2024 GMC Canyon complaints

Been experiencing an intermittent issue. After completing an indicated right hand turn, the vehicle will signal a left turn for 3 blinks. This is a safety issue because the vehicle is signaling a left turn when no turn is intended.

Headlights flicker

Headlights flicker independently randomly. Does not matter what position headlights are in (auto, on, highbeam). GM looked and confirmed issue but said to not replace any modules or other parts until they can redesign the headlights. Happening on all 2024 GMC Canyons. Issue during daytime driving could lead to road rage. Issue at night is worse obviously because it is very distracting to oncoming and other drivers. Police could think you are trying to warn other drivers of their presence which would lead to a citation but mostly the distraction and irritation to other drivers is going to lead to an accident or worse. GMC needs to recall these Canyons and get a fix immediately.

Headlights flicker every minute or so. Sometimes every few seconds. Makes it appear that I’m flashing oncoming traffic or those I’m following. Appears GM has known about it for months but no fix yet. PIT6203A

The vehicle headlights flicker off and on intermittently, sometimes within a few seconds of each occurrence, other times several minutes between flickering off and on. The flickering is distracting to the driver of the vehicle and to other drivers as well as oncoming drivers flash lights back. The dealership has been notified and they are aware of other complaints on 2024 GMC Canyon vehicles. This is a known issue among other owners and apparently GM as the issue has been voiced on social media sites related to the Canyon and on Canyon related group forums.

Headlights keep flickering/turning off and then back on

Headlights blink intermittently when driving. The issue occurs every 2 min or so. The blinking may be construed by other road users as an indication to move over or other unintended confusion. Issue has been documented in a video.

My 2024 GMC Canyon AT4X picked up on Saturday 8/10/24. First time driving it at night I kept noticing a flickering of the headlights. I confirmed after reading multiple complaints online about the headlight blinking on many GMC forums. I have a video of it and have shown it to the dealership service department. They are ordering a lighting control module for the headlamp assembly. Very concerning that a headlight malfunction with less that 20 miles on the vehicle. And very noticeable at night almost looking like you are flashing your headlight at drivers in front of you.

When driving at night or anytime for that matter, and the low beams are engaged, the whole light housing will momentarily shut off and turn back on. This can cause safety issues, especially since it looks like you are flashing people. It happens randomly and affects both the driver side headlight and passenger side headlight. It will only stop if you turn the entire headlight housing off, or only have the daytime running lights on. I am unable to attach videos. This issue seems to affect 2024 GMC Canyons manufactured after April 2024.

Both headlights intermittently flicker on and off during operation. This is distracting for the driver while driving at night, and also distracts other drivers both ahead and oncoming. Dealer has reviewed the issue and is awaiting direction from the manufacturer for best way to resolve. No warning lamps or fault codes occured. The issue began within 30 minutes of purchase leaving dealership.

Headlights flicker every five seconds at night. Could be a hazard to oncoming traffic.

Head lights flicker on and off both sides in a rapid succession. Lasts 2 seconds maximum then works for a few minutes before flickering again. This has happened since 50km of owning the car.

I was driving at night and noticed both headlights would flicker off and then back on. Oncoming drivers on the highway were flashing their highbeams at me because they thought I was flashing my lights at them. My girlfriend was driving her new motorcycle home in front of me and had to pull over to ask why I kept flashing my lights at her. It was a very hazardous situation. The dealership ordered two new headlights for my vehicle and took several weeks to repair it.

The led headlights flicker randomly while driving. This is very distracting to me and the vehicles in front of me. I just purchased the truck Friday (8/9) and noticed it on my way home from the dealership.

Since the PIT6203 was created (with the recommended action of replacing headlamp assemblies), GMC is now advising to NOT replace them, but offers no further solution. I've received no official word from GMC or the dealership on that, but while they explore a solution, I'm driving a brand new vehicle with a potentially dangerous manufacturing / build flaw. Please consider escalating this issue to a formal recall due to dangers outlined above.

Headlights and DRLs flicker at night when in on position. GMC with no fix and no timeline as to when. Safety issue driving at night. First started at 49 miles on odometer. Now at 1800 miles and still ongoing.

Headlights consistently flicker. I have had other drivers stop me and warn me. Happens every 1-2 minutes on both sides. GM dragging their feet with a repair. I am hearing multiple customers with the same issue. Please put pressure on GM to correct this issue now!

Headlights have a frequent flickering issue. They are constantly flickering on and off. Truck only has 600 miles on it.

Both headlights blink randomly. Causes unsafe driving conditions at night as well as possibility for road rage interaction at any time.

My headlights flicker or blink without warning and I feel that they could fail while on the highway. I purchased my truck on the 1st of August 2024. Gm had issued a service letter for the problem on the 30th of July 2024 but they still sold me truck without mentioning the defect.

About every five to six minutes my headlamps will flicker. Googled online and found a forum for Colorado and Canyon owners who are experiencing the same thing. Some people on there have said GM is aware of the problem.

Headlight flickering causing vehicles infront of my truck to slow down or break. Been to dealership multiple times for headlight problem. Recent headlight assembly replacement. Headlight flickering still present in truck after headlight assembly replacement. Blind spot indicators intermittently work, on highway, had couple times I relied on indicators that did not illuminate. Dealer could not find issue but same day I picked up truck from service, blind spots weren’t picking up some vehicles either passing or getting passed. Steering wheel noise when turning. Dealer took part steering column, but could not find a problem. Was told it was just sound from motor in steering column. Test drive exact model truck and year, no noise from that truck while turning steering wheel

Approximately every minute while driving with the headlights on, they will turn off/flicker for a split-second. This makes it seem like I’m flashing my lights at other vehicles, and also makes the lights turn off while driving for a split second which is distracting. This has happened since the vehicle was purchased new and it happens any time the headlights are turned on.

Headlights are flickering intermittently, causing oncoming drivers to think they are being bright lighted. Which causes them to bright light me. Also, headlight flickering causes trailed vehicle drivers to think I am signaling them to stop. Both situations are hazardous, in my opinion.

The contact owns a 2024 GMC Canyon. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to slow the vehicle while in traffic, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to slow as quickly as needed. The contact stated that the brake pedal required increased effort to slow the vehicle. The ABS and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed failures with the brake master cylinder and ABS control module. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 250.

Headlights blink or flicker off and on. Both will do it but not at same time. Seems to be only low beams and happens driving or parked. Have been to dealer and they saw it happening. GM is aware and have a bulletin #PIT6203 Headlamp or DRL Flicker or Flash (July 16, 2024) and #PIT6203A ( July 30, 2024 ) Concerns are other drivers or pedestrians think I'm flashing my lights at them signaling to pull out or walk in front of me. I'm afraid one of these times they will not turn back on.

LED headlamps on both sides of vehicle routinely "flicker" / "blink". The effect is such that oncoming traffic assumes you are "flashing" them or "high beaming" them. Have had several encounters with motorists honking at me or yelling as I pass by. I was also break checked by a vehicle in front of me on the highway when driving at night. These incidents have made driving at night very stressful..... and potentially dangerous. Dealership has been notified and initially stated that they would replace headlamps and ordered those items. I day before my appointment , they cancelled and said that GM was no longer replacing headlamps and was "working on a fix" PIT # 6203A. No time table has been given. This issue is apparently widespread on 2024 Canyons built between March and June of 2024.

Headlamps flicker intermittently, every 2-5 mins. Common problem and well documented/discussed on owner forums. There was a tsb issued by gm, bit it was rescinded shortly thereafter. Headlights began flickering two days after purchase of vehicle. Infotainment screen that operates the headlights, as there is no physical headlight knobs or buttons, also malfunction and is inoperable. So I can not turn my headlights on or off, they're set to auto and I can not adjust it. Service department at my dealership has been able to replicate my issues and are trying to fix them, but parts availability is an issue. GM has informed me that the parts are delayed with no eta of when they would be available. Issues with the headlights flickering could lead other drivers to think I'm flashing my lights at them as I'm telling them to go ahead and that could cause a wreck. Also with the flickering there is a chance that the lights could completely cut off or go out and if I'm driving at night that would be a very big issue. Especially since the Infotainment screen that I need to operate the headlight functions is also inoperable. The Infotainment screen is also on national backorder per GM. Headlights Flicker / GMC knows there is an issue with this / I will be making an appointment with dealership to get it fixed based on document attached

The headlights on the vehicle will flicker/ short out. This creates a high risk when operating the vehicle at night. Vehicle was brought into the dealer for service on 08/05/2024, was told there is no current solution for this problem at this time. No warning light on the dash.

Since buying this truck new in July of 2024 the Headlights when on, will every few minutes both left and right headlights along with DRLs flicker/blink off and back on again. headlights will flicker or blink Randomly as you drive or when parked the headlights will turn off for a second then come back on. oncoming drivers are being flashed from flicker thinking they are being signaled by flicker. pedestrians or cyclists think the flash or flicker is signaling them to proceed and that the truck will yield when maybe their not even seen. other drivers think their being flashed from behind with the headlights which could lead to road rage incidents. possible the headlights will stay off when they flicker, rendering the driver unable to see during night driving. this is a very Dangerous malfunction of a very important safety component of the truck.

The headlights flicker. It doesn’t matter whether auto dim feature is on or off. It happens approximately every 5 minutes or so. This is a dangerous situation. It flashes at vehicles as well as pedestrians. This could cause I’m signaling to go in front of me.

Occurs in a controlled lighting environment meaning it is not due to the auto-headlamp sensor being triggered by light or darkness changes. There are no error or fault warning messages that display on the dash or control center. No human involvement triggers the flickering. The issue occurs even when remote start is used and the vehicle is unoccupied. I have located dozens of other owners with the same issue with a similar build date from Spring 2024 through June 2024. Hazards include the possible signs of headlight catastrophic failure rendering the driver unable to see the road and surrounding vehicles as well as other drivers being unable to see you that could result in injury or death. Vehicles that are being trailed when the flickering occurs interpret the action as being indicated to rush and make way for the approaching vehicle resulting in road rage actions such as brake checking or other forms of violence that can result in injury or death. Pedestrians may interpret the flicker as the driver yielding to them resulting in the pedestrian entering the path of a moving vehicle resulting in injury or death. The headlights are malfunctioning where they periodically flicker and there is a loss of lighting. The frequency seems to increase the longer the headlights are on and in use. The loss of lighting during the event increases risks of driving at night and impairing oncoming traffic. Yes, the problem has been confirmed and documented by my dealer, Ideal Buick GMC in Frederick MD Yes, Dealer inspected the problem, replaced parts but the problem still exists. No other indications of failure. Symptoms appeared immediately after taking delivery of vehicle.

The valve body on GM's 8 speed transmission is a known fail point for many GM truck owners. I believe the NHTSA should investigate this for the extreme risk of an accident. My truck has been inoperable for a month awaiting a back ordered part. When driven, the truck displays erratic behavior and will downshift and decelerate rapidly and without warning. The risk of being rear-ended is very high.
