Jeep entered limp mode right as I was pulling out on to the street. Brought the car into a mechanic to have it diagnosed, turns out to be the ETC. Call a dealership to get a estimate on cost, they told me that a significant portion the jeep patriots from that year are currently experiencing this, to the point where the part is on back order nation wide. Estimated repair cost $1400. 40,000 miles.
2015 Jeep Patriot complaints
Owner reports filed with NHTSA about this vehicle, newest first and reproduced as filed. They are unverified accounts: one proves nothing, and a pattern across many is the thing worth reading. Back to the full 2015 record →
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the front driver seat headrest was deployed without warning or impact. The headrest hit the back of the contact's head which caused pain to his head, back, and neck. The contact did not seek medical treatment. The dealer was initially contacted and he was given an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.
Driver side AHR deployed while vehicle was parked in the driveway. Albeit there want anyone in the car and thank god it wasn’t being driven but this is safety issue in my opinion. I’ve looked into resetting it and attempted to but then noticed that the system wasn’t activated and the plastic that holds the straining pin in has broke. Now I’ve stuck with a deployed headrest and a bill to replace it when this is clearly a fiat Chrysler problem
Vehicle stalls in moving traffic.Cuts off and traction light comes on. Many owners have reported the problem with continuous replacing parts and the issue comes back in a day or so
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle temporarily lost motive power. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring increasingly while driving at various speeds. The contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power. The contact veered to the side of the road and was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the crankshaft position sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000.
ON JUN 1 2022, MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON , THEN THE BRAKES CAME ON WITHOUT ME APPLYING THEM SEVERAL TIMES, I CALLED THE DEALER SAWYER MOTORS ,AND THE SERVICE MANAGER. SAID THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE WITH THIS MODEL TO OTHER CUSTOMERS. I AM A CERTIFIED MECHANIC ALSO SO I PULLED THE FUSES FOR THE ABS SYSTEM SO THE BRAKES WILL NOT COME ON WITHOUT ME APPLYING THEM . THAT STOPPED THE PROBLEM BUT NOW I HAVE NO CRUIZE CONTROL, SPEEDOMETER, OR BACK UP LIGHTS. I CHECKED THE REAR RIGHT WHEEL BEARING HUB AND THE SPEED SENSOR HAD COME OUT OF A WEAK POORLY DESIGNED THIN HOLDING CLAMP ON THE REAR WHEEL HUB. MOST CARS HAVE A MORE SECURE WAY OF HOLDING THIS SENSOR TO THE REAR HUB NOT A THIN SHEET METAL CLIP WHICH RUSTS Away and the sensor just falls out....! causing all these problems and the safety issue.. NOW THE WhOLE HUB HAS TO BE REPLACED AT SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS COST.
My truck goes into a code where the electric throttle control light, the engine light, and the tire traction light comes on. When the vehicle does this it reduces the speed to 35 no matter what or where you are. When you ho get the engine light checked, the code says it's a suction problem 🙄. Jeep started doing this in the colder weather than progressed to every other week
THE SPEED SENSORS IN THE REAR WHEEL HUBS ARE HELD ON WITH A THIN WIRE CLIP. THIS RUSTS AWAY VERY QUICKLY AND THE SENSOR FALLS OUT. THEN THE BRAKES CAN BE APPLIED WITHOUT THE DRIVER TOUCHING THE BRAKES . THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT IN MY CAR AND THE DEALER SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL YET, BUT THERE SHOULD BE..!
Drivers front seat headrest deployed on its own. no collision involved
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that air conditioning system was blowing hot air throughout the vehicle. Additionally, there was a coolant leak. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer three times and was diagnosed and the contact was informed that the air compressor unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Patriot. The vehicle had previously been serviced at the dealer under a manufacturer Emission Recall Number: U67 (Catalytic Converter Efficiency) however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced decreased acceleration. The dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 96,800.
Engine stalls upon acceleration from a dead stop major safety concern. Mechanic says it’s crankshaft sensor which the 2016 Jeep Patriot recall was for the same issue.
I have purchased a 2015 Jeep Patriot from Sunrise car dealer it has been 3 months now I took it back to the dealer they couldn't find anything wrong with it the car cut off in the middle of traffic in the middle of the expressway with a big 18-wheeler behind me scared me to death. I can see why they sold it to me without any warranty. I took it to a car repairment person ran a test on it couldn't find anything wrong with it. No codes were found, we took the car for a ride in the air and the radio didn't cut him off but as soon as I got back in it down the road it cut off again several times before I made it home. Please tell me if I can take the car back and trade it in for another car. Help
While driving the car RPM dropped to zero, I pressed the gas pedal, and RPMs went back to normal engine continued to work. The crank shaft sensor was replaced, it drove for another month (approximately) before it began with the same issue. This time I was driving on the highway (twice). The third time I was on a busy street when it happened with complete loss of power and the stability control light came on. This is so dangerous and could possibly cause an accident. After looking into this issue, I have found that this is not a common occurrence and there is even a recall for this exact reason for the 2016 Jeep Patriots. The vehicle was taken to the local Jeep dealership, and they stated there was no way of knowing what the issue is without the check engine light coming on. I find this hard to believe knowing that there are many instances of this happening and a recall on a newer model for the same thing. They replaced the Crank Shaft Sensor (which had already been replaced) and two cam shaft sensors, replaced the catalytic converter that was recalled and the passenger side seat which had deployed. We were charged nearly $800. This is outrageous considering this is a dangerous issue that has been recalled on the 2016 models. Jan 31, 2023, NHTSA reached out to Ms. Eanes for additional information involving issues of the Crankshaft in the 2015 Jeep Patriot.
I noticed a vibration and it felt like the vehicle was shaking at times. This problem increased at higher speeds. I took it to a dealer for inspection and found out the control arms, tie rods, and ball joints were in critical condition and needed to be replaced. This vehicle has less than 50,000 miles on it.
Two issues- First one the vehicle engine tends to randomly sputter like there is a dead cylinder. Which I have found by adding electric jell to the spark plug connector will make the problem go away for a short time. Second one now in the rear transfer case is marking a grinding noise and is getting louder.
The vehicles rpms drop to zero and then almost stalls out but picks up again and sometimes dies completely and you have to wait to restart the vehicle. No codes are available when it stalls out. It happens almost every day and sometimes multiple times a day
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and diagnosed with a faulty catalytic convertor. The contact was informed that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted however, no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated while she was exiting a parking spot, the vehicle accelerated independently and crashed into a tree. No Air Bags deployed. The contact stated the front passenger had bruises on her chest from the seat belt but did not seek medical attention. No police report was filed. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to towing shop and now was at an insurance location. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.
I was driving and the headrest on the passanger seat popped opened
***VEHCILE WAS PURCHASED JANUARY 2021. LATER FOUND OUT THE 2015 JEEP PATRIOT I PURCHASED HAD 5 PREVIOUS OWNERS...MAKING ME THE 6TH OWNER.*** SEPT 2021 I WAS DRIVING DURING RUSH HOUR ON BUSY LAS VEGAS CITY STREET WHEN OUT OF NOWHERE AND NO WARNING MY 2015 JEEP PATRIOT LOST POWER...3 DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON (LIGHTNING BOLT/CHECK ENGINE LIGHT/TRACTION CONTROL). I WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO A HOTEL PARKING LOT AFTER CROSSING 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC. ONCE PARKED, I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF, WAITED ABOUT 10-15 SECONDS TRIED RESTARTING IT AGAIN AND TO NO AVAIL THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MECHANIC SHOP WHERE THEY DETERMINED/DIAGNOSISED THE PROBLEM TO BE THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. CAR WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY SO I HAD TO COME OUT OF POCKET ALMOST $1000. ALL THIS DURING THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC. WHEN I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE FROM THE MECHANIC THEY INFORMED ME THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT IS STILL ON BECAUSE MY RACK/PINION WAS DAMAGED SO MY ALIGNMENT IS OUT OF WHACK. THEY ALLOWED ME TO DRIVE OFF WITH MY VEHICLE EVEN WHEN THE ALIGNMENT BEING SCREWED UP. WHEN DRIVING MY VEHICLE HOME, I WAS SO SCARED BECAUSE IT FELT LIKE MY VEHICLE WANTED TO GO IN EVERY DIRECTION AT THE SAME TIME. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO BIG O TIRES TO HAVE THEM TEST THE ALIGNMENT. AFTER THEY RE-ALIGNED THE JEEP IT RAN PERFECT. BUT I SPOKE TO SOON...JUST AFTER 1 WEEK, IM NOW STARTING TO EXPERIENCE MORE ISSUES...CAR ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN, HESITATION WHEN TRYING TO TAKE OFF FROM RED LIGHT,
Throttle conrol sensor redlightning bolt on dash, after jeep seemed to loose power.check engine light. Available upon request. Had to drive home with virtually no exceleration with hazzards on due to unusual dangerous circumstances. Jeep problem not confirmed by dealer. Needs to be towed, for fear of safety. Disheartened, and without a vehicle hoping this can be affordable to fix or fixable at all.
While vehicle was stationary, driver side headrest deployed. Had I been just a few inches closer to the headrest it would have hit me. I will be contacting a Jeep dealership in regards to this but there is currently no active recalls on the Jeep per the NHTSA website.
The engine cuts out and stalls as you are driving, this is intermittent but happens often
For the past several months we are having trouble with the computer issue with this vehicle. We took it to a repair shop and they confirmed, in fact one of the mechanics had the very same problem, that the computer is malfunctioning. Here is what is happening...the car won't start and as you turn the key it just hesitates and you pray it will start. The A/C won't come on...the clock on the dash does not show the correct time...the "bell" dings when you exit the vehicle even though there is no key in the ignition, the lights have been turned off, etc. It won't stop dinging until you shut the door. Also, the rear window defogger indicator light is flashing like warning you to turn it off. Also, the CD player won't eject a CD. Then come a few days later and none of this happens. It is always a gamble when you get in the Jeep wondering if it will start. I feel, since this has happened to other Jeeps, there should be a recall on this particular situation.
The Air Bag Spring has failed, apparently due to metal fatigue, in my 2015 Jeep Patriot. This renders the horn non-functioning and may also make the air bag not function.
The vehicle was involved in a major accident. None of the air bags deployed at all. Yet, the air bag that stretched front to back along the roof was completely exposed and simply hanging.
My driver side headrest exploded while the car was stationary. It appears the active head restraint system failed. Jeep dealers refuse to tell me if this is covered by warranty. I have not yet had it inspected, but as the car was stationary, not moving and not colliding it is clearly a manufacturer defect. This is an extremely dangerous defect. There are reports of drivers being concussed while driving, and I mostly only drive to take children to and from school.
My Jeep Patriot stalls after I fill up the gas tank 1-2 miles after it is filled every time. It does this at random times with no warning, the steering and brakes lock up with no throttle control. It is extremely dangerous as it’s happened in heavy traffic and could turn out worse for others with the same issue.
The AHR deployed on my passenger side seat while driving down the road hitting my teenaged daughter in the back of the head.
I see there is a recall on other Jeep Patriots for a catalytic convertors. Mine was not included but i have had numerous emission issues. My catalytic convertor and both O2 sensors went and it is not covered. I am wondering why my jeep wasn't included in the recall.
I WAS SITTING STATIONARY LEAVING OUT OF A PARKING LOT WAITING TO TURN RIGHT ONTO A MAIN ROAD FROM A BUSINESS. AS TRAFFIC CLEARED AND I BEGAN TO PULL INTO TRAFFIC NUMEROUS MALFUNCTION LIGHTS SHOWED ON THE DASH, SOME SOLID AND ONE FLASHING, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I LOST ALL THROTTLE CONTROL AND THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY IDLE OR VERY SLIGHTLY ACCELERATE TO 1-2 MPH. THIS CAUSED OTHER CARS ON THE ROAD TO BRAKE AGGRESSIVELY OR CHANGE LANES TO AVOID HITTING ME. I WAS ABLE TO IDLE TO THE NEXT ENTRANCE AND PULL THE CAR OVER AND PARK IT. WAS NECESSARY TO RECOVER THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR FACILITY AND WAS DIAGNOSED AS AN INTERNALLY FAILED THROTTLE MOTOR CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO "LIMP MODE". THE LOCAL JEEP DEALER HAD THE NEW THROTTLE MOTOR IN STOCK INDICATING TO ME THIS IS A KNOWN AND COMMON PARTS FAILURE. THIS SITUATION WAS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD HAVE ENDED UP MUCH WORSE.
MY 2015 JEEP PATRIOT STARTED MAKING WHINING NOISES AND JERKING WHEN IN MOTION, I HAD THE TRANSMISSION AND CONVERTER REPLACED AT 75,000 MILES, NOW I AM AT 95,000, AND IT IS HAPPENING ALL OVER AGAIN, LOUD WHINING NOISES AND JERKS RANDOMLY WHEN IN MOTION, DOES NOT MATTER THE SPEED OR IF I AM ON A CITY STREET GOING 40 MILES AN HOUR OR HIGHWAY GOING 70 MILES AN HOUR OR EVEN IN A NEIGHBORHOOD GOING 10 MILES AN HOUR, I ALSO HAVE NOTICED THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY, I CURRENTLY HAVE MY CAR IN THE SHOP TO DIAGNOSIS THE PROBLEMS AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING 75 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SAFFORD CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM & FIAT OF FREDERICKSBURG (5202 JEFFERSON DAVIS HWY, FREDERICKSBURG, VA 22408) TO DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE TO BE DIAGNOSED A SECOND TIME. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED A THIRD TIME AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,000.
MY DRIVER SEAT HEADREST DEPLOYED LIKE AN AIRBAG WITHOUT WARNING OR BY RESULT OF IMPACT. IT JUST SPLIT OPEN AND DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS A SAFETY DEVICE BUT IT IS AN EXPENSIVE JOB FOR SOMETHING THAT SUDDENLY BECOMES DEFECTIVE AND I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR A SAFETY DEVICE THAT FAILED. I WASN'T IN VEHICLE WHEN IT HAPPENED. BUT THE WEEK BEFORE THIS HAPPENED THE JEEP WAS PARKED DUE TO AN EXTREMELY HORRIBLE SNOW STORM AND IT WAS TRAPPED UNDER SNOW FOR OVER A WEEK AND WHERE I LIVE THAT TYPE OF WEATHER HAS NOT HAPPENED BEFORE. AND THE WEEK AFTER IT BECAME HOT SO NOT SURE WEATHER HAD A ROLE IN IT. BUT BECAUSE I HAD BRAIN AND NECK SURGERY THE HEADREST HAS MADE IT UNCOMFORTABLE AND IT IS IMPACTING MY SAFETY AS WELL.
MY JEEP PATRIOT WILL STALL OUT ON ME UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE HAD THOUSANDS OF WORK DONE ON IT JUST FOR IT TO CONTINUE TO HAPPEN. NO SHOP HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG DUE TO NO CODE SHOWING UP. IT HAS BEEN OVERHEATING ON ME AND HAS BEEN CAUSING ME TO THROW AWAY A LOT OF MONEY. I AM VERY UPSET ABOUT THIS AND THE FACT THAT THERE IS NOTHING HAPPENING AND ALL OF THESE COMPLAINTS IS RIDICULOUS!!
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL KEEPS ACTING UP. THE LIGHT FLASHES ON AS IT LOSES POWER THEN IT WILL RUN FINE FOR A LITTLE BIT AND DO IT AGAIN. THERE IS NO CODE. I KEEP GETTING HESITATIONS IN THE JEEP. IT WILL HICCUP ALONG THE HIGHWAY OR AS I TRY TO ACCELERATE. THERE IS NO SPECIFIC TIME WHEN IT HAPPENS. I HAVE ALREADY HAD THE WIRE HARNESS REPLACED IN MY JEEP A YEAR AGO.
TRANSMISSION IS OVERHEATING IN VARIOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. IT USED TO BE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON HOT DAYS. NOW IT OCCURS IN ANY CONDITIONS DOWN TO 49 DEGREES AT 45 MILES PER HOUR. THE PROBLEM IS COMMON IN THIS VEHICLE, CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT IT AND DOES NOTHING TO CORRECT IT IN MANUFACTURING. PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE THE FIRST YEAR BUT WAS TOO INFREQUENT AND GOT TOO LITTLE RESPONSE FROM DEALERSHIP TO INVOKE LEMON LAW IN TIME. CHRYSLER AND SOME DEALERSHIPS ATTEMPT TO WAIT OUT THE LEMON LAW AND THEN THE WARRANTY PERIOD. TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS WITH MUCH GREATER FREQUENCY NOW. THE SAFETY PROBLEM IS THAT THE VEHICLE GOES INTO LIMP MODE AND GOES TO ZERO POWER VERY QUICKLY. MY WIFE COULD FIND HERSELF STRANDED IN AN STRANGE OR UNSAFE NEIGHBORHOOD,OR WORSE, ALONG CROWDED STRETCH OF INTERSTATE LIKE I95 N AT CHESTER, PA OR IN THE MIDDLE OF ANY CLOVER LEAF. THE VEHICLE BECOMES A HAZARD TO MY WIFE AND OTHER DRIVERS. OR IMAGINE VIRGINIA, I95 N HEADING FOR DC WHERE TRAFFIC IS BOTH HEAVY AND FAST-MOVING. A SLOW VEHICLE MERGING IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE IN SOME PLACES. AND NOW A VEHICLE DIES IN THE CENTER LANE. BOOM. IF THIS WAS THE FAILURE OF A WEAR ITEM AND COULD NOT BE HELPED, THAT WOULD BE ONE THING. BUT CHRYSLER/JEEP KNEW THEY WERE PUTTING OUT BAD TRANSMISSIONS FOR YEARS AND DID NOTHING. IN OUR CASE CHAMPION IN MISSISSIPPI MISDIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE THROTTLE BODY AND REPLACED IT. THE PROBLEM REMAINED. BAYSIDE IN VIRGINIA REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AGAIN, THE TRANSMISSION AND THEN THE
I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS JUST ABOUT EVERYONE HERE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. I HAVE STALLED TWICE AND ONE OF THOSE TIMES ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE I WAS EXITING THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT STALLED. MANY TIMES NOW FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS IT HAS BEEN SLOWING DOWN TO A CRAWL AND REPEATEDLY HESITATING LIKE IT'S CHOKING. THIS HAPPENS PRESENTLY, AT ALMOST EVERY TURN I MAKE AND SOMETIMES I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. DEFINITELY SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO AS IT MOST CERTAINLY IS A ROAD SAFETY CONCERN/ISSUE.
I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY ROAD AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING MY JEEP JUST STALLED. I LOST ALL ENGINE POWER, POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OFVTHE ROAD. I PUT CAR IN PARK AND TURNED THE KEY TO OFF POSITION. TRIED TO RESTART AND IT WOULD NOT, BUT CONTINUED TO TRY TO START BY ITSELF. WHICH IN TURN KILLED THE BATTERY. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS HAPPENED TODAY WHICH IS A SATURDAY AND MAYBE THEY WILL GET TO LOOK AT IT ON MONDAY. THIS REALLY SCARED ME AS I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED. THANK GOD MY DAUGHTER WAS NOT WITH ME AS IT WAS ONLY 5 DEGREES AND SNOWING.
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING IN MOTION IN HER 2015 PATRIOT WHEN SIMULTANEOUSLY THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE AND TRACTION CONTROL ICONS ALL CAME ON. SUDDENLY THE CAR STARTED TO LOSE POWER AND JERKING SLOWLY BACK AND FORTH. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO A FIRESTONE AND THE SERVICE TECH SAID IT LOOKS LIKE FAILURE TO THE THROTTLE CONTROL. THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED AT CAREFULLY SINCE THE DRIVER LOSES CONTROL WITH NO POWER OF THE VEHICLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. MANY PEOPLE REPORT THIS SAME PROBLEM ON CARPROBLEMZOO.COM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, WHEN HE HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO HIS DESTINATION. THE CONTACT CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER MONROEVILLE CHRYSLER JEEP (3651 WILLIAM PENN HWY, MONROEVILLE, PA 15146, (412) 856-1422) AND MADE THE DEALER AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 34,000.
DRIVING ALONG AT SPEEDS OF 35 MPH, THE ENGINE RANDOMLY SHUT OFF, LOCKED THE STEERING WHEEL, AND CAME TO A STOP. THIS OCCURRED ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET. THE NEXT DAY, THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED ON A STATE ROUTE 28. A MANUAL RESTART OF THE VEHICLE WAS REQUIRED EACH TIME, AND THE ISSUE OCCURS DAILY. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS, SPEEDS, TIMES OF DAY, ETC. THIS IS A LIFE THREATENING ISSUE.
I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY TWICE IN 9 MONTHS WITH 90K MILEAGE AND IT STILL STUTTERS AFTER BOTH REPLACEMENTS.
DURING DRIVING, THE CAR STALLS OUT, RPM GOES TO ZERO AND IT FLUCTUATES RANDOMLY EVEN DURING HIGHER SPEEDS ON HIGHWAYS AND STREETS. THIS RISKS AN AUTO ACCIDENT DUE TO LOSING POWER AT SPEEDS OF UP TO 70 MPH.
PURCHASED MY 2015 JEEP PATRIOT ON 10/16/2020. THREE HOURS LATER, AS I WAS DRIVING HOME, I HAD A MAJOR LOSS OF POWER (WENT FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS TO 10MPH) AND THE DASH LIT UP WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL AND "LIGHTNING BOLT" ALL FLASHING OR LIT. I ALSO LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND THE JEEP WOULD ONLY COAST AT 10MPH AND WOULD SHAKE/SHUDDER IF STOPPED.
WHILE MY CAR WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY OF MY HOUSE THE DRIVER HEADREST DEPLOYED. NO COLLISION OCCURRED. THE PLASTIC CLIP HOLDING THE HEADREST IN POSITION BROKE AND THE HEADREST DEPLOYED.
CAR LOSE POWER WILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65MILES P/ HOURFROM 65MILES TO 5MP/H,THIS IS A SAFETY ISUE, SURE BE ADRESS AS A SAFETY RECALL,WE COULD GET HIT FROM BEHIND AT THE FREEWAY,WE FOUND OUT THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A FAILURE OF THE THROTLE CONTROL VALVE.
CVT TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SLIGHTLY SLIP AT AROUND 90,000 MILES AND AT THE TIME I DID NOT KNOW THAT THIS WAS IN FACT THE PROBLEM. AS TIME WENT ON IT BECAME MORE OBVIOUS WHAT IT WAS AND OF COURSE AFTER 100,000 MILES IS WHEN THE WARRANTY WAS GOOD NOLONGER SO LOST OUT ON THAT.
THE ENGINE STALLS UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING, DUE TO THE INTERMITTENT FAILURE OF THE CRANKSHAFT OR CAMSHAFT SENSOR ON THE ENGINE. THIS COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
