ABS control module went out, causing all of my dash lights to turn off and on intermittently. On top of that, car isn’t braking properly.
2013 Honda Accord complaints
Owner reports filed with NHTSA about this vehicle, newest first and reproduced as filed. They are unverified accounts: one proves nothing, and a pattern across many is the thing worth reading. Back to the full 2013 record →
Pretty sure it has something to do with the electrical power steering. The car will randomly steer to the left by its self it will do it driving or just running it does it all the time. I have videos and paper record of eveything from multiple sources. It could kill somebody and hurt others in the process. It wouldn’t let me upload the files. If they are needed
Info Entertainment System. It was going on and off I took it to Honda and the price was well over $1,200. I have taken my car for maintenance only to Honda and think that at 120,000 miles after I replaced the starter a month before that this car should be working in full condition. I am a senior and now the radio Bluetooth cameras are no longer available. Called Honda customer service to ask for help I know 2013 was the first year they used this system because I have and XL Accord. when I called the Rep she said honda had a Goodwill program and sure they could help me ,then the second girl called and customer service and said please send me your car dealers mechanic price and Diagnostics. I scan them in and sent it to her Next day the third person in customer service called and said oh I'm sorry you are over the 90,000 warranty. But I told her customer service lady number One never said anything about the Goodwill program being s 90,000 mile warrenty. A bulony story. No help either from the email I sent to a Mr Corbin VP vomplaunts. now I have to drive around and as a senior I would like to have my cameras working anda radio. Bluetooth . I have no working camera and all the maintenance I have done on the car I am really upset I do not have any of it and I cannot go very far for example when a family member got very sick I could not travel in dark to that area because the car is not helpful without that connection.. Yes I can use the GPS on my phone but it is ridiculous that n
Car power steering wheel was not function, I couldn't turn the power steering wheel and the wheel was shaking, luckily it's not happened while I was driving, the problem occurred when I started the car, there was warning lamps on the dash boards, It happened a few time and I was scare to drive the car. Car was towed to dealer and dealer diagnostic code 34-05 power relay stuck off, it costed me $920 to fix, I saw online so many complains with this model year about the same problem, my car only has 80K miles and always service at dealer. I wrote to Honda corporation and open a complain, they want me to sent all the dealer papers and proof of payment, they said I could get help with the payment in 9 weeks, after 8 weeks I follow up with them and they said they didn't get the paper ( I sent through email reply like they told me) So I took my time and re- sent the papers again, took a lot of my time to upload all the paper they required. Finally they said they got it and the manager will contact me, I got a called and the manager said they will have to confirm with the dealer, took another 2 weeks and after that they call me and said Honda corporation will reimburse me only $300, took another TWO weeks to finally get a check from them, totally 3 months from the time I open a case, what a joke! Please have this car recall and make Honda pay for all the fixing cost since this happened to a lots of vehicle on the road.
Drove The Car to Work As Me Return To The Car …. car won’t rollover or starters …. After 2 1/2 week from purchase it from the dealership Eastern Motors… After calling me in a taking away the warranty back … Car stops working 3 days afterwards
The seat belt buckle in the back seat on the right side just easily came right out. If I were to have gotten in an accident whoever was sitting there could have been badly hurt due to the seat belt buckle malfunction. I still have yet to get if fixed because it is such a serious safety issue I’m unsure of who to trust to fix it to where it is as safe as it was supposed to have been
Intermittent warning signal lights on on all three components: ABS, power steering, TPMS. It is being shown on the internet and youtube that the ABS module has faulty soldering inside that connections break easily. We need honda to recall this as this is a known problem if you search around on the internet.
I get a light that comes on my dash board that says “Failed FCW System”.. most of the time it is on. Rarely it will go off the screen. Sometimes my car will randomly beep to signal that something is infront of me when there is nothing infront of me, which is what I believe to be an issue with the FCW system. This is startling and distracting to me while driving, as it is supposed to signal and keep me safe from potentially hitting objects infront of me, but it has proven itself unreliable for what its purpose is. Also with the “Failed FCW System” message on the dash, it has my other lights signaled such as the air pressure light for my tires as well as the oil light so I never know when my tires actually need air, etc…
The ABS Module has failed on my 2013 Honda Accord LX. The ABS system may not function properly in reducing braking distances and could cause the car to slide in wet or slippery conditions increasing the chances of a collision or loss of vehicular control while driving. The car was taken to a Honda Specialist and upon inspection, the vehicle was diagnosed to have a faulty ABS module. The quoted repair was in excess of $2000 USD. The ABS, Power Steering, TPMS Check Tire, Traction Control warning lights are all ON indicating an issue with aforementioned faulty ABS Module. The warning lights all appeared simultaneously in February, 2023. Diagnostics were run and all error codes indicated a faulty ABS (VCS) module
My vehicle was inspected at a Honda Dealership in the state of CO & it all appears the VSA Modulator unit have an internal failure & it’s not functioning properly. Due to this effective issue the traction control would not be able to operate appropriately & it can cause an accident & endanger my life in traffic & other people’s life. Unfortunately, the VSA Modulator unit is “Nationally” out of stock & unable to find the VSA Modulator unit.
The steering wheel stopped turning smoothly and would occasional turn toward the right erratically. The car is available for inspection upon request. Since now the steering wheel will occasional move on it's own or become more difficult to turn, the car is now more difficult to drive and thereby more of a safety risk. The steering problem was confirmed by a local mechanic. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representative regarding this issue. There has been no warning lamps or messages on the dashboard in regards to this steering issue.
In December 2022, I took my 2013 Honda Accord sedan 2.4L EX 4-door to the same Honda dealership where I purchased the vehicle new in December 2012. The car had 81.5k miles on it then, and the issue was with steering and having to always hold the wheel tightly with pressure to the right as it consistently wanted to pull left. After confirming this was not an alignment issue, the Honda dealer put it up on the rack and confirmed the wheel turned quickly all the way to the left, even when idling (I have video of this). There were no stored trouble codes so they performed a torque sensor clear and steering torque learn, which seemed to fix the issue. Note there is a warranty extension (from 5 to 13 years) by Honda for the EPS Torque Sensor (DTC 53-01 or DTC 53-03), for all 2013-14 Accords; however my vehicle did not show either of those diagnostic codes. Now in November 2023 (83.4k miles), the steering has failed again, pulling left but also suddenly becoming tight while steering and then suddenly going slack; at times if I let go of the wheel (safely), the wheel rotates quickly all the way left exactly as it did when up on the rack under a year ago. Took it back to the same Honda dealership service department and, after being asked if I knew I was supposed to drive with two hands on the wheel, left the car with them to check out. The same issue occurred for them. They said they hadn’t seen this issue before and didn’t know if it was an issue with the rack or the control module (w
Vsa module failure. Anti lock brakes will not work unless repaired. Honda dealer quoted repair over 2500.00 dollars. Know issue of poor quality design and use of inferior parts to make module failure imminent.
The car accelerates when I’m trying to brake.
Electronic power steering failure. Pulls dangerously to the left after failure. Very hard to steer, no EPS warning light or indication of any problems prior to failure.
The ABS Module seems to fail on all 2013 Honda Accords and many other year models as well. This causes the antilock break system to not work properly, potentially causing a very serious accident. The quoted replacement from a Honda dealer is over $2k which is very cost prohibitive for many people. I'm sure you have received many complaints on this and if you don't believe the severity of this please look on any online car repair forum and you can see the countless drivers with this issue. Honda needs to pay for this not stick unsuspecting customers with a very expensive repair.
Honda Service has reported I need a VSA Modulator Assembly replaced and they want me to order this part now which is on backorder for at least 2-3 months. Car had 87,000 miles at time of inspection. I have tried to source this assembly from various Honda dealers and parts distributors to no avail. Cost will be $2,800 to replace. There are many other Honda owners experiencing this same problem but Honda will not cover the costs and seem to have no way to expedite the parts. They have started a VSA recall in newer Honda models on a limited basis. The VSA modulator is a safety feature on the car and I notice a difference in the stability and braking of the car. I am sure if I have an accident, the fact that the lights are on the dashboard will negate my insurance coverage if it can be related specifically to the VSA modulator. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE Why are so many owners affected by this and yet Honda is getting away with it. This Honda is no where near the quality of my first Honda Accord in 1999.
While driving down the road my power steering went out without warning and then light came on, I turned the car off/on several different times and the power steering is still out. I was able to make it home without incident but that was not a safe feeling.
Daughter driving in speed lane in Indiana at speeds over 70mph- steering locked up completely as she was surrounded by semis. Thank God she responded and handled the situation - she could have been killed. Now car is in repair on what is KNOWN to be common failure, but NO recall. She is 6 hours away from vehicle now at college. Part will take 8 weeks. Honda doing nothing to provide her with a vehicle. I am sick HONDA has not issued this as a recall. She could have died. This is very common problem.
While driving on a straight roadway the electric power steering indicator light came on and the steering became very difficult. I was able to steer with effort to the side of the road and park. This incident just happened an hour ago and has not yet been checked by a service center. My husband met me, started the car and drove home without further incident.
The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH, the steering wheel was firm. Additionally, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to stop the vehicle in a reasonable amount of time. The contact also stated that the transmission was shifting rough while driving. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the part to repair the vehicle was not available. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000. The VIN was unavailable.
I purchased this car from Trickett Honda in June 2013. The mileage on 9/11/23 was 23,602 (the day of the rear wheel hub bearing repair). This car was used primarily by my wife and driven mostly in town for short trips (14 to 25 miles round trip to and from home), seldom trips to Nashville and back. My wife started complaining about what she called “road noise” 4 or 5 years ago. I occasionally drove the car and it was loud, but I thought it might just be tires, but the tires looked OK. I do remember being on the interstate hwy at 75 and noticed a high noise level. My wife recently had to drive her brother to Nashville for doctor appointments and he told her he thought the noise was from a bad wheel bearing. So, I started searching on Google for 2013 Honda Accord noise problems and found many references. One was a Honda Engineering Request for Investigation (copy attached). In order to qualify the VIN must start with 1HG (my vin). It said to call Technical Research & Support at 800-880-1072 and I did. TRS told me to contact Music City Honda and I gave them the info (case number etc.) and they told me they knew nothing about Honda requesting that they look at the car. The guy I talked with said they would charge $150 just to get in the car and drive it. So, I called Gallatin Honda, got transferred to the service dept., told to leave a message and they never called back. So, I called Murfreesboro Honda and the service guy said it would cost $450 labor plus parts to fix one rear w
ABS solenoid valve malfunction. VSA solenoid malfunction
Abs modulator failed, cannot pass inspection. dashboard lights are all on. this is a safety issue
The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the ABS module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the parts were on backorder. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
My EPS light came on and could not steer the car. It would not turn either left or right. I had car towed to garage who told me power steering rack. I called Honda Dealership who told me I had o have it towed to them. I had towed to them and they told me EPS control unit. The only warning was the eps light. Why is my car not part of 15-550 or 15-056. There has been numerous issues with this year make and model when will it be resolved now that I’m having to pay $1300 and over $300 for towing
VSA Modulator is faulty causing the ABS system to fail. Honda dealerships are telling customers it is safe to drive
My vehicle currently has the TPMS, VSA(Stabilty/ABS),Electric Power Steering, Lane Departure Warning, and Forward Collision Warning lights are on. I brought my vehicle to a local Tire Discounters. They scanned for the codes and it brought up the VSA Modulator (aka ABS Module) malfunction. I researched through forums and it is a common issue with Honda ABS module. The VSA/ABS module has to be replaced due to electrical issues within the module. This could lead to a crash/injury.
When I bought the car about one month ago, the car would pull slightly to the left and get worse when I would go to stop. A week and a half ago it got a lot worse and now if you take any pressure off the steering wheel it will turn completely to the left. Also, turning to the right is extremely difficult. The car is not safe to drive in this state. Mechanics have said that it is the torque sensor in the steering rack that has gone bad.
Vehicle steering wheel will turn left or right. If there isn't correcting the steering wheel vehicle will not drive straight.
The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the vehicle started jerking upon depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine, the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), the electric power steering, TPMS, Forward Collision Avoidance, and the Lane Departure warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 162,000.
The electronic power steering sensor has malfunctioned. If you are driving the car forward, out of nowhere and without warning the steering wheel will pull violently to the left into incoming traffic.
The ABS modulator failed causing all ABS, brake, seat belt and steering lights to go on.
Antilock brake system module failure/solenoid causing multiple engine light failure and transmission
I got off work and went to car and open the door and it was smoke everywhere the electricity problem occurred between the radio dash and the middle car components everything is burned and melted through in the middle and I have sent in pictures to the car max claims to investigate.
My family and I were driving home then out of nowhere the steering wheel turned all the way left and after a while it went in random directions. If my hand was off the wheel anytime while driving the car would’ve crashed into the side rail or another driver. There were no warning signs that this would happen and there are no dash lights indicating a problem.
I was backing my car out of my driveway. I put my car in drive and my driver side drive shaft snapped in half.
ABS Modulator Failed
The ABS Module Failure All of the dashboard light are on due the a Faulty ABS Module, YouTube and other Honda forums reported the same problems. The ABS Module is poorly designed The connectors are very thin and they break apart with the vehicle vibration, the Abs dashboard light, Steering control dashboard light, Traction control dashboard light,TPMS dashboard light all are in the ABS Module control unit. Honda need to Issue a Recall for the abs Module failing after 35k miles of its vehicles its a safety issue and it should be dressed. Thank You
1.I was driving back from Work on 7/17/2023 when I Noticed the Steering Wheel suddenly felt too loose - Steering had excessive Free play. With utmost caution drove the car back to Garage. 2.Took it to the Honda Dealer on 7/18/2023 for inspection. 3.The Honda Service Diagnosis was Power Steering Rack Assembly failure and the recommendation was to Replace the Power Steering Rack Assembly. 4.The Honda Service has recommended not to Drive the car with Unsafe Steering Unit and it has been Garaged since then.
WHEN DRIVING THE STEERING MAKES VEHICLE LEAN TO THE RIGHT. AND WHEN PARKED, IT LEANS ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT, LOCKS UP AND THE STEERING CAUTION LIGHT COMES ON.
During normal driving, power steering would become more or less sensitive. This was especially noticeable during turns, where the steering wheel would suddenly jerk hard into the turn, sometimes requiring both hands on the wheel to counteract the excessive turn rate.
Driving vehicle and dashboard lit up like Christmas. Lights included FCW, ABS, Lane Departure, etc. Shut vehicle down and lights turned off upon starting the car, but quickly came back on and now they are on for good. I took it to the Gary Smith Honda in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. They ran a diagnostic check and reported code 66-11, pressure sensor circuit malfunction, VSA modulator is faulty. Dealership quoted $2,600 to fix issue. Dealer advised vehicle is not safe to drive as brakes could lock up and traction control is faulty. I looked on YouTube and found this to be a wide-spreed issue with more than 10k views on each video where mechanics were discussing the issue and providing repair tips. I’m encouraging everyone in the comments to file a complaint with NHTSA as several are already on file and it appears the Honda Pilot already has a recall for this exact issue.
The ABS Module has failed. I am receiving warning lights on my dash which caused me to pull off the road. After online research, I discovered this is a common problem with this make/model. So much so, that there is a national backorder for this part. My mechanic says that I can drive the car and the ABS system will not work in the event that I might need it. Online forums tell me that the system might activate and cause the brakes to lock up. This seems very unsafe to me and a widespread problem that Honda should address.
My dashboard is lit up like a christmas tree. Went to dealer who found the ABS control module went out. The nation is out of this part as it is a common problem. There are several articles on the web that discuss how these have gone out and there is no where to buy the part and is not recalled yet. ABS system will not engage without this which is extremely unsafe. Apparently this is effecting 2013-2107 accords.
All the lights came on, on the dash board. Further research I found out the ABS module went out. Could hear noise when braking, abs brakes not catching. No one has one since so many other honda accords are having the same issue. Found one at a dealership for $2000 but can't afford that part plus labor. It's been over a month and still looking.
ABS, BRAKE, TCS and PSC lights illuminated indicative of VSC Modulator failure at 122,000 miles. Dealer stated part needs replacement. Too many issues on this issue to not be addressed by Honda.
Power steering failed with no indication that the car needed service. Thankfully I was close to home and able to return safely.
The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while the vehicle was idling, the Lane Departure, Forward Collision Avoidance, traction control, and power steering warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was informed that the ABS modulator was defective and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the warning lights remained illuminated and over time, the power steering assist failed to operate as needed. The contact stated that excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle due to the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
All dash lights come on. Fcw system failure. Abs/vsa module failed is what me and a lot of other people with the same car, have the same issues. Abs brake module to replace is $1100 and on backorder and alot of people can't drive there cars, some have had issues that almost caused accidents, mine seems to run fine for now, just started happening. Honda needs to do something about this, way to many people have this problem and Honda should be way more reliable and helpful for this common failure.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
