The front monocular camera is defective causing the safety features (adaptive cruise control, collision warning, lane shift warning, auto brights, auto braking) to not function at all. This seems to be a known issue with many honda owners. The warnings show every time I start the van. This issue has been verified and the repair is costly.

Multiple Honda Sensing safety systems (collision mitigation, lane keeping, road departure, adaptive cruise, and auto high‑beam) disabled suddenly on 2020 Honda Odyssey EX‑L around 76,000 mi. Dealer and two independent diagnostics confirmed DTC U3000‑49, internal electronic failure of the forward recognition camera. The fault disables all automatic braking and lane‑keeping functions. Battery voltage and calibration verified OK; component failure is internal. Honda quoted ~$2,000 repair. This is a significant safety risk since all advertised crash‑avoidance functions stop working.

After purchasing my 2020 Honda Odyssey EX-L in July 2025 (had approximately 58,000 miles), in January 2026 (current mileage approximately 66,000 miles), it suddenly displayed multiple indicators on the dash, including 'ACC', 'LKAS', 'Brake System', 'Auto High Beam Problem', and 'Collision Mitigation'. My local mechanic indicated the cause was the collision radar system, but it needed to be calibrated at a Honda dealership. My local Honda dealership indicated the problem code as 'U3000-49 Internal Camera Malfunction', necessitating that the multi-purpose camera be replaced. The total repair cost was $2,104.99. Online research shows that this is a common issue with this model year. If the cause is due to a camera malfunction or disrepair, and it impacts the safety of myself and others in the vehicle, why is this not considered a valid reason for a recall? I shouldn't be responsible for a costly repair that didn't result from any mechanical issue or mistreatment on my part. Because of the safety implications, this should be a Honda recall, and I should be reimbursed for the repair cost.

All of my ADAS systems were disabled due to a water leak. The repair required the dealership to hire a "leak doctor" and then replace a module in the rear tailgate. My vehicle showed an alert on the dash that each of the ADAS features were disabled, auto high beams were disabled, and I could not turn the vehicle off by pushing the start/stop button once, I had to use a procedure that forced the vehicle to shut down. My interior dash lights flickered, I'm not sure if the headlights worked. As the interior dried out, the flickering occurred less frequently. I was able to drive the vehicle to a Honda dealer for repairs.

I am submitting this complaint to report a serious safety defect involving my Honda Odyssey equipped with Honda Sensing technology. During normal operation and without any accident, impact, windshield damage, repair, or environmental event, all Honda Sensing safety systems suddenly and simultaneously stopped working. The disabled systems include Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, Forward Collision Warning, and related camera- and radar-based features. Multiple warning messages appeared, and the vehicle effectively lost all advanced driver-assistance and collision-avoidance capabilities at once. This occurred without warning and without any action on my part. This failure is extremely concerning because Honda Sensing features are marketed and relied upon as critical active safety systems intended to help prevent or mitigate crashes. A sudden, total loss of these systems materially reduces vehicle safety and places occupants and other road users at increased risk. A safety system that can fail entirely and unexpectedly—absent any triggering event—indicates a potential systemic defect, not routine maintenance or wear. I am concerned this issue may affect other Honda vehicles equipped with Honda Sensing and may be related to a common failure in cameras, radar units, software, or vehicle electronics. I respectfully request that NHTSA review and log this complaint, investigate this failure pattern, and deter

Upon start up my 2020 Honda Odyssey EX-L throws a slew of pop-up’s on the dash (collision mitigation problem, auto high beam problem, adaptive cruise control problem, lane keep assist problem, road departure mitigation problem). It's been doing this for months, but when it started, I had just gotten an oil change 2 weeks prior and knew my mechanic would've caught this if it was something major. Last week I took it back in for another oil change and asked them to check these errors. They checked the battery and it’s fine (under 2 years old), but they confirmed it's the adaptive cruise control camera. They said not many places work on those cameras and I'll have to have the dealer do the repair. Well upon searching, it seems pretty consistent that this repair is costing owners $1700 because the camera has to be recalibrated with the software after it's replaced. I'm also seeing this problem appears to be widespread for Honda owners. Honda needs to do something to make this right for their customers. A $1700 repair for a camera that randomly dies by no fault of the owner is insane, and considering how many driver assistance systems to improve safety are affected, Honda should be held accountable. The contact owns a 2020 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the passenger’s and driver's side sliding doors were frequently not opening or closing as designed or intended. The contact had noticed the failure approximately 2 years prior; however, the failure was intermittent but had since gradually become more frequent. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that the pinch sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was no longer using the sliding doors out of concerns that the doors would remain open. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to a dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

Upon starting the vehicle, it failed to engage in reverse. Although the backup camera activated, the vehicle remained stationary. After multiple ignition cycles, the vehicle eventually engaged in reverse and then moved forward in Drive. However, shortly after, the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of power and entered "limp mode," restricting speed to approximately 15–20 mph regardless of throttle input. The engine revved excessively high without corresponding acceleration, and a severe burning/heat smell emanated from the transmission/engine compartment. This failure occurred without any prior warning; notably, no dashboard warning lights or "Check Engine" indicators illuminated to alert the driver of a mechanical or electronic fault. The sudden, un-signaled drop in speed on a public roadway created a significant safety hazard for following traffic and risked a rear-end collision. The vehicle was towed to a certified Honda dealership where the Transmission Control Module (TCM) was diagnosed as failed. The TCM is currently being replaced under the Honda Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) warranty. We do not know what else requires replacement and repairs. The dealership will not cover the replacement of the transmission fluid, or engine fluid, despite the fluid being subjected to extreme heat and potential damage during the failure and subsequent limp mode.

This is now the second time that we are having a rear hatch failure. with about 37,000 miles on this van, the control module shorted out due to water getting into it due to a bad seam (according to other Odyssey owners who are suing Honda for this). We could not get the hatch to open or close, so I paid the dealer to fix it. Honda did give us a check after the fact to cover some of the bill. Now, with less than 51,000 miles, it has happened again. The hatch will not open or close. In the event of an emergency, this is a major safety issue, to be potentially stuck inside the cabin. The hatch started going up and down randomly, and we could not control it. Now, it won't go up or down. This van is is a mess. Not only does it have this issues, but the rear back up camera still does not work, even though it was recalled...they would not honor their recall, and the brakes occasionally come on without cause, when going around a corner and there is oncoming traffic. It thinks that we are headed for a collision, and it's another safety problem here in the northeast. Honda needs to own up to their quality problems relative to these three safety issues.

At first this was intermittent but now on constantly when starting and driving car. Only 55k miles on my Odyssey. Dealer said he had 3 of these in the last three months. Said it was Multi Purpose front camera failure. Cost over $1500. Summary of the Problem: The power tailgate motor on my 2020 Honda Odyssey has failed multiple times, causing the liftgate to stop midway, refuse to open, or abruptly close on its own. This failure creates a safety risk because the tailgate can unexpectedly drop or close on adults or children standing underneath it. Detailed Description: The tailgate motor on my 2020 Honda Odyssey has stopped working correctly on three different occasions. I have taken the vehicle to the Honda dealership repeatedly and have paid hundreds of dollars for repairs, yet the problem keeps returning. The tailgate will randomly stop while opening, won't fully lift, or will close unexpectedly and forcefully. This is especially dangerous when loading children or cargo, as the tailgate can fall without warning. After researching online, I found many other 2020 Odyssey owners reporting the same tailgate motor failure, indicating that this is a widespread issue rather than normal wear. The repeated failure suggests a potential design or safety defect. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this recurring malfunction as a potential safety issue and determine whether a recall or corrective action is necessary.

Dash has warning light showing "Power Tailgate Problem", and power tailgate will not function. The next day there was heavy rain, and the dash had a flickering warning showing the tailgate was open. This also caused the interior lights to flicker on and off as the tailgate open warning was flickering on and off. I returned the van to my home for fear that the tailgate would open automatically while driving down the road. I had the tailgate control module replaced on February 27, 2025 for this same issue, which was due to a tailgate seal leaking water onto the tailgate control module that shorted the module. This is now the second time within less than one year this same module has shorted out. This is a known issue with a class action lawsuit already filed against Honda that should result in a recall. The potential danger of the tailgate opening while driving makes this minivan not usable to transport my kids for fear of their safety.

My wife started hearing a knocking sound while driving, coming from under the hood. I opened the hood while the engine was idling and could tell the sound was coming from inside the engine. Checked the oil level and it was in the operating range and looked clean. I had just changed the oil and filter 08/2025. After that we immediately drove it to the Honda dealer where we purchased the vehicle and the service manager heard the noise, checked for recalls, but could only find the recall for the 2019 Honda Odyssey [XXX] The service manager called in one of his mechanics to listen to the noise in the service manager bay and he said, "Sounds like a bad rod bearing". They then took the vehicle to inspect it further in the mechanic's garage, but as they were pulling it into the bay the engine complete seized up. The vehicle only has 68k miles on it, but now its beyond the warranty period. I was also told by the dealer when I purchased it, that it and the 2019 are identical, so why was the recall issued for the 2019 Odyssey, but not the 2020 model? I'm reading lots of similar reports of this same exact issue with the 2020 model from Honda forums and on youtube posts. Make: Honda Odyssey 2020 Mileage at Failure: ~40,000 miles Incident Description What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The front sensing camera system failed, which controls multiple driver-assistance features, including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Lane Departure Mitigation, and Collision Mitigation Braking System. When the issue occurred, all related dashboard warning lights illuminated simultaneously. The vehicle’s front camera module is still installed and can be made available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? When the camera malfunctioned, all driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems were disabled without warning. This created a serious safety concern because the vehicle unexpectedly lost its lane-keeping, adaptive cruise control, and collision mitigation capabilities while in motion. It increased the risk of a crash, especially during highway driving or when relying on these systems for lane and speed control. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The Honda dealership confirmed the issue after diagnostic testing and stated that the front camera module had failed and must be replaced. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The vehicle has been inspected by the authorized Honda dealership. W
