHER DEALER NOT KIA. FOUND PTU LEAKING FLUID AND HOWLING DURING TESTING. NOT SURE IF IN FUTURE THE UNIT WILL LOCK UP CAUSING UNSAFE VEHICLE CONDITION. . HAS HAD BRAND NEW MICHELIN TIRES INSTALLED AT THE REQUEST OF KIA DEALER. VEHICLE STILL HAS A VIBRATION AT 67-72MPH DEALER FOLLOWED TRA099 TSB, DIDN'T FIX ISSUE/DIDN'T WANT TO SPEND THE TIME DIAGNOSING BECAUSE ITS UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY DON'T GET PAID FOR THEIR TIME. HAS BEEN TO DEALER FOR CONCERN WAS TOLD NORMAL OPERATION. NOT NORMAL AT ALL THE WHOLE VEHICLE GROANS AND SHAKES.

I am writing to report a safety defect within the 2020 telluride. Yesterday I started my vehicle to let it warm up as it was cold outside. I came back inside changed into my work clothes. Ushered my kids into the car and headed on my way After a 2 Hour Dr., I reached my destination, exited my vehicle, and when I went to lock my doors, they would not lock. This prompted me to enter the vehicle again to double check for the keys and the key fob. At that time it was discovered that the keys were not in the vehicle , My vehicle allowed me to start it with the key fob, bring the key fob inside the house, leave my keys on the counter, but let me drive it for over two hours. There were no additional warnings given that the keys were not located in the car, or that the key fob could not be detected when re-entering the vehicle, and or putting the vehicle in reverse or drive I believe that this causes a safety issue, as if my children were in the vehicle and I had ran back inside. Someone could’ve stole my car and my kids. The dealership is aware of this issue, stating that it has happened on many other vehicles made by Kia , I feel for the safety of the Kia consumer that this issue should be looked into and corrected. The vehicle should not be able to travel with out the key fob in the car!

My windshield cracked out of no where. My bright lights stopped working while driving home.

High beams no longer work

Highbeams not changing from low beam to high beam. I was unable to see driving in dark areas. The dealership found a short causing the curtain to not open fully keeping the low beams on. The dealer replaced the head lamp assembly under warranty.

High beam headlights failed. Internal display indicated they were on, but they were not. They have never come back on. Dealership states entire assembly needs to be replaced - not covered under warranty.

The high beam lights failed to turn on and will not turn on at all..

Bright headlights stopped working.

On October 1st, 2022 we rented the listed vehicle from Budget rent a car in Port Canaveral, Fl. We had just returned from a cruise vacation and due to the hurricane, we had to drive to Fort Myers to pick up my 83 year old mother from the hospital, as my sisters home had just been flooded my Hurricane Ian. When we rented the vehicle, the location was extremely busy, and they simply handed us the keys to the car. No inspection was completed, however my husband and I noticed several dents and deep scrapes to the vehicle that had began rusting. We joked how bad in shape the vehicle was considering it only had about 5000miles on it. We drove to Fort Myers and heard some banging in the rear drivers side. When we stopped for gas, my husband checked to make sure there wasn’t any obvious issue with the tire….he noted no appearance of damage to the tire. As no other vehicles were available due to the hurricane, We continued, picked up my mother, and began our trip back to the north Atlanta. We spent the night in north Florida, and resumed our trip the next morning. In Forsyth, GA (Monroe county) the rear tire began to wobble and the car began to shake. Traffic was extremely heavy, but we were able to pull to the narrow shoulder. My husband got out of the car and immediately noticed the tire appeared to be coming off the car. He looked at the lug nuts and only 3 remained. He touched them to see if they were tight and 2 bolts with the nuts attached fell off the wheel. The BOLTS fell off

As I was driving home down country roads my bright lights went out. I now only have regular headlights and no one has indicate they know how to fix the problem. This is a huge safety concern as I need them especially driving down dark country roads. I now have to drive another vehicle at night bc you cannot see.

My high beams have all of a sudden stopped working. The light on the dash indicates that they are on, but they don't work at all. This poses a safety issue when driving the vehicle at night. I have an appointment with my dealer to have the problem looked at and hopefully fixed, although I have been seeing that there are many issues with the high beams on this model

High beams do not work. Had bulbs replaced but no effect. Checked all fuses, and they checked out ok.

In the fall of 2022 my highbeams quit working. There’s no indication that anything is wrong, however, they just don’t turn on anymore. I’m left with only low beams. Changing the lightbulbs didn’t fix the problem.

High beams not working even after a fuse/relay replacement. Both went out at the same time, have yet to take it in for repair in hopes a recall covers this issue soon.

Several months ago, my high beams quit working inexplicably. The panel indicator light does indeed work (ie, it shows the "blue high beam" icon when I engage), however, the high beams themselves do not. I brought it to the dealer for repair, but they told me that there is no fix that they know of --short of replacing the entire light assemblies on both sides, which would be very expensive (and unnecessary). This is extremely unsafe. I frequently travel at night and in the mountains, and it has changed my driving habits significantly. I can't believe that KIA has not yet issued a recall, as the bit of online research i have done for this problem indicates there are many people experiencing the same issue. Yet there is no repair solution. I hope it does not take a serious accident/injury for KIA to address it. Given the lack of visibility with no high beams, it is inevitable that accidents WILL HAPPEN with this deficiency. I feel the NHTSA needs to take immediate action and hold KIA responsible for a recall/fix! Thank you

My high beam lights do not work. My low beams are all that I have. It is a safety hazard at night due to not having adequate lighting to drive in dark areas. I have had no warning lamps or notifications come on but it has been going on for at least 1-2 months. I have been thinking my lights weren’t bright when switching between bright and dim but just put it to the text on 3/13/2023 and realized they are not in fact changing despite the bright light signal turning blue on my display.

I was traveling with my family and while driving on a dark road, I turned in my high beam lights on, but nothing happened. I tried several times but they still did not work. Just a few weeks ago there were working. I do not have any indications on my dashboard of any issues. I do use the Kia app and the last healthy alert indicated no issues. I did a little research online and found a forum with other Kia customers having the same issue. Because of this, I decided to make an appointment with the dealership and file a complaint to assure this issue gets resolved in a timely manner.

Brights not working even though dash indicates they are on. Took car back to where I purchased and they told me there was a recall on the headlight shutter. They said to take car to Kia. I contacted Kia and was told by service department that there is NO recall on bights although they are getting many complains on this issue

High beam lights on both sides stopped functioning

High beam function does not work. Went out completely with no warning or indication.

Side view mirror motor is defective (30,000 miles, well cared for). Dealer service department needs to get clearance for repair and do not know when the mirror motor parts will be in. In the meantime, the driver's side mirror cannot be manually adjusted into proper position. This makes left lane changes very risky. Several others owners have also had this issue.

High- beam headlights are not working. Indicator on the dashboard says they are on but they don’t change from low beam.

High Beams failed with no notice and are non-operational. Took to dealership and was told the issue was a design issue and was told that KIA would not cover the defect. Contacted KIA customer service and they denied to cover the repair. A simple Google search shows there are multiple incidents of this happening.

High beams no longer work on the car. No high beams creates an obvious safety risk while driving at night. The problem was confirmed by an independent service provider. The provider tried the bulb and that did not fix the problem. They said it was some kind of mechanical damper in the lighting unit that was likely the issue. I have an appointment Wednesday with Vision Kia East Rochester to get their diagnostics of the issue. There is no warning lights and as far as the dashboard of the car is concerned...the high beams are functioning as they should (though they certainly are not functioning at all).
