Purchased the 2017 Hyundai Tucson used (2nd owner) with 62000 miles, before the vehicle was driven 10000 miles the vehicle stalled on the freeway, when it started back up wouldn’t go over 40 miles -took to the nearest dealership where they replaced the entire electrical mainframe for the engine, covered by Hyundai. Vehicle stalled again and check engine light came on around 81000 miles, took to the dealership again and they diagnosed as catalytic converter needed to be replaced - out of pocket expense. A month later check engine light on again, back at the Hyundai dealership and diagnosed as engine failure. Hyundai is trying not to cover the engine, currently have an active case with Hyundai due to engine manufacturing errors/problems and problems with oil consumption - we were supposed to start the oil consumption test right around when the engine failed too.

We are getting a Knock sensor ERROR & Oil consumption issue. So last year I had a few recalls on my car, I took it to the dealer for then to do the updates. One of the recalls was the knock sensor. Also last year, the check engine light come on and Tires plus said it was my Knock sensor. Tires Plus cleared the code and it was fine until I had an oil change due this month I still had 3000 miles before it was due and the check engine light came on again, But this time I couldn't drive over 20 mph. I had to get it towed to a mechanic in Collegeville. His diagnostics was it was the knock sensor, He told me that Hyundai knows this is a problem but won’t fix it until it presents a problem. That being said The Collegeville Mechanic said its called a quiet recall. When I called Hyundai corp. recall center they told me that they don’t recognize quiet recalls. I had an appointment with the Springfield Hyundai Aug. 3, 2023 They would even look at it because the code was cleared but I called them first when it happened to get it towed there and they push the appointment back 3 weeks. I couldn't wait I need to get to work. I Also Recently 9/18/2023 Conicelli Hyundai and the guy told me when I got there that they have a whole lot full of Hyundai's that need Oil consumption test and would be able to look at my care un till March of 2024 That I have to take it back to where I bought it. When proceeding to move forward, the vehicle will sputter. Almost as if the vehicle is out of gas or not getting enough power to smoothly accelerate. This presents a very hazardous condition when leaving a red light or crossing an intersection. The vehicle jerks and sputters for about 2-4 seconds and then responds to the gas pedal and accelerates. Took it to the dealer and explained the problem and they said it's a known problem but there hasn't been a recommended fix and to drive the vehicle with the Turbo mode on. 6 Mar 2023 check engine light comes on. Took to my mechanic (they were closest to me) to put on machine to find out what the problem was; they state that it was the knock sensor and said to take it to the dealership and also let them know that it was down one quart of oil since the last oil change Jan 2023). Dealership took possession of vehicle on 8 March 23. Didn't begin repairs until 5 Apr. Then they state there was still noise from engine and found scoring on the cylinder walls and may be why it's consuming oil. Then they wanted oil change records. Finally, after providing records, "Hyundai approved replacement of engine". Legal battle ensued because they were charging for parts (lifters) that were no longer on my vehicle. Ended up having to pay for the full invoice after bullying and terroristic tactics only to have the check engine light come on again (picked up the evening of 15 Aug 23, CEL came on at 06:00 on 18 Aug 23). Eminent engine failure, limp mode and/or fire potential make me afraid to keep my vehicle but financially, I must keep it a while longer.

My Hyundai Tuscon has started to burn oil in 5/22 and I brought the car to the dealer (Pugi Hyundai in Downers Grove, IL) and the dealer at the time was directed by Hyundai that the vehicle needed to wait to do an oil consumption test. In 2-23 the vehicle was taken to Wilkens Hyundai and they preformed work on it. The vehicle still continued to burn oil. Hyundai stated I could not pull the dipstick and check oil. in 6-23, the I made a rapid stop in the vehicle and the oil pressure light briefly displayed and the engine started lightly sputtering at highway speeds causing a brief loss of power. At the same time, there was a brief period of blue smoke emitting from the exhaust causing visibility issues for me and other drivers. This event put me and other drivers at risk, The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer multiple times and it has not been determined the cause of failure and I am unable to check my oil during the oil consumption tests, putting me and other drivers at risk due to a potential stalled engine or seized engine due to loss of oil pressure.

I am not a mechanic but when I drive my vehicle, I feel like it doesn't have enough amps to move it along like it's missing something. I have pressed on the accelerator and heard a "winding noise" like the little engine that could but wants to. This is a horrible car!!! I have only had this vehicle for a month and it's a nightmare to drive. It sometimes does not accelerate, and the take-off is unbearable gives me the impression I will be rear ended one day. It even jerks and sputters, even the "rpm" feature shows high acceleration at inopportune times. I had a diagnostic performed and was told the plugs and ignition coils needed to be changed so I did that to the tune of $400 for the parts, and now not even a week later I am being told I need to change them again. How can this situation be rectified? I don't have another $400 every month in addition to the payment and insurance to replace those things every month. I want to know if you all have a fix for this to prevent all this unnecessary money from being spent. I am aware that a tune up is necessary but every month. Please tell me how this can be fixed thank you.

There is a problem with the dual clutch transmission on this 2017 Hyundai Tucson. There was a class action suit filed 2016 for transmission defects including the hesitation and shuddering issue and also grinding noises. I purchased this vehicle in 2020 with only 6600 (yes, hundred) miles not knowing of any problem or issues. 2023 in Tucson AZ when the weather started getting very warm end May, June I started noticing a bit of hesitation, sometimes like a grinding noise. This was not happening all of the time but from the reviews it happens when it gets warm. The shaking or shuddering as they call it and hesitation is very prominent and continuous now. When I had my car in for oil change in Tucson at the Hyundai dealer the service manager even drove it and said it was the dual clutch transmission. I asked about replacing the transmission then and he said that I did not have a warranty. That was another issue as I was told by Hyundai corporate before buying the vehicle that the 100,000 warranty would transfer to me. I found out in July it did not. I opened a case with Hyundai service who contacted Eastside Hyundai and I even got a call from the svc mngr who drove the vehicle. He said that Hyundai would not end up covering it all even if they said they would, they may have to have car for awhile and I would need a rental, and anything else negative about the situation. That manager never called back so caseworker called another dealer numerous times and said that they could chec

On July 22nd, the duel clutch malfunctioned & caused the vehicle gear shift to no longer engage. The car does not move in Drive or Reverse. It can only be pushed in Neutral or towed. This occurred while I was driving home on the highway with no warning lights or prior symptoms indicating a potential issue. The vehicle has not yet been seen by Hyundai but they did say that since my VIN was not registered to the existing recall, there is not much they can do & any repairs would be out of pocket. It has been seen by our family mechanic, PepBoys & has currently been sitting at AAMCO with no solution as of today since August 2nd. Geico said since this is a mechanical issue & not an accident, they cannot assist. Carmax Customer Relations (where I purchased the Vehicle on March 12th, 2023) has been informed but so far offered no solutions. I am told they cannot offer much assistance due to the 90-day warranty being surpassed, extended warranty not being purchased & the current milage on the car. A case with Hyundai Customer Relations has also been opened as of today, August 15th & they are escalating the issue to their legal department as we are considering taking legal action at this point.

No oil left in engine. They replaced filter and filled with oil the idled the car for some time and test drove. Tech said no power and there is internal engine damage. Starting in early 2023 my engine started consuming oil. My car only has 60,000 miles on it. It's ridiculous to do an engine consumption test because this is a known issue with a class action lawsuit having already been filed. There are numerous complaints out there about this issue and yet an engine recall has not been done. Hyundai needs forced to replace these engine NOW before someone is killed with one seizing in traffic. I just did an oil change in February. I clearly don't drive my vehicle often at all. I noticed an issue at acceleration all the sudden it would bog down and not take off. Thinking I needed to change the air filter I did just that and then the check engine light came on. I made it to an O'Reilly auto parts store with a code P0011. I checked my oil to find NOTHING on the dipstick. Second time this year this has happened.

The Hyundai Tucson 2017 we own experienced excessive oil burning, due to what appears to be a known Hyundai Engine failure which can cause the bearings to fail. My Hyundai Tucson appears to need new bearings which requires a full engine replacement based on how this car is made. This particular model does not have a recall on it however several other Hyundai models do for the very same known issue. This engine could have seized while driving at higher speeds on the freeway making this a serious safety matter. There does not appear to be a clear indicator of this excessive oil burning. The car was not leaking oil, was not smoking, but for some reason it was burning all oil between oil changes ( 3,000 miles). This 2017 engine should be able to go 5k miles between oil changes, however that was not the case. From reading various posts from other Hyundai Tucson owners, this issue is impacting more drivers than might be realized. The safety concern this kind of failure poses needs to be reviewed and someone needs to have Hyundai do the right thing and issue the recall for repair this known engine failure. People shouldn't have to lose their lives to get the right safety attention on this issue.

The vehicle was serviced not long after I got it as a certified pre-owned vehicle for reprogramming of the transmission, which I told it was a just a reprogramming to make it more reactive. The vehicle would fail to accelerate, or have delayed acceleration. I was not aware at the time that these vehicles were known to have faulty transmissions and if I known this at purchase I would have spent my money on a more reliable vehicle. The vehicles transmission is having issues again, not reversing, not accelerating, etc. The Hyundai dealership I got it from told me that they won't even get me into the dealership for a diagnostic until January 6th,,, which is a huge safety issue. Furthermore, apparently Hyundai is well away of the fact that they have allowed Hyundai owners to drive vehicles with faulty transmission and will not help with extended the warranty on their vehicles. I am 477 miles over 100,00. It seems as though they do not even want to help with repairs, even if they are out of pocket.

The check engine light started flashing and the vehicle would not go over 25 miles per hour. Thankfully I was pulling into a parking lot when the reduction in speed occurred. If this had happened on the interstate (which I commute on regularly) it could have been extremely dangerous. Hyundai dealership never returned my calls about service, I had the vehicle towed to another service provider (Jensen Tire & Auto) who performed a diagnostic which showed codes P0300/0302/1326/0011. They also said the engine was 2 quarts low on oil and there was no sign of an oil leak. The vehicle mileage was at 74344. I had oil changed at 71579 miles with full synthetic, and at 66230 miles prior to that. There is no sign of oil leak where I park the car. I regularly change my oil and service my car according to the manufacturer recommendation (just not at the dealership). This problem is not on the recall list for this vehicle, yet there are several instances of this posted in online forums. (https://www.carproblemzoo.com/hyundai/tucson/engine-burning-oil-problems.php). This problem is not due to lack of proper care, but to a dangerous defect in the Tuscon 2017 engine that misuses oil and causes a sudden an unexpected decrease in acceleration.
