Car has been meticulously maintained with the best oil and premium gasoline. The car is only used on the freeway at 60-70 mph. Husband was on his way home and engine light came on. Car started shaking horribly. He had put a fuel injector cleaner in his recent full tank the day before. Drove car to auto zone. Got the code for misfire on cylinder 3. Replaced all spark plugs. Still code. Replaced cylinder 3 coil. Still code. Swapped cylinder 2 coil with 3. Code still on 3. Took it to shop thinking fuel injectors. Car has no compression on cylinder 3. Needs engine. Hyundai has somehow gotten away with not having to replace engines unless they through a rod. This car has the knock update on it. A lot of others are in the same boat as me. Hyundai should be held accountable for faulty engines. It’s not safe to drive an engine with a bad cylinder that shakes violently.
My engine block or engine has a hole in it. All of my oil came out and my vehicle shut off. My brakes as well is not hard when pressed on, so I would have to pump it till it hardened. My safety and others safety was at risk while I was driving because my vehicle was not coming to a complete stop which could have resulted in a serious or fatal accident. As well as my engine block blowing making all the oil in my vehicle leak all on the road while driving on a busy road. Yes the problem has been confirmed BUT I was told that my car does not fall under the cars listed with the SAME issue on the recall list. No it has not been inspected by the manufacturer or police or insurance rep because I am being told I have to pay out of pocket and I am not able to afford the prices being told to me for an issue that I have not caused. There were no warning lamps or anything prior to this incident. I have went to many different mechanics for a diagnostic for my vehicle but they all say my vehicle is fine or they do not know what I am talking about.
My 2016 Hyundai Sonata started using and leaking oil in August 2023 when it had about 129,000 miles and when you tried to go faster than 55 miles per hr. it would not accelerate. We feel there is a danger to drive it in traffic. We took it to the dealership in Pensacola, FL. They found a valve cover gasket had multiple leaks which they replaced. Found a code P1326 (whatever that means), Performed T3G campaign and followed a flow chart and BCT test passed. Don't know that any of this addressed the fact that the motor won't accelerate. Charged me $3,000 for something. Car ran okay for a while and started doing the same thing again. In June of 2024, took it to local mechanic who ran diagnostics and replaced a coil and plugs which cost another $600. It ran a little better until August 2024 and took it back to local mechanic who did another diagnostic and replaced 4 plugs and PCV valve for another $300. It's now November 2024 and the car won't accelerate over 55 mph and we can't use it to drive to work.

Yes Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes, inspected by dealer and extended warranty Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? None, Tranmission failed without any warnings or check engine lights.
My Hyundai is currently experiencing an issue with the engine. At just about 100k miles, the car is having an issue with oil consumption, there are no evident leaks and I am going through 1.5 quarts of oil in a weeks time (less than 300 miles driven).
Car is still driving good, but after I've had it for a little over a year now the first thing I noticed was my horn went out, then the headlights went out, then my temp gage is flashing and the engine light comes on & off. Certain dash lights come on & off. I just got an oil change. I've been taking my vehicles to Pep Boys for several years now. My last oil change on the Sanoto was the 3rd or 4th oil change . One of the reps told me that my car is now consuming oil. He said it's not leaking on the ground but something is causing the oil to burn. I don't know if you have a warranty on it but he suggested I take it to the dealership. Again I've only had it a little over a year. I'm financing the vehicle and have about 4 more years to go. HELP!
I was driving as normal and twice about 3 min apart from each other my car went into emergency braking and stopped sudden. No red lights no warnings nothing. Also periodically my car dashboard lights will come on while driving filtering through all the hazard checks. Sometimes it stays on and sometimes it don't. Eventually dash goes back normal. Again all with no warning. Very scary
My car experiences issues around acceleration. It often feels like it gets “stuck” or hesitates when I try to accelerate from a stop (ex. a stoplight) or low speed or when I try to merge onto the highway. At times I have not been able to merge onto the highway at a safe speed because my acceleration gets stuck/lags at a low mph (ex. 35 mph onto a 70 mph highway). My car also excessively consumes oil. I started noticing the excessive oil consumption around 115K miles. My oil lamp does not illuminate when low on oil in nearly all cases I have been low on oil. It has only come on once (did not remain on) and oil was not present on the dipstick. I am 687 miles into my current 1,000-mile oil consumption test and have had to top off my oil twice. I started the test because my oil light flashed and oil was not present on the dipstick. The engine light came on 312 miles into the consumption test. I got a diagnostic code from AutoZone and relayed the diagnostic code to the dealership. The dealership said the code was related to low oil and to fill up with oil and bring the car to the dealership. I filled it with oil and drove the car to Luke’s Auto for an independent inspection. Their inspection found that the check engine light was from a failed e-cvvt and additional wear was present. I asked if this could be caused by oil consumption issues and they confirmed the possibility. Just over 300 miles from that incident, I checked my oil and it was once again low. I am deeply concerned ab
My 2016 Hyundai Sonata (pearl white) paint is peeling in many parts of my car. I went to Delray Hyundai where I purchased it in 2019. In August of 2023 I showed a supervisor and she set up an appointment for me to bring in the car for pictures. After Delray Hyundai took pictures I waited and waited to hear from them. I went to the dealership and spoke to the supervisor I was dealing with and she keep giving me excuses why they couldn't do it at that time, she keep telling me they didn't have a loaner car for me, to call or come back. I was frustrated but felt like they were going to take care of the problem. Her name was Piper. Finally after many months I was told they wouldn't do anything for me, and I was told by a worker to try Coconut Creek dealer because they have a paint dept. Well I'm [XXX] old and by myself and I cannot get there. It's very far away and I would have to travel [XXX]. I asked if they would bring the car there for me and was told no. I called Coconut Creek Hyundai and they told me no they couldn't help me. I love my Car and always got compliments on it but it's peeling so bad that it looks awful and I would never get the true value if I traded it in because of the failed paint. I have read and seen pictures of many other people on the internet that have the same problem. Can you please help me. Now it's more than the one side the other side of the car is peeling Thanks INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B
Engine in limp mode, CEL activated with code p1326. Knock sensor detection system activated, oil leaking. Car won't Rev past 1700 RPM.
My car currently has 93000 miles. Since I’ve had 76000 miles, I cannot make it to an oil change without my engine almost running out of oil. My maintenance is always done on time, especially considering I can’t even drive 3000 miles (out of my 5000 mile synthetic oil change life) without my oil light coming on and oil below dipstick. I have taken the car in multiple times, performed multiple engine oil consumption tests and even though my engine is burning a whole quart of oil every 1000 miles, they refuse to replace my engine. I even have an extended warranty through Hyundai so I don’t understand why a defective engine under warranty that literally can’t even drive a whole oil change cycle without running out of oil wouldn’t be replaced by the factory. Please help I’m afraid to take long trips because what if the engine runs out of oil?
We were told from Tulsa Hyundai that our car was involved in a massive recall due to engine failure and that the warranty had been extended to 150,000 miles on Theta engines. They told us we had to follow the process in order to have a claim submitted to Hyundai corporate. They required us to pay for a valve gasket replacement and a valve cover gasket ($1000), then to take the car home and drive for 1000 miles and then bring it back in. We brought it back in and were required to pay for a combustion cleaning (around $800) and then take it home and drive it for 1000 miles. We brought it back in and they performed the oil consumption test. They then submitted the claim to Hyundai and we heard back the next day (9/18/2024) that they were denying they claim due to it being an issue with piston rings instead of rod bearing failure. I called Hyundai and they basically said there was nothing else they would do. They told us we could be reimbursed for the $1800 we had to spend to go through that process. Those fees were incurred were not necessary, especially when Hyundai is not going to replace the engine. Hyundai markets on their dealer websites, "engines for life", yet they will do nothing to replace our engine that is in failure.
My Sonata has had continuous oil consumption issues. It is now at the dealership for service. They want to do repairs that may not work, to avoid replacing an engine that is under an Oil Consumption Recall. My car had an oil consumption test. At the time the dealership said it passed, this was a couple years ago. It now has the oil issues. The recall extends my warranty to 15 years/150,000 miles. If I have the repairs and they fail, the engine could seize up while I am driving it.
The paint on my 2016 Hyundai continues to peel. I have gone to get the vehicle repainted to no avail. The roof paint came off again and even bigger than the original peel. This is absolutely ridiculous, I see my extract same car on the road with the extract same problems. Not to mention the oil consumption. Across the board these vehicles have all the same issues. No one should have to keep paying out of pocket for a manufacturing issue and no wrong doing of their own. This is Hyundai’s wrong doing and they need to be held accountable for manufacturing such a cheap car. At some point all of my paint is going to come off, I should not have to pay yet for another repainting. I will continue to file complaints, and escalate even further if needed. Someone needs to call me back with a solution regarding this matter.
Intermittent loss of steering with my Hyundai Sonata 2016 since April 2024. Vehicle randomly loses power steering while turning and 2 warning lights appear (power steering light (eps)and traction control). This has put me and my passengers at risk several times- almost crashing into other cars and objects. I went to the mechanics two times- they have recalibrated steering angle and reset codes, but the problem continues, and I lose power steering intermittently. This is a very big safety risk and I am afraid to continue driving my car.
The Hyundai service department indicated a OCS Mat in the front passenger seat needs to be repaired. Currently the "seat belt" light remains on when there is no one in the front passenger seat. The "air bag" light on the dash remains on while the Sonata is in use. Based on what I have read, the safety concern is that the air bags may not deploy or certain air bags may deploy at unexpected times.
Both rear view mirrors on the doors have quit working cannot adjust them. apporx. mileage 86000 miles.
Paint The paint issue with hyundai is ridiculous. I have a 2016 Hyundai sonata. No matter if i’m driving, going through a car wash, or just sitting in the yard. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Corporate and a lawyer has been contacted and the said there wasn’t anything they could do. There is thousands of cars that look the same or worse than mine.
Thus is the second time my motor has blew up due to a recall in a year Hyundai refuses to replace my engine due to my driver door bring damaged. My vehicle is still being paid on and is fully covered. I was told to get it towed somewhere else and I'm about to lose my job due to nor having transportation
The paint chipping and causing rust to car
This car looses oil continuously. I put a quart of oil in it every week. Due to this oil leaking into the engine I have had many costly repairs to replace spark plugs, coil packs, air sensor and throttle. In the winter the coolant needs replaced weekly and no idea where that is being used at. Now again the car must go back to dealership for repairs for rough idle and loosing power while driving.
I'm making a complaint on my 2016 Hyundai Sonata’s engine. The problem started in February 2023 with the valve cover gasket leaking, the mileage was around 98,000 miles. Then, 2 months later, the oil pan was leaking. The vehicle was still losing oil. They can not find where the oil went to. Took the car to the dealer to do an oil pressure. Before the oil pressure, oil levels were down 1 ⅔ quart low. Drove the vehicle for 1,000 miles and checked and the oil was down ¾ quart low, which was in range according to Hydundia. Checking the oil level every 1,000 miles and the oil level were about 1 quart oil low. Since last year, checking the oil level every 1,000 miles until this month the oil level was 3 quarts low at 1,000 miles. This engine should be recalled, which I had found out several different ones I came across are having the same problem.
Vehicle suddenly shuts down while driving. This has happened several times and has cost lengthy repairs and towing fees but still keeps doing the same thing. After it shuts down once the car is reset it will work again for a little while and do the same thing over again.
Taking more engine oil and knocking engine noise
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle unexpectedly lost motive power. The check engine warning light illuminated. The contact was able to pull the vehicle to the side of the road. The vehicle was able to be restarted, and the contact noticed an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact was advised by the independent mechanic that the failure was common failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 111,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shuddered significantly. The contact stated that the vehicle stopped shuddering while shifted into neutral(N). Additionally, the contact stated that while driving and depressing the accelerator pedal, the failure recurred, and the vehicle jerked significantly. The low oil pressure warning light and the check engine warning light were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where four ignition coils and four spark plugs were replaced; however, the failure recurred four months later. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the spark plugs were replaced and a fuel induction cleaning service was performed; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated while driving 5 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was jumpstarted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that there was oil intrusion in the combustion chamber, and the spark plugs were fouled. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 95,050.
The motor burns oil causing oil to turn black. I have to add oil weekly and get oil changed every month regardless of mileage. The mechanic that works on it said that dipstick is wrong color and doesn’t look right in engine
Hello, My name is [XXX], hopefully this peaks your interest. i have been thru and thru with hyundai about this oil consumption and to be honest i have had it with this terrible company. unwilling to take responsibility for faulty engine issues in millions of individuals with the hyundai brand. Seems to me like this brand is all for profit and not for the customers. I should not have to pay for a combustion cleaning, multiple oil consumption test that are destroying my engine further in HOPES that they will replace my engine out of “goodwill” with no guarantee. This issue should definitely be added to the other recall vehicles that are listed for oil consumption problems, yet isn’t. there’s no reason my car should be burning through 5 quarts of oil in less than a week, this is obviously a manufacture issue and to be told the problem was a cracked oil pan that i paid $700 to fix at the dealership just to find out, that was not the issue, my car was not diagnosed correctly and i was charged for this oil pan replacement for absolutely no reason being that my vehicle is still CONSUMING oil, not leaking oil. i have checked for oil leaks myself, that is not the issue. my engine is consuming oil at a very rapid rate in the event i drive my car more than the 15 miles i drive to work and back, one errand run and 5 days of driving back and forth to work SHOULD NOT be using that much oil. my engine is getting hot from a 15 mile drive to work and i SHOULD NOT have to damage my engine furt
The oil box does not look right, Also there is an orange handle dipstick to check the oil. The dipstick should be yellow
1st Incident: The engine lost its acceleration power on the highway, giving a rattling noise. It was identified as misfire in cylinder 3. This was repaired and gaskets and timing chain replaced. 2nd Incident: The engine lost acceleration again on the highway with a loud rattling noise. On checking the OBD scanner it showed the Knock Sensor as the problem. On taking it into the dealership a KSDS software update was done. Current Situation: The car drinks up 2-3 qt of oil for every 1000 miles and has an intermittent rattling noise when accelerating Losing engine acceleration power on the middle of the highway is a very serious issue. And this keeps happening multiple times and Hyundai has refused to give me a proper explanation on this issue. Other mechanics have suggested to get a replacement from Hyundai as there is already a Lawsuit against these Faulty engines. On contacting Hyundai there has been no proper response. Please look into this as losing power on a busy highway poses danger not only to our car but to other oncoming vehicles as well. It has been a very harrowing experience for us and I am left with no option but to drive a faulty car which might lose power at anytime.
While driving (speed doesn’t matter, highway or city streets) the check hybrid system turn off engine message/code comes on. When u turn off the car and wait for a period of time the it’s not there anymore but the check engine light stays on and the car drive normal until the code comes back up. When the message comes up the engine loses power and and the car just slows down until the car is turned off. This is a safety hazard when you’re driving on a freeway and especially a freeway with no shoulder to pull over on or going through a read light with no speed. The car just does it periodically and when u take it to the dealership they say they can’t duplicate the problem. When all u do is hook a computer up and look for a code when the problem arises while driving you’re never going to find the issue. No the dealer hasn’t reproduced the problem because they didn’t drive the car just leaving it to sit up and checking codes doesn’t bring the problem to light. They wasn’t any warning signal or codes before this but not code p2600 and code p0401 are coming up. Spending $2000 for a part that will can’t be ordered anywhere but from the dealership and the problem still exist is not being logical. So many online reviews have the same problem and not one person has found out the problem from changing the electric water pump to transmission to the engine the warning sign still come back after some time. Me not being the 1st owner and the car out of warranty due to mileage is just robbi
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 MPH, the vehicle started to make an abnormal knocking noise. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled the vehicle over and stopped. The contact turned the vehicle off and on. The contact stated that she was able to shift into drive (D) and while depressing the accelerator pedal the abnormal knocking sound was heard. The contact stopped and had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that the engine had thrown a rod due to lack of engine oil and the lower part of the engine needed to be replaced. The contact stated that she had had the oil changed two weeks prior to the failure. The contact stated that she had not noticed any oil stains on the driveway at her residence prior to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
I took in my 2016 Hyundai Sonata to Anaheim Hyundai in California for 60,000 mile service. The Sonata was having power steering issues where time to time the power steering would go out. I bought the extended warranty so it was cover under the warranty but Hyundai stop making these parts according to the dealership. I don't understand how Hyundai can stop making a power steering parts to Sonata models from 2016-2019 when there are so many on the road with potential power steering safety issues. I was told by the dealership there are so many issues with these Sonata's, the power steering parts are hard to find. They had no idea if they could get OEM parts or even find after market parts. I was originally told on [XXX] when we took the car in it would take 2 to 3 days now two and half weeks later they have changed their story to "not sure when they are going to get the part" I don't understand how this was not a recall from Hyundai similar to Hyundai Sonata recall in 2016 for Sonata's made in 2010-2011. It appears Hyundai has multiples models with power steering issues and yet they stop making the parts, why? I would like someone at NHTSA to review the power steering failures that may or may not be being reported by Hyundai dealerships. Just trying to get the car fixed since my son drives it. Thank you. I am writing to report a concerning issue with my Hyundai Sonata 2016 regarding excessive oil consumption. Every 1000 miles, the vehicle requires approximately 1.5 quarts of oil, if not more. This rapid depletion of oil presents a significant safety risk for driving the car. Upon contacting the dealership regarding this matter, I was informed that they have no knowledge of such issues, which contradicts the numerous complaints I have read and heard from fellow Hyundai owners experiencing similar oil consumption problems. The dealership has suggested conducting an oil consumption test, which they advise will cost us a minimum of $280. However, it seems unfair to incur this expense for what appears to be a common manufacturing defect, particularly since our vehicle is no longer under warranty due to its mileage of 110,000 miles. I firmly believe that Hyundai should take responsibility for any related repair expenses arising from this issue. I urge you to address this matter promptly to ensure the safety and satisfaction of Hyundai customers. Thank you for your attention to this concern. I look forward to your prompt response and resolution.
FOR A YEAR THE RADIO WOULD NOT WORK OR PLAY AT TIMES OR YOU HEARD AUDIO BUT ABSOLUTELY NO VISUAL SCREEN AS FAR AS THE CHANNEL YOUR ON ETC. ALSO, THE SAME SCREEN FOR BACKUP CAMERA THE DEALER TOLD ME ON PHONE, ON THE FACE OF RADIO THERE IS A TINY PIN HOLE USE A PEN DEPRESS IT AND IT WILL REBOOT THE SYSTEM I DID AND IT WORKED. HOWEVER, AS TIME WENT ON IT STARTED TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY NOW THE RADIO OR SCREEN COMPLETELY DO NOT WORK INCLUDING BACK UP CAMERA. FINALLY, TODAY OFFICIALLY HAD FUSE CHECKED WHICH IS GOOD. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO BACK UP CAMERA PERIOD OR RADIO OR SCREEN DISPLAY OF ANY KIND. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH IT SEEMS TO BE COMMON ON THIS VEHICLE BUT NOW A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE FOR A CAR WITH ONLY 50 THOUSAND MILES RIDICULOUS
The 2016 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L engine have an abnormal oil consumption, every 1,000 miles consume 1 quart of oil. After the discover of the issue, the car was took to Hyundai dealership for service and confirmed the car have an excessive oil consumption. They performed engine flush with additives to clean up the engine and see if the oil consumption diminished. An oil consumption test is currently in process to see if there are positive results. I read multiple articles about oil consumption issues and most of the cases Hyundai decide to replace the engine.
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle also experienced reduced power and would not properly accelerate. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who determined that the engine had experienced excessive oil consumption. The vehicle was later taken to the local dealer who performed an oil consumption test and determined that the engine was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 78,000.
I was driving on the highway yesterday at 85mph when the engine light started flashing and the rpms went haywire. Then within 2 minutes of this taking place the car began to slow down and not want to go any further. I managed to get over to the shoulder of the road when the engine just shut off and would not restart. The engine drinks oil like crazy. We put oil in it every week and get frequent oil changes. On the day that it broke down on, I had been to the oil lube center that we do business with and had them top off all of my fluids. After looking into this problem online, it appears that there are many other people suffering with the same lemon of a car. Hyundai knows that there is a real problem with the 2016 Sonata, and they are not doing anything about it. We have spoken to the dealerships, and they say there's nothing they can do about the problem because it is out of warranty. We're still making payments on this vehicle and can't even drive it now. The mechanics said that the vehicle needs a new engine. Hyundai needs to issue a recall and help their customers instead of turning a blind eye to the problem. Driving at high speeds with absolutely no indication that there is a problem is a real danger. No indication lights had come on other that the flashing engine light and then within two minutes, dead on the side of the road.
ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED ON MY DASHBOARD IN LATE FEB 2024. AT THE SAME TIME, THERE WAS A NOTED FLUID LEAK ON MY PARKING SKIRT SO I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED DRIVING IT. ON [XXX] I HAD CAR TOWED TO MIKE'S AUTOMATIVE SERVICE STATION IN SOUTH MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN. HE REMEDIED THE ENGINE ISSUE WITH 'LEAK STOP'. ON [XXX], I WAS TRAVELING AN [XXX] FROM MILWAUKEE TO OSHKOSH. AROUND HALF WAY, THE ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING, THE OIL LIGHT WAS ON AND THE CAR LOST ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I ENGAGED MY HAZARD LIGHTS GIVEN I WAS IN HIGH TRAFFIC AT THAT TIME AND 'LIMPED' CAR TO THE NEARST GAS STATION, TO AVOID BEING STRANDED ON THE HIGHWAY. IT WAS TOWED TO A NEARBY LOCATION, RICHFIELD SERVICE CENTER-RICHFIELD WI. BOTH THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER AND THE SERVICE STATION REP, SEAN, ADVISED THIS OIL-LEAKING ENGINE BUSINESS WAS A WIDESPREAD AND WELL-KNOWN MANUFACTURER DEFECT FOR THIS VEHICLE'S MAKE/MODEL/YEAR. THEY PERFORMED A BRIEF DIAGNOSTIC REVIEW AND ADVISED THE ENGINE WOULD NEED FULL REPLACEMENT TO CONTINUE DRIVING. I REPORTED THIS INCIDENT TO HYUNDAI'S CUSTOMER SERVICE ONLINE PORTAL THIS DAY, TOO AND HAVE REQUESTED THEY REPLACE THE ENGINE, GIVEN THE MILEAGE HAS NOT EVEN REACHED 77,000 MILES. I FOUND NO ACTIVE RECALL OR WARRANTY ON THIS VEHICLE BUT CAN PROVE I AM THE SECOND OWNER, HAVING INHERITED IT FROM THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER, THE LATE [XXX] IN 2016/2017 (UNSURE EXACT DATE). THE VEHICLE IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION AT THIS TIME. I FELT TRAUMATIZED BY THIS EVENT, PRAYING NOT TO BE RUN OVER ON THE HIGHWAY
The blind spot detection system needs alignment. When the blind spot detection fails it disables traction control and anti-lock brakes. The parking sensor and backup sensors should have nothing to do with the antilogue brakes or traction control. Since these items are disabled traction does not exist and anti-lock brakes are ineffective.
I have a 2016 Hyundai Sonata that I purchased in 2021. The engine began "knocking" at 142,000 miles so I took it to dealership as it looked to be the same issue many of the Hyundais have been experiencing. I was then informed my claim was denied because a Service Campain from 2018 had not been performed. This is a known issue with these vehicles but my claim was denied over something outside of my control.
I was in a rear collision with an SUV but my air bags to the 2016 Hyundai Sonata did not deploy. Everybody was OK and nobody was injured in both parties.
Recall code on my engine p1326
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving at speeds of 50 - 60 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated, and the vehicle shut off. The driver made several attempts to restart the vehicle while attempting to accelerate. The vehicle was towed to the dealer three times. The first diagnostic report was that the knock sensors had failed and needed to be replaced. The knock sensors were replaced twice however, the failure remained persistent. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.
On February 6, around 3:46am, parked my vehicle on the driveway I noticed a smell like smoke, I looked at my dashboard but nothing was on, no warnings, so I entered my house a few minutes later Possibly 4 I heard a noise look outside from my window an noticed my car was on fire, immediately called 911 car garage door also cut on fire and the vehicle next to it. I m requesting an investigation Police report 24-031575, my vehicle was towed by insurance company Start Casualty claim # 2024-90001577.
Background Info : On November 28th, 2023 I filed a case with Hyundai Consumer Affairs due to smoke and sparks coming from my 2016 HYUNDAI SONATA engine. I was assigned to a Case Coordinator Carla who did not provide her last name at telephone 714-694-4963. She was my contact person for the repair. I signed a tow authorization on November 28th , 2023 authorizing HMA to tow the vehicle to the nearest Hyundai dealership due to some delays in coordination on behalf on my contact Carla and the dealership Pohanka Hyundai received my vehicle on approximately December 4th, 2023. Per correspondence from Carla she had contacted the dealership with no response until the 18th of December 2023; approximately two weeks after the dealership received my vehicle. She informed me that she had made countless attempts to reach a service team member for follow up on an inspection. On December 18th 2023 I got in contact with Joseph to inquire as to what his inspection found. He stated “That he did not see an oil leak and the car hand no oil.” I explained to him that was my car had been recently serviced at Jiffy Lube on August 1st 2023 at 44,664 miles for an oil change.
