It’s all happened over last year and engine light came on Sat

This problem started 3 o 4 day after I got the car from the dealer, I was driven to my work in highway 70 lonoke Arkansas and suddenly my car started to shift back and started to lose velocity and others cars started to pass me, was very scary ,I took the car to the dealer and they told me, they don't know what happen with the car, they don't let the mechanic to fix it and I took the vehicle to O'Reilly, they scanned it and found that was the Coil and Sparkle,so I bought both and they recommended the next door mechanic TIRE AND LUBE. In lonoke, the car run good for 2 months because I fix it February 8th 2023 and April 4 again I was driven back from my work, the check engine come one a message of transmission service show up, the car started to backup or speed, lose velocity, took it to the mechanic, they scanned it again and show a code P0887 that mean,TCM need to be fix or the Software computer. All this happens in less of the 3 months that I got this car, I got the car in January 17th 2023.Is very important for my safety and the safety of others to know, if is any anomaly with those Cars, that can't be fix no matter what, because right now today April 6th I am sitting here waiting the dealer call me for take my car to be checked it and I m scare to drive, because I don't know how the car go to behave and also already, I have a lot of money invested in this car that even doesn't help me to get to work, I scare for me and others. I can't drive in the Freeway I 40 because with
Bad PTU unit in Jeep part #68307403AG. Have not been able to drive jeep for half a year now due to bad ptu unit. Jeep will swerve and driver will lose control of steering. Warning stating 4wd is currently unavailable this will have approximately every 15-20 mins. PTU has been on back order for over 6 months now.
This car has had reoccurring issues related to the engine, ignition module and starter. It breaks down every few weeks. It has left me broken down and stranded on freeways, city roads and most recently on the side of a hill. When the key is inserted, it will not turn over completely and even after the key is removed the engine continues to make clicking sounds as if it is still trying to turn over and it smokes from underneath the hood. There were no warning indications. It has been taken to the dealer numerous times for the same issue but they do not find a problem and return it back to me just for it to occur again. Or the dealership will say they've fixed it but nothing has actually been done to the car. The dealership continues to be negligent. After the most recent occurence of the car leaving me stuck on the side of a hill and smoking, it was brought to the dealership August 2021 and still remains there as they continue to give me false hop in repairs. I have now not that vehicle in my possession for 6 months.
On 1/30/2023, I had a flat tire and called AAA for assistance. The AAA technician was unable to remove the tire and said the vehicle would need to be taken to a full-service auto shop. I then called Firestone Complete Auto Care to see if my vehicle could be looked at there. The Firestone technician let me know the problem with getting the tire off was relating to the lug nuts. He explained Jeep started using a 2-piece lug nut, where water gets inside and causes swelling. The technician said he has seen this numerous times in Jeeps...and mentioned it should be a recall because it is a safety issue. I contacted Jeep 5 times about this. They said there is no recall, and they didn't really care to help me with this. I ended up paying to replace all the lug nuts on my vehicle because I didn't want to have the same thing happen or worse. The people at Jeep have been very dismissive about this, although I have seen many complaints and reviews relating to the same lug nut issue.
Let's start with my vehicle was first in the shop back in February for a failed brake line. Some how it failed. Then my thermoset unit failed. Not sure why on that either. Then they noticed some other issues were fixed. I got my vehicle back. A few days later my vehicle was back in the shop because my transmission kept doing something causing me to keep getting kicked out of gear causing me to stop in the middle of the intersections which could have caused an accident. I lost my acceleration control and while driving I kept losing traction. Then supposedly fixed it. Then the same day I got it back I had to send it back to dealership due to the transmission kept getting kicked out of gear causing me to get stuck in the middle of an intersection. They finally towed it. Apparantly they need a part which is currently on back order for some unknown reason.
Warning system telling me of a problem. Problem with the transfer case. 4 wheel drive issue. Only about 65k miles
My dash is bubbling up. The topsy the windshield needs replacing.
Received message on dashboard service transmission after 22,700 miles and bringing car to delearship where car was purchased and has been serviced I was just informed transmission is out need new transmission. This is my second Jeep at the same dealership with transmission being a faulty one, also with less than 25,000 miles
Engine oil cooler failure, had to be replaced. Known issue per 3 techs. Leaks oil onto engine and exhaust. No warning, just the smoke and smell of burning oil. Occurred at 73,200 miles more or less.
PTU unit failed.Took to dealer confirmed PTU failed.
This is directly copied from the nhsta.gov website in regulars to recall repairs. This is False information. The car has not had the emission recall completed. The item has been on back order since the notice was mailed to me. On first attempt Jeep dealership O Brian in Greenwood Indiana says the part is back ordered. There is a national shortage. They can not complete repair. Refuses to note my account that I contacted them for repair. 14 months when first. 2nd attempt the part is still back ordered and they are un aware of when the part will become available. They are booked 7 months out for repair as the item becomes available: 3rd attempt jeep dealership Washington st Indianapolis. Dealer says. 4-6 months for repair and asks me if I need the vehicle. I said yes it’s my car, my transportation. I’m am offered to leave the car on the lot and they will try to fit it in when they can. They will not offer a car to use while mine is waiting on the lot. 4th attempt still I am told at jeep Greenwood 3-4 months but I can leave the car and they will get to it eventually. I decline. I call FCA October 2022. Inform them that I have been making contact and no one is able to fix the car. I explain the vehicles decline over the past months. I tell them my emission warranty was ending within 200 mil.Abd asked what do I do. They told me to park the car and not use it. They won’t note my acct that I contacted them trying to avoid the end of warranty loss. They won’t pay for rental car while

Car has only once had a MIL light activate. It was at 76000 and required a thermostat replacement. Cost 250 mechanics labor and part cost. The car has needed to have1qt added every 2k miles. No oil light comes on. When I purchased the car at 72k I would smell gasoline and burning oil. Took it to Napleton jeep where I bought it and had the oil changed to be safe. The same week I purchased it. Mechanic informed me it was “just a little low” 3qts. The car holds 5,5 - that’s more than a Little low. He nor the manager informs me Of oil consumption problems. The car currently has oil sitting on top of the engine. I will add a picture of the cars engine the day after having the oil changed and the excess oil cleans off. The image will show the amount of oil that was back on it just from driving it home a 12 min drive not stop and go. Dealership finally noted it was 3 qts low. Contacted fca. They refused to do anything but said to start a oil consumption test. They suggested the emmison recall should fix the oil consumption. Fca was aware that I couldn’t put 1500 miles on the car before the long block engine replace for the class action lawsuit on Tigershark engines last day to file claim was in 7 days. They were aware all dealerships refused to give me my paper work for servicing and oil being low prior
The component that needed replacement was the PTU (Power Transfer Unit). My Service 4WD drive light began going on so I brought it to my mechanic who told me there was a recall associated with this diagnostic code and to bring it to Jeep dealership. I then brought to dealership, was charged $160.00 and told that the recall was not for my particular VIN number and the cost of the repair was $3,000. When I googled this issue, there were all of the same warning lights, and all told that the PTU had failed. I fond it hard to believe that this same unit is faulty in the same year, make and model but only in specific cars? Isn't it the same part? I had to save up for the repair as it was costly. I was told that the car was drive-able. I was then driving with my daughter in the car and the car stopped accelerating and warning lights came on. I had to coast into a parking lot and the dashboard flashed to put the car in park. I put it in park and then car still would not accelerate. I called Jeep Customer Service to try and discuss this matter, as I could not afford the repair but need my vehicle for my job. They told me there was nothing they could do and there was no recall on my vehicle. The problem has been repaired by an independant service center on 2/8/23 for $1430.00 I have been a loyal Jeep customer for over 20 years and was very disheartened by this latest issue and how it was handled.
While driving, when attempting to accelerate, the vehicle dies. Have to pull over, shift into park and attempt to restart. Sometimes restarts quickly, sometimes you have to crank and crank. Also dies if you have to stop suddenly. Example, when someone pulls out in front of you or changes lane/swerves in front of you. Problem was intermittent, in cold weather, when vehicle was cold. Now, it is likely to happen at any time. This creates a dangerous situation, trying to get off of the road when it dies. Check engine light is on, and "lightning bolt" dash light comes on when vehicle stalls. Ran diagnostic - revealed no code.
The contact's sister-in-law owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the service shifter warning message appeared on the instrument panel. The contact inspected the vehicle and discovered that both the bezel and the column inside the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The local dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
Vehicle hesitates, vibrates, looses momentum, shutters, almost stalls when ac to touched since the day I bought it at napelton jeep in palm beach fla. I was told it’s a jeep thing. The engine roars to like like it’s fighting to start. A fan sound will go on and off non stop effecting the power and rpm’s. A loss of power happens and then the car goes back to normal after a completely shaking the cab vibrating and shuttering
Car refused to exit cruise control, again Instead it accelerated. I pressed again and again cruise control to stop it did not respond. Repeatedly And more frantic I pushed pushed the button as stopped cars grew closer. The car started to accelerate instead and refused to stop Even when pressing the brake. I was able to push the brake down enough to get to engage neutral after multiple attempts. I feared fir my life and for others due to not being in control of the vehicle that was not responding to commands. I was told that the vehicle had been serviced for this problem when it happens to me prior and the dealership refused a free update due to a tsb saying it has been corrected already and I would have to pay. The dealer didn’t even not my vehicle as I asked. I was told if I’m not paying I’m not a customer and they don’t note a account for non customers. Jeep dealer Greenwood Indiana. They also wanted to charge 400 to find out why I had water leaking in the back hatch on the drivers side and said they had no knowledge of a issue with that and would not note a non Customer acct for that either. Approximately march of 2022 definitely the year maybe later in the month of the year. It was not winter though
Car randomly looses all power. I was driving with out any indication of a problem then the car stalls out causing a life or death moment. When I was about to get the car to restart I was overwhelmed with codes noting loss of communication with almost all body controls. 84k mi
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal oil odor inside the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the oil filter housing was cracked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000.
Service 4wd light is coming on. Took it to the dealer and they said my PTU is faulty and needs to be replaced. This is not covered under recall because my VIN number is not included. Upon research, over 60,000 Jeep Cherokees made from 2014-2017 were recalled for this same problem. My Jeep Cherokee is a 2016. This should be a recall for all models/VINs since mine falls in that range but for some reason is not included in the recall, yet is having the same issues.
My power transfer unit needs replaced at 39554 miles. Jeeps similar to mine have been recalled with the same problem. My service 4wd light came on which alerted me of the problem. I no longer have 4wd functionality on my car. I had the problem diagnosed today by the Medina Auto Mall Dealership. Driving with a failed power transfer unit is dangerous.

My "SERVICE SHIFTER" light keeps coming on. I have had it looked at 2 different times before. I have owned the vehicle for almost 2 years, and has done it after the 2nd month of having it.
My 2016 jeep Cherokee Limited which has the 2.4 L Tiger Shark engine is failing miserably. There is a extremely obvious ring around the entirety of the engine block. The manifold gasket has failed. The head gasket has never been removed by myself or by a jeep dealership who had my authority to do so. The indicator lights on my vehicle still have not illuminated other than alerting in me I had a faulty water pump which had to be replaced at 75k miles. The OEM thermostat is plastic. Not metal as it should be considering the elevated temp produced by 2.4 L Tiger Shark engine. That engine has destroyed the gasket. The damage started at the right hand side”opposite of oil opening” about the middle of the gasket head. My vehicle was serviced by jeep multiple times at Napleton’s JDR in West Palm Beach and the Jeep dealership in Greenwood Indiana. No one brought to my attention that I should have them investigate that. Instead alerted me to my windshield wipers needing to be replaced, Mind you a had done that the month prior from the same dealership. I question now why the engine was so very deeply cleaned when I purchased it and they even cleaned it twice in the days between me seeing and picking up the vehicle. They are aware of this. They were doing the oil changes. I asked how the oil was they always just said a bit low and never mentioned it unless asked. My next statement will be the now knocking pinging pistons. Mind you this Tiger Shark engine lifters/pistions are put in moti

Jeep Cherokee 2016 has known Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 08-060-16 for electronic parking brake (EPB) malfunction. The EPB remains in the on position and automobile is not drivable nor safe to drive for risk of parking brake engaging without warning. Reason for the malfunction is due to water corrosion and damage to the connector module. (See attached pictures). According to our mechanic, the main issue is the part(s) needed to fix the issue are not available and not expected to be available until January 30, 2023. The time frame for this part continues to be pushed back. Originally was December 26, 2022.
Service 4 wheel drive is on my 2016 Jeep Cherokee. Took it in to the dealership and they said it’s my PTU. My car should have been included in the 2020 recall on PTU. The jeep can seize up and it can stop working. It also can not go into park and can roll away. Not safe at all.
Seems to be slipping
When I was driving my 2016 Jeep Cherokee Limited through the grocery store parking lot today to pick up my groceries at the front of the store, my emergency parking brake suddenly came on and made my car skid to an abrupt stop. Fortunately, the pickup truck behind me did not run into the back of my car. A message on my dashboard said to depress the brake and then the emergency brake button to release the emergency brake. I did that, but as soon as I tried driving forward, the emergency brake kept automatically turning on and abruptly stopping my car. I was blocking traffic, so I had to turn the steering wheel to enter the closest available parking spot by repeatedly releasing the emergency brake and lurching forward a few feet before being abruptly stopped by the automatic emergency brake over and over again until the car was safely out of the way. I had to call the grocery store to have them hold my groceries and then call a friend to drive me home because it is Sunday and all the service garages are closed. Thank God I was not out on the highway. I recently complained to the Jeep dealership that it appears the previous recall repair to fix water leaking into the back of my car has failed, but they said there is no further recall for that. Now I see there are several owners with this same emergency brake problem that is most likely related to the leaking water. The previous recall said the car is unsafe and could catch on fire due to wires shorting. It is unbelievable that J
In early November, started getting a warning that said 4WD System Unavailable and Service 4WD System. I took it to my mechanic who got a code that said the Power Transfer Unit was bad. He looked it up and said there was an active recall on this. I took it to a dealer ship , and they confirmed this. However, according to them and Jeep, there is no recall on my vehicle. With so many PTUs failing, how can there not be an extended warranty/recall on this part. I'm afraid to use the vehicle in the snow because if it switches to 4WD, I'm worried the unit will fail and I will be stranded.
In multiple occasions the vehicle engaged automatic breaks while driving without any obstacles around. Some of those were accompanied by a break warning in the dashboard. In all cases, the break disengaged, and it was possible to continue driving the vehicle. It was lucky that there was no car close behind, as it would otherwise cause an accident. The vehicle was taken to an auto repair shop. They were able to replicate the behavior but were not able to pinpoint the cause.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while his fiancé was driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle crashed head-on into a tree. During the crash, the front-end was severely damaged but no air bags deployed. During the crash, the driver sustained head and neck injuries rendering her unconscious. The driver also sustained an injured right knee, leg contusions, and lacerations; along with chest and torso injuries. The driver was transported from the scene to seek medical attention. A police report was taken at the scene. The vehicle was towed from the scene. The vehicle was later deemed destroyed by the insurance company. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.
Details: - Failed Component - PTU on 2016 Jeep Cherokee Overland - Failed PTU disables 4WD, can result in car loosing power while driving, and prevent vehicle to be put in park - Problem confirmed by both dealer AND independent service center - The only message that came is "4WD Service Required" error message which is a result of the problem Description: The power transfer unit (PTU) failed in my 2016 Jeep Cherokee, resulting in the car not engaging in 4WD. The PTU is an important element of the all-wheel-drive system. A failed PTU may not be able to maintain a connection between the transmission and the front wheels. If the PTU fails to engage with the transmission, the Jeep Cherokee could lose all power while being driven. Also, a failure to engage could keep the vehicle from being put into park when stationary, allowing it to roll away. Either situation could result in a crash or injuries. There are already two recalls involving the Jeep Cherokee, and they involve the same problem. However, the VIN of my car is not included in those recalls.
My electric parking brake engaged when I parked my car, as it should have as I have Auto Park Brake engaged, but when I got in the car the next day the rear left parking brake would no release, and even after resetting the car by taking the battery off and checking fuses to make sure nothing had blown, the brake never released and my car produced an engine warning light and the parking brake light never turned off even though the rest of the brakes released. The light on the trigger on the center console flashes 24/7 now and none of my E brakes work now. I'm not sure why it does this but it has prevented me from using remote start since my engine light is on even though it has no other problems, and from using my E brakes to park, which has been quite rough on my transmission since I almost exclusively park on hills. I know this has been a problem for a few jeeps in these year models now and it seems too common to be used error.
4wd Service light comes on and the AWD system disengages while being used in slippery conditions, the system sometime clears and the system will re-engage.
I have a failed power transfer unit (PTU) 4WD light is on. This should be considered a recall i found that thousands of jeep owners have this same issue
The PTU failed in my 2016 Jeep Cherokee. This was diagnosed when the SVC 4WD light came on in September. The problem code is C14A7-97. From my online research I know this is a persistent problem with Jeeps with model year 2014-2017 resulting in multiple recalls because the problem has resulted in vehicles being disabled and multiple crashes. However, my VIN number was not included in those recalled by Chrysler. I ordered a replacement in early October and was told the part would be ready in 4-6 weeks. It is now two months later and the part is still not available. I’m told that at this point the part won’t be available until January. The vehicle transmission began making noises over the weekend related to the PTU. This is clearly a persistent and extensive safety issue that Chrysler is negligent in addressing. I have also been told by the service department at the dealer that there are 389 other Jeep drivers waiting for this part.
Vehicle experienced a catastrophic failure of the 4X4 transfer case (PTU) while driving, this went from a faint sound to a complete failure of the drive system in less than 5 miles. Vehicle was rendered completely UN-drivable almost immediately. If I had been on the highway I think this could have been a very serious incident that may have locked up the drive wheels. Fortunately, I was on a side road going only 25 MPH at the time. Dealer has no repair parts available, manufacturer claims no responsibility, although I have read in forums on line about many similar type failures.
The right side visor came loose, not being able to hold any position, hanging to be a distraction and impeding view. The issue seems to be a plastic component of the swivel joint broke just above where it's reinforced by metal. I assume both sides have similar construction/design, at risk of this mode of failure. A quick internet search leads me to believe this is common, with others indicating the breaking at the same place. Although this may be considered a convenience item, the function of shading sun, and its place within the field of view, makes it a safety concern.
In December of 2021, we had an issue where the car braking system locked up while driving at a slow pace. Brakes seized without as if parking brake was on and we were unable to drive the vehicle. It was locked in place. Could not put in neutral, or drive or release any brake. We towed it to the closest auto service who ran diagnostics and determined it to be a faulty brake system. They replaced the Antilock Braking System module and reprogrammed it, and also replaced the brake sensor and brake booster. All for $2400. The car seemed fine until July 2022 when the brakes seized again while my daughter was driving it. We had to again have it towed and naturally went back to the place where it was originally fixed. They said the brake booster and brake switch were defective. They replaced both. Now on Monday 11/21 my son was driving the car in Philadelphia and the brakes would NOT work while he was approaching an intersection. He was slamming on the brakes to avoid hitting car in front and luckily he stopped just short of hitting car. The brakes completely seized, unable to put the car in park or drive and had to be towed to a service center. We then had it towed from PA to MD to Ourisman Jeep Service Center. They are saying that we need to now replace the vacuum pressure sensor and pressure line and possibly the brake booster again but they won't know for sure until the pressure sensor and line is changed. This is getting to be ridiculous and very pricey but most importantly-SO S
When I went to leave work yesterday on my dash a "P" with a circle around it was illuminated on my dash is orange. I also was unable to drive in reverse as my cars parking brake was on. I tried many things to get it to release with no luck. It took about 20 minutes of turning on and off the car, googling, depressing the break and many other items. I don't know how but i finally was able to find the right combination of knobs break petal and excel ration it dropped into reverse. Late that evening I attempted to leave my home again it would not allow me to back up. I was unable to use my car and was forced to Uber. I have since unhooked my batterie, did a combination of break petal, seat belt, brake release and gas to allow the care to reverse 5/10 times. This I hear is a continued issue with a Jeep and I should file this issue with NHTSA.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the transmission warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the transfer case and power train unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V343000 (Power Train). The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.

Vehicle frequently has issues with the touch screen for the radio as well as the mechanical controls for the radio stop responding causing me to be unable to control the volume, power, tuning, using touch screen to control whether I am using the am/fm radio, bluetooth or other media options. When this happens the screen turns completely black as if there is no power going to the radio appearing and acting as if I have not started the vehicle at all. The radio also frequently switches itself from both Bluetooth and FM options to the same AM channel by itself. I actually had to take my vehicle in to the dealership and pay out of my own pocket after I was driving on a busy freeway and my vehicle suddenly stopped responding to me pressing the accelerator and the dash began flashing . The vehicle then turned completely off forcing me to shift into neutral and restart the vehicle again while actively slowing down on the freeway without any warning. When I restarted my vehicle and I put it back into drive I could then only accelerate to 25mph . When I took the vehicle in I had to pay for them to reprogram my computer and after researching I discovered that this was already a problem that caused a recall but upon bringing this up to the dealership as well as calling Chrysler directly I was informed that even though the problem was the same as the recall they issued my vin number was not a part of the recall so they couldn’t and would not do anything for me. The date this occurred may
I’ve had this vehicle for a few years now and at the time of purchase the vehicle had 16,000-18,000 miles on it. It’s a 2016 and I believe I purchased the vehicle in 2019 so I’ve had it for about three years now. I didn’t really start to pay any attention to the shaking/shimmy/wobble that the vehicle has until about a year after I purchased it because at first it wasn’t nearly as noticeable as it is today and I had just upgraded from a cheap little Chevy cobalt that was a beater and the jeep was a huge upgrade and improvement from that vehicle causing me to gloss over the problem initially. The problem seems to get worse over time and regardless of me getting new tires, getting them balanced and alignments the same shaking/wobbling/shimmying persists. No issues can be determined that would cause the problem and I am told that the shaking is normal upon reaching higher speeds or that the complaint cannot be replicated. The shaking starts anytime I begin to reach speeds around 45 mph and higher and then seem to stop once reaching speeds around 65 mph . To test further I’ve reached speeds of around 80 mph and again the shaking starts once you get around 70 mph but does not stop shaking when letting off of the accelerator as it does at speeds of 65 mph and lower but instead continues to shake while both pressing the accelerator and letting off of the accelerator becoming worse if you apply the brakes. The shake seems to come from only the front wheels and is violent enough of a s
During driving the SVS 4WD light appeared on the display. About the same time the Larger display flashed 4 wheel drive not available along with an audible bell. The jeep was taken to one dealer and the repair estimate was $6900. Took to another dealer who charged $134. for diagnosis and said the PTU was defective and the cost would be $3600 but the units were on back order and it could be 2 to 6 months to get a PTU unit. I was told I could continue driving the vehicle but would have no 4 wheel drive. I am driving the vehicle and the Bell sounds at interval saying to service 4 wheel drive and that it is not available. FCA has not offered any assistance on parts or labor and has said out of warrantee. Dealer said that it is a common problem that FCA should have addressed.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
