Defect. Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling various 2002-2016 recreational vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V746-9524.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. Risk. In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy. Jayco will notify owners, instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2018. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE RAM 2500 HITCHED TO A 2005 JAYCO TALON TRAILER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 3 TO 4 MPH, ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN WHEN THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE WHEEL. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH A SPARE. THE JAYCO TRAILER DOES NOT DISPLAY THE MILEAGE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD.
