Our new CRV developed "sticky" steering within months of being new. Periodically, the steering wheel will momentarily catch when making minor steering adjustments, requiring additional force to make the wheel respond. In heavy traffic, especially at highway speeds, this creates a dangerous situation, preventing subtle steering changes and often causing oversteering when exerting the extra force. The issue was diagnosed by the dealership, Honda of Cleveland, TN, in mid November and a new steering rack was ordered. However, the replacement part is currently not available until September '24. The dealership says that the vehicle is safe to drive so no other solution has been offered. The problem continues to worsen, but the vehicle is the only source of transportation for my wife to commute to work and for our entire family to travel on extended trips, so we have no option but to drive it.

While driving on the interstate I started experiencing a sensation that the lane departure/lane assist was attempting to veer me off the road to the left. After turning off all assist features the car continued to steer me off the road. While traveling in particular at higher speeds, on the interstate, it proceeded to get worse. Before traveling for 10 hour drive I took my car in for an oil change and turn off all of the features, November 21, 2023. I described my issue and was informed that it was an issue with the steering rack not the features. My car has been at the dealership since that day. No updates from Honda.

Steering sticks when going over any sort of lane departure. This is dangerous when exiting a tight offramp or coming on a tight onramp. Once the sterring wheel sticks it takes a second or two to unstick causing some near crashes for sure. Not able to get the car to replacte with a local honda dealer went back and took the foreman for a ride and still was not able to replicate it either.

When I drove the vehicle at Highway Speed 60-70 around a curve stretch, the steering appeared to be restricted like as if the road assistance is kicking in but I was not crossing another lane. It is pretty consistent. I sort of disregard it but I started to noticed recently online a lot of similar complaints. So I took it in to the dealer 2/26/24 they ordered a part #53620-3D5-A14. The dealer couldn't give me a timeline when the part will be in and fixed. My daughter normally drives the vehicle and she have said it's been ongoing for a while.

Steering is very sticky; when in curves or making turns it will get stuck and then unstick and cause you to over steer. Per dealer they could not replicate the issue and would not fix the issue even though they are aware there is an issue with the steering.

Symptom was increased resistance to steering; initially an intermittent symptom that presented itself at various sppeeds and while idling at a traffic light. Reported issue Honda dealers on October 3, 2023; October 4, 2023; and November 27, 2023. On Nov. 27, the Honda dealer advised that a new EPS Gearbox/Rack was on backorder. Later queried the WWW and found NHTSA/ODI Investigation EA23003. The symptoms described in the ODI investigation exactly mirrored my symptoms. Providing my experience to provide additional info to NHTSA database. The dealer is holding the car while parts are on backorder. Current ETA is April 4, 2024.

I have experienced sticky steering with this vehicle. I took the vehicle to the dealership in early January to have it checked out. They told me a replacement part was needed however the part in question was on back order. The dealership has placed my part request on an expedited basis but I am being told that means early April. I understand you have an existing investigation into other Honda models for a similar problem so I wanted to add my vehicle to the list of Honda models having an issue

I noticed periodically over the span of a few weeks that when making left hand turns the steering would stick. Making me use slight more force to "unstick" it. I turned off lane assist and all other driving assist programs to help isolate the issue. Being a brand new car I wasn't sure it this was a new normal or not with all the new bells and whistles I have now. A few weeks later it was becoming more consistent. I noticed it gradually getting worse with the slightest left turn of the steering wheel. I made an appointment with the Honda Dealership where I purchased the vehicle from. At this appointment on 2/10/24 the sticking issue was duplicated by the technician and was discovered that I needed an electric power steering rack. I was told these parts were on back order as they have other new vehicles in the shop with the same issue. They could not provide an ETA for my parts. They sent me on my way in my vehicle. I feel my safety, any passengers as well as others on the road around me are at a safety risk. Say the steering rack seizes in the middle of the highway - that I drive daily. Anything is possible with a steering issue. Vehicle has only been inspected by Honda dealership service technicians. Occasionally when starting the car a would get a " Road departure mitigation problem. See Dealership" message. Message only populates when starting the vehicle. This to was said to be resolved by the Honda service technician on 2/10/24 with a electronic update.

I purchased my vehicle new in 2/2023. In December, I began noticing a "tightness" in the steering of my vehicle which began to get worse. On 12/26, I took my vehicle in to have oil changed, etc., and also told them about the steering issue. Upon completion I was told that the steering issue was something that "Honda" was working on and that the part would be ordered and in at the end of February. I was 6th in line so far. I asked if the car was safe to drive and was told yes. "Part Ordered-Rack & Pinion-Warranty-Will Call" was handwritten on my receipt. On 2/5 I called for status and was told that the new delivery date was 4/8 and there were now many people on the list. On 2/8 I called Honda directly and was told that I had to provide them with the part # & part name which I do not have. I tried to explain that I did not believe there WAS a part # and if she looked into it, she would find that this is an issue - no, I had to provide the information. I then asked for a case # for my call. I am beginning to be afraid to drive my vehicle and definitely feel I need to go on record before someone is killed in an accident. I certainly better have two hands on the wheel and be ready to use them at all times. I am making a large car payment and need my vehicle for business. I have two upcoming trips which I guess I am going to have to cancel because I have no vehicle. I cannot afford to rent a vehicle! I researched and found many, many complaints have been made on this same issue. Th

On 1/6/24 I started my 2023 Honda CRV Hybrid Sport (5,500 miles) and every warning light on the dashboard (brakes, tires, check engine) was on. The error messages displayed said "emissions system problem, avoid heavy acceleration & high speed". It repeated this message for the power brakes, power steering, ABS, hybrid system, and all of the ADAS systems. Took to the dealer and they reset the codes and it drove normally. Problem re-occurred on 1/8/24, same symptoms. Dealer stated the wire harness for the radar camera needed to be replaced, it was replaced under warranty. The issue repeated on 1/19/24 however when I began to drive to the dealership, the car completely stalled while I was in heavy traffic on the highway, losing acceleration, power braking and power steering and forced me to coast and pull over. I was able to restart the car and use limp mode to the dealer. They stated the electronic throttle body failed and needed to be replaced. This part is backordered and I am still waiting on a replacement part. Online research shows this happening to others without any resolution from the dealer. I feel like this is a dangerous safety issue due to me losing power in heavy highway traffic and a recall needs to be created.

The steering wheel opposes force when trying to steer it when going at slow, medium or high speed, it's important to mention that this problem exists either the lane keeping assistance is on or off. You have to be a very experienced driver to use this vehicle, otherwise it could be really dangerous. I've read in various forums of other people complaining about the same issue. The vehicle did not advise about any issue.

We have reported a “sticky” or “locking” issue with our car since a month after purchase, when the steering wheel is top dead center it forces itself to the left or right, in slight turning motions during vehicle operation it isn’t free flowing and locks up in either direction for a split second causing constant jerking motions trying to keep the car in the lane. We have took the car in but are now told the part is 4 months out, got told to drive vehicle until then. It is a HUGE safety concern that really does need immediate attention. Our local Honda has replaced one part but claims the part we are waiting on is back ordered.

When I am driving on a straight road, the steering wheel sticks and I have to exert more and more force to turn the steering wheel. As i adjust the steering to stay within the lines, when I attempt to turn the steering wheel ever so slightly, it will not allow me to turn it easily. It requires more force and it will seem like it is turning gears or like little noiseless clicks. The car steering becomes a constant effort of trying to compensate for the steering stickiness. It is like it will not turn the wheel slightly, it's more of a jerky situation.

Vehicle has 10,000 miles on it, steering started feeling strange and gradually got worse to the point we did not feel safe driving it. It was hard to keep the vehicle driving in a straight line and would stick when you tried to turn either direction. A few time we almost hit the vehicle next to us because it would suddenly unstick or break free and the vehicle would lunge in the direction of the turn. We took it to our local Honda service center and they diagnosed it as a defective steering gear assembly (rack & pinion). Part is on backorder and we were told it could be up to four months for a replacement. Vehicle has been at the dealership for two weeks. We were given a loaner but are restricted as to how many miles and where we can drive it, no trips over 100mi.

The steering is sticky, not smooth. This happens around 40 mph and higher. I took the vehicle to the dealership in Wichita within the past week. This was the second time I had the vehicle in to the dealership for this problem. They performed an alignment the first time on Nov. 3, 2023. Last week, they said they found nothing wrong with the steering. This started happening last summer. It didn't bother me a great deal at first but started to get worse. I purchased the CR-V in February 2023. The problem worries me because I feel the steering could fail at higher speeds, and I frequently drive family members in the vehicle. I can make the vehicle available for inspection.

The power steering of the vehicle is malfunctioning while driving on the freeway. The steering feels like it gets “stuck” and doesn’t correct itself. Even if the car goes out of the lane, it maintains its position and doesn’t correct itself. Thus, One has to add force to correct the steering. There is a possible steering rack issue with the 2023 CR-V in which there is a momentary "sticky" or resistant feeling when trying to make steering corrections in order for the vehicle to track in a straight line. This issue seems to be worsening over time, as the sticky feeling is evidently felt at speeds above 30-40 MPH. When driving long distances, it also develops driver fatigue as there is extra steering input required to drive straight. This problem has been reproduced/confirmed by the dealership, and the dealership will be replacing the steering rack to alleviate the issue. No warning lamps or messages appear regarding this problem. This particular vehicle has approximately 10,000 miles.

The steering wheel seems "sticky" as in it feels as though it gets "stuck" in intervals typically after traveling several miles at highway speeds. It requires excess force to adjust and move the steering wheel once it "sticks" and is exceptionally noticeable while driving a straight path and having to adjust the wheel left/right in minor increments to follow the straight path. Occasionally I even overcompensate with force to "unstick" its position and have drifted over the center road line in the process which I instantly thought the first time it happened could prove dangerous if another driver were directly beside me in an adjacent lane. I will be having the vehicle assessed by the dealer in the next couple of days. No warning lamps indicate any problem with steering or steering components. This issue started somewhere around 4-5,000 miles and is progressing with continued vehicle use.

Our 2023 CR-V began having noticeable issues involving the steering around 6000 miles after 9 months of ownership. The steering wheel initially began to develop a tendency to remain centered requiring additional effort to initiate a turn. Once turning it felt normal. Over time the problem became worse, and the wheel began to stick when turning as well. At 6500 miles there is a noticeable resistance to initiating turns, or centering the wheel from a turn. Turns to the right tend to stick more than turns to the left. It is to the point now that in moderate turns you can let go of the steering wheel and it will remain in a turn. A slight knocking noise has also developed. When driving straight down the road it is extremely difficult to keep the vehicle centered in the lane. The effort required increases with speed and narrower lanes. Often the small corrections that would be normal for keeping a vehicle centered in a lane are not possible. The sticking tendency is significant enough now even the smallest corrections meant to stay centered in a lane result in the car darting back and forth. This is independent of the lane keeping system, it happens with the system on and off. With the system on, the lane keeping system appears to struggle as well. At approximately 6500 miles the car went to the dealer, and it as quickly diagnosed as being in need of a new steering rack. The service center said it would be more annoying than unsafe and did not see the need to keep the car. The par

Purchased my car in July new. In August I got a CBMS warning for emergency brake system failure. Took it in and they said the front camera failed and needed to be replaced. It’s been on backorder since August 23. Because of this all the safety features including lane assist had to be turned off because the steering wheel would randomly jerk even when I was within the lane lines. Turned off the safety features and around 10,000 miles the steering wheel started clicking and aggressively jerking to the right or left while driving similarly to how it jerked when the safety features were on, even though they were already turned off from the previous steering wheel issues. Brought it to the dealership and they said the EPS rack failed and the care was unfit to drive. They put me in a rental since two safety issues occurred in the vehicle.
