MOTORCYCLE ACCELERATED TO FULL THROTTLE AT A STOP CAUSING ME TO HAVE A SEVERE ACCIDENT. I WAS "WALKING THE CLUTCH". LIGHT HAD TURNED GREEN BEFORE I CAME TO A STOP. I HAD 1.5 CAR LENGTHS BETWEEN MYSELF AND THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE BIKE TOOK OFF, FIRST REACTION WAS TO SWERVE TO THE RIGHT TO NOT HIT THE CAR IN FRONT. I KEPT HOLDING THE BREAK BUT THE THROTTLE WOULD NOT STOP. WHEN I WAS ON THE GROUND THE BIKE WAS STILL IN FULL THROTTLE EVEN WITHOUT ANYTHING OBSTRUCTING THE THROTTLE. I ALMOST DIED, BROKE SEVERAL BONES, MY HIP, KNEE, TIBIA. RECENTLY I CAME ACROSS SOMEONE WHO EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM MULTIPLE TIMES. HE SAID HARLEY DAVIDSON JUST GAVE HIM A DIFFERENT BIKE SINCE THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. HE TOLD ME ALL THIS BEFORE I TOLD HIM WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. I KNOW THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE IN THOSE MOTORCYCLES CAUSING THEM TO ACCELERATE SPONTANEOUSLY.

Reading this record
No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.
Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
Most recent recall on file: none. Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation.
