Defect. ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE FRONT WHEEL MAY CONTAIN A CASTING FLAW WHICH COULD RESULT IN A WHEEL FAILURE.
Risk. THIS WHEEL FAILURE COULD POTENTIALLY RESULT IN A CRASH.
Remedy. DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FRONT WHEEL. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 9, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT KAWASAKI AT 1-866-802-9381.
THE CONSUMER'S SON WAS DRIVING A MOTORCYCLE WHEN HE LOST CONTROL AND STRUCK THE CURB. HE WAS THROWN FROM THE MOTORCYCLE AND STRUCK HIS HEAD ON THE CONCRETE AND WAS KILLED INSTANTLY. I WAS TRAVELING AROUND 40 TO 50 MPH WHEN THE FRONT WHEEL OF MY MOTORCYCLE SEEMED TO JUST GIVE WAY AND SHHOOT ME AND THE BIKE INTO A CURB THEREFORE HIGHSIDEING ME. THE ONLY INJURY I HAD WAS TO MY LEFT AND RIGHT ANKLES. 3 WEEKS AFTER THE ACCIDENT I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE NOT TO RIDE MY MOTORCYCLE DUE TO CASTING FLAWS. MY BIKE IS DESTROYED.*AK
