Power steering system fails intermittently. Power steering goes and comes back on without warning, causing the driver to oversteer the vehicle. Mechanic performed software update, which did not fix the problem and told me the power steering module needs to be replaced, which would be over $1,000 for the part, plus labor and re-alignment. Additionally, the replacement power steering module is not currently available - it is on backorder.

The vehicle stalls when air start kicks on so when stopped auto stop kick on and when your ready to go the go stalls to turn back on. I have also lost power to the car randomly. Power train issue on car keeps coming on with engine light. I have taken to dealer when car was under warranty and they were very dismissive to my issue. They changed some sensor under warranty And they said the issue was fixed. But the issue remains and it’s causing several issues to the car with Also a fueling code to the engine light

When it rains(or car wash) my power locks don't work. I get locked out of my car. My car reset itself in the middle of an intersection(like I turned it off and back on again). One of my gauges is always not working. The sunroof doesn't work right. Water is getting in the electrical area somehow. I've taken it to two chevrolet dealerships, but no help.
Transmission Control Value issues. I was driving my car and RPM spiked up high and I coasted and there was no acceleration the rear wheel tires locked up and I felt a jerk. Placed the vehicle in park and pulled hand gear shifter into Drive and the vehicle shifted back into park by itself. Same thing happened on placing the vehicle in reverse. Like the car had a mindset of its own. Luckily I was only going 20 miles per hour this could have been a fatality. This vehicle is not on the recall list. It should be because they use all the same parts.
While trying to reinstall the evenflo car seat, the latch to lock the car seat into place failed. The metal on the car seat is broken. The car seat has been used in the vehicle for less than a year, and if I had not noticed this upon trying to move the car seat it could have caused a serious injury should my child have been involved in an accident.
The contact owns a 2020 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while stopped at a traffic light and depressing the accelerator pedal after the light had changed, the vehicle hesitated and then lurched forward. The contact stated that an unknown warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was vibrating abnormally. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed and it was determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact researched online but found no recall related to the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
The electrical, engine, and A/C systems failed. First our A/C stopped blowing cold. A warning light came up and said that driver assist was not working properly, and temperature gauge went all the way down to cold and did not move after that. It appears 3 things were malfunctioning. I was afraid to drive it for fear of burning up the engine due to an engine cooling malfunction and the car overheating. The A/C stopped blowing cold air but was still blowing warm air. The steering system alert was on the dash but wasn't an issue. I called OnStar to diagnose the problem and they initially said they didn't see a problem but based on what I described it would be best to have it towed. I later got an email that an issue was detected, code P0128. I called my dealership and they also said to have it towed so they could check it. We were not in a position to have the car towed and for it to sit in the service department for 5 days (that was what their queue backup was like then). I took the car to a nearby shop to have it checked. Because I was afraid to drive it we I got it there by disconnecting the battery. A/C was blowing cold like Arctic air and the temperature gauge went back to normal. We got it to the shop (a few miles away) and they could not duplicate the issue due to the battery disconnection "fix". They said the car would be temporarily functioning per usual but the problem will come back again soon and to bring it back when it happens. It happened 2 weeks later (2 hours fr
Once again (for the second time in a few months) the vehicle put me and my passenger in an extremely dangerous situation. We were driving down a 55mph country highway catching speed, somewhere around 45-50 mph and the car jerked so violently that it shook us even though we had our seat belts on. It then made a weird noise and felt like it was powering down so I stepped on the accelerator to try to bring it back up to speed and it sped up a little bit, jerked again (not as violently) and turned off. Luckily, since it was a country hwy and no cars were coming, I was able to coast into a driveway. I attempted to restart the car to turn around and go home but as soon as i put it in gear, it would shut off. I tried a few times and it would make a "tick tick, tick" sound but not start. I waited a few minutes and tried again and was able to get it to start, go in reverse and get back home. Once I got home it would not start again. Mechanic says it is the same issue and before, which was also part of a recall for this vehicle having to do with the fuel pump relay. I will be trying to tow this vehicle to the dealership for repair.
Transmission gave out
Rear-View Camera Failure: The rear view camera functions intermittently. While in Reverse, the screen goes black, with a red triangle and a circle with a line through it. This SAFETY ISSUE increases risk of incidents resulting in injury and/or property damage while the vehicle is in reverse. I understand there already exists a NHTSA RECALL (NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V709000) however, it states that only vehicles equipped with the optional Surround Vision feature are affected. My vehicle does not have the 360 Surround Vision (RPO UV2). but is experiencing the same SAFETY ISSUE!
The car would not start. It would power on but would not turn over. We had it checked out by a mechanic who tested it and found that the fuel pump module was not operable. When he went to replace it, he found that the one he was removing was aftermarket so this issue had happened before, apparently, before we bought it. We bought it with only 24k miles so it needing to be replaced that early is concerning. And now at around 50k it had to be replaced again. Researching this issue, I have found many folks reporting similar situations. This needs to be investigated.
I bought my car [XXX] it had 7 miles. I loved my car. Then in January 2021 things just went crazy. It started with park light on. My forward brake assist warning didn’t work, my back up camera in and out . My braking and stability were on and off. Then weird codes like. Engine at half power, unable to shift soon and speed control out. Then if I hit a bump message went away and speed control back on. I’ve taken care into another GMC dealer because dealer I bought my car at , closed up and took off!! Took it to closet dealer. Not long after repairs same issues started! So many different problems all at once! I have been treated horribly during these issues by dealership and extended warranty company. Dealer had my car for 3 weeks ! They couldn’t figure out the problem. I sat there for 4 hrs sent me home told to come back for 9 mile test! Why in 4 hrs that wasn’t done. So again the unable to shift message back on! I get in my car it starts but won’t shift ! Dealer charged me 250 to tow to shop! When they said I’d be fine ! I had more issues again and again! I’ve been driving over 40 yrs no accidents. I bumped into someone during a huge traffic jam in Ohio! Braking didn’t work no warning even . I should speak to a lawyer and could explain more to a person on filing these complaints. The contact owns a 2020 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while driving from a complete stop and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated to respond. The contact stated that the failure also occurred while driving at various speeds. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle experienced unintended downshifts while driving. The contact stated that the engine revved significantly without the accelerator pedal being depressed. The messages "Unable to Shift Gears" and "Service Vehicle” were displayed. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring while driving. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V668000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Backup camera continues to intermittently fail even after recall remedy was performed. When placing the car in reverse, the backup screen goes black with a warning symbol on the screen that the camera is not working. This has happened intermittently for the last couple years. I've taken it to a GMC service center 5 times for this issue (3 of these visits were after the recall remedy was performed). The service has fixed the issue but it only lasts for a short time before reoccurring.
The contact owns a 2020 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that the front driver's side and front passenger’s side seat belt locking mechanism failed to remain latched. The contact stated that while driving, the seat belts would erroneously become unlatched. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the seat belts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 35,000.
The car has parking brake on unable to disable.Have to put in drive force the system to move. Same with reversing the car. Air bags not working. Seat belt restraint on when we are wearing them. Left turn signal failure. Steering limited caution sign on. ESC sign on. Engine light on. Transmission unable to shift soon light on. Traction lights on. ABS brake light on. Temp says -40 degree when 30 out. I’m finding this unsafe to drive. Call GMC that told me to start On Star diagnostic. Pull up at least 4 codes And today the transmission indicators came on. Not sure what to do. The car has low miles. But I have stopped driving as of today due to break down or serious malfunction while driving.
Code P0128. While driving the vehicle gives a "steering assist reduced drive with care" the engine coolant temperature gage goes to 0 and the cooling fan runs until you turn off the car, and the a/c stops working. After replacing the engine coolant temperature sensor and harness the vehicle still does it. There are hundreds of reports of this happening online in forums. This is a safety issue when the vehicle is being driven.
Front and rear camera not working blind spot indicator not working side mirrors warning of oncoming vehicles not working radio not working
The contact owns a 2020 GMC Acadia. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V709000 (Back Over Prevention) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact had not experienced a failure. The VIN was not available.
My steering assist is reduced drive with care message is on. The AC is no longer working and the fan is constantly running and sounds horrible. The temperature gauge has not come off of cold. After researching this issue online-it looks like this is a constant problem with Acadias from 2017-current. People are talking about the cost being between $1100-2400 to fix. There is a service bulletin out about this issue(17-NA-158) May 2017 If GMC knows that this is a problem why are they not recalling them?? My car was purchased brand new and of course is out of warranty like most others(the extended warranty doesn’t cover it either) GMC needs to recall these vehicles and fix this issue!!!!!
Service indicator on the driver information center stating to service vehicle detection AKA blind spot alert the system has failed once already was taken in for repair to GM was repaired and it has now failed again and is going in for service on April 4th 2023
The contact owns a 2020 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was shuddering. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the torque converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, and while driving at various speeds, a buzzing noise was heard coming from the engine compartment. The contact also stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled with the anti-theft system warning light was illuminated and the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was able to be restarted; however, the contact stated that unknown alarm chimes were heard. Additionally, the liftgate opened independently and various other unknown warning lights illuminated, and messages were displayed. The contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power and failed to restart. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer however, the cause of the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The contact was made aware that the warranty had expired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000.
While driving the vehicle goes into Automatic Braking. It has stopped me while I'm driving or it will make a loud scrubbing noise as if I've hit the brakes quickly. It has happened over 15 or more times. I've taken to dealership and they are not very responsive to check into the issue I am having. It is a danger to me if I am on the Interstate with vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed.
15000 miles and already having transmission/torque converter shutter. In the shop now. Shutters in all gears and also while in cruise control at 70-75 + mph Dangerous when car won't shift.Dealer has confirmed this issue and has performed a flush. Problem still there and very noticeable. On star has reported these warnings and dealer confirmed codes.
Rearview camera is intermittently non-functional when placed in reverse gear, and shows a red triangle and red camera icon on the screen along with a circle and slash through it. See attached photo.
GMC safety recall was issued in Sept. 2022. (N222378380) My backup camera (2020 GMC Acadia) has been going in and mostly out since Jan. 2021. GMC has yet to find a fix for this issue, about 4 months since the recall but almost a year and a half for my car. I have had it in for service 3-4 times and thy can't fix it. It is a safety issue as we depend heavily on the camera to back up and the front camera to avoid hitting objects. We have had a few close calls but no damage, YET. I have had numerous conversations with GMC and my dealer. I keep getting the same answers. They can't (parts, no know fix, whatever) and won't do anything to fix the problem. I have been without this highly priced option for almost 2 years. Someone needs to get their act together. this is too long of a time to have this problem still exist..
Rear view camera stopped working as I was backing up and ran into a pole damaged my right rear wheel well and panel.
SIDE BLIND ZONE SYSTEM TEMPORARIALLY UNAVAILABLE message displayed in DIC, and system does not function. I can not rely on the system as it very often does this. This issue started on 12/08/2022. I feel that I am at risk of a crash as I rely on this system for blind spot detection. There are MANY forums that state that MANY other 2020 GMC Acadia's have this issue. I feel like this is a GM issue, and the consumer should not be left with the cost of any repair, if necessary. This is a safety risk and could result in death from a crash due to a failure of a safety system.
I started receiving an error message that driver assist is reduced drive with car at 50k miles (i have an onstar diagnostic report and phone call made that day). It shut my car down and activated the parking break. I called Onstar at that moment it happened and they found nothing wrong with the car. It continued to happened several times after and each time I took it to the dealer they were unable to diagnose the problem. One time I was told there was a bulletin on it from GM, but not for the year of my car so they were not able to make the repair. When it finally started giving me the error all the time, they finally found it was the thermostat - $1600 and GM would not cover the part under warranty because I now had over the warranty miles even though it happened and was reported prior to that point. I have several people tell me with the same vehicle they too are having the problem - and it is costing each consumer $1600. GM knows it is a problem because it is all over the internet. There should be a recall and our costs reimbursed if we have had to make the repairs on our own.
The vehicle’s lock/unlock feature is inoperable either via the buttons on the door inside the vehicle or via the key fob. There is no manual way to lock/unlock the vehicle from inside the vehicle. Driver and passengers could only exit vehicle via rear lift gate or thru the vehicle windows. Should driver or passengers have had mobility issues or not been able to crawl through the vehicle to exit via the tailgate, they would not have been able to exit the vehicle in the event of any emergency. Incident has happened on at least 3 separate occasions.
The Automatic braking assist feature goes off at times when there is no threat of hitting something. It happens when pulling into a garage and also on the road while driving. There have been several occasions when this happened and the car suddenly brakes which could have resulted in being rear-ended. The car suddenly brakes even if there is no danger of running into a car (or garage) in front of me. It has not been inspected (yet) but it seems to be increasingly becoming more of an issue lately. There were no warning lamps or messages just the sudden, hard-braking and loud noise/buzzing it makes when it happens. There have been several occasions but I'm listing the most recent one below.
Twice this vehicle has exhibited this behavior. The collision avoidance system would flash a red warning on the HUD showing that a pedestrian was in front of the vehicle with the vehicle brakes 'hard' engaging causing the vehicle to 'nose dive' even though there was no pedestrian in front of the vehicle. This is disconcerting to those inside the vehicle and potentially be a crash issue with any vehicle following to close behind my Acadia. This may be an issue with the sensors/software used by GM and thus a safety issue that should be reviewed.
Center console display does not start when you start vehicle. Stays blank! This happens occasionally. Sometimes restarting will fix, other times not. There is no rear view camera when this happens. Not sure what else is affected, such as backup warnings.
After driving 5 miles up the road and 5 miles back home, I put the vehicle in park and it automatically went into neutral and the neutral button started flashing! Along with that I got an alert sent to my iphone (through the GMC app) and in the car saying “shift to park”. The car wouldn’t go into park! The vehicle hadn’t had any error codes or messages before this at all! It was out of nowhere! I drove it earlier that day and it didn’t do it! We also noticed after doing the update on July 7th, 2022 that the vehicle started shifting very hard! I was in the vehicle alone with 2 small babies and I couldn’t cut the vehicle off because it wouldn’t go into park! We had to wait for my husband to leave work and come home to unhook the battery just so we could get out of the car safely and so the battery wouldn’t go dead over night! The following morning we hooked the battery up and the vehicle wouldn’t turn over at all! We just bought this vehicle from a dealership in October 2021! We haven’t had it even a year yet and after researching our year make and model to see what was going on.. we have realized that almost every year from 2019 back had a recall concerning the “shift to park” error! I have been almost 2 weeks without a vehicle while it’s been at the Chevy dealership and it took 5 days for anyone to even contact me! It makes no sense and now they are saying that they can’t tell if it’s covered under my power train warranty because they can’t crank the vehicle to see if I’m wit
Navigation system stops working / all cameras stop working give a triangle with exclamation in the middle / radio also shuts down
AUTO STOP enabled while stopped at a stop sign on an uphill incline, there is enough of a delay on restart that it lurches and jerks upon restart, cant be good for transmission and passengers. very much a nusiance.
While driving, the power steering went out and a service power steering message appeared. I turned off the vehicle and waited a few minutes and when the car was turned on it went away and the power steering came back.
I noticed for months it was downshifting hard but transmission department was backed up I scheduled in September for an appointment October 26 and that morning I received a call to reschedule because they were still behind and had another appointment for November 10th. The morning of the incident 1st it did not want to start it would only turn over. When it started the check engine light was on (I called service he asked if I could drive it and told me to bring it in). Within 10 miles of driving, the car started to slow down. When I pressed the gas the RPMs would go up but the car would not accelerate. I was on the interstate so I started to coast to the side. When I got to the other side of the rumble tracks the fuel gauge warning came on saying no fuel (even though I had half a tank which was verified through the service department) and the car came to an abrupt stop. Had I not gotten over when I did the car would have stopped on the highway. I tried to turn it on to move it farther off the road and it would not. It started to just turned over like it did when I originally tried that morning (all over the occurrences happened while I was on the phone with Adrienne who i contacted through the gm help line).
The vehicle was purchased brand new from Serra GMC in Washington Michigan in April 2020. It has been back to the dealer 5 times for the same issue, with another 4 times that it was not taken into dealer! Reoccurring issue involves the instrument cluster, All gages and visual indicators go to zero (speed, tach, fuel, temp, etc...) as well as getting a notification that the traction control is disabled, the ABS is disabled, cruise is disabled, and other electronic aid. This happens at highway speeds and to loose all function is a safety concern, it is not repeatable and happens randomly but it is the same issue. The dealer claims to fix the issue but it always comes back. GM has told me to accept the issue as its not detectable however this is unacceptable as it puts my family at risk. I have videos of the instrument cluster going to zero but its to big to attached - I can provide it if you contact me or tell me how to share it
The contact owns a 2020 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the brake was applied independently. The contact mentioned that the brake was operating when there was nothing in front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the cause of the failure was undetermined. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was not repaired. in addition, the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the vehicle started slowing inadvertently. The contact stated that the vehicle was locked and needed to be in the park to operate however, once the accelerator pedal was depressed the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The mechanic experienced the failure with the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer however, a diagnostic test was not performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided a case number. The approximate failure mileage was 16,000. The VIN was not provided.
The contact owns a 2020 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that she was rear-ended by another vehicle at a high rate of speed while attempting to make a left turn. As a result, the front passenger seat fractured. The air bags failed to deploy upon impact; the contact hit her head and was knocked unconscious during the incident. The contact was taken to the hospital by ambulance and was treated for a hematoma on her forehead above her right eye. Her husband, who was driving the vehicle, was later treated for muscle pain in his back. A police report was filed at the scene. The vehicle was towed from the scene to an independent mechanic where it remained in their possession. The dealer nor the manufacturer had to be notified of the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle sustained significant damage; however, it had yet to be examined or deemed a loss. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
The backup and surround view cameras repeatedly fail. I took it in once and they replaced the head unit. The problem reappeared within days after this repair. The design of this truck makes visibility without the cameras difficult at best and dangerous at worst.
The ACADIA 2020 while in slow motion approaching my private condominium parking spot, accelerated autonomously and then slammed into the cement wall. Airbags deployed, no warning of collision, seriously damaged both car and cement wall. No bodily injuries. I researched the possible cause coded P2138 which involves the drive by wire sensors which connect the throttle pedal and the CPU that controls the mechanical throttle gas system. That might be the cause of the autonomous acceleration like explained about the P2138 sensors issues.
TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND HAD A CATASTROPHIC LOSS OF AIR SUDDENLY AND WENT FROM 40PSI TO 0 PSI IN ABOUT 15 SECONDS. OCCURRED ON PASSENGER SIDE REAR. UPON INSPECTION OF TIRE NOTHING WAS FOUND IN EVIDENCE TO HAVE CAUSED THIS FAILURE. TWO DIFFERENT AGENCY'S EXAMINED TIRE AND SAID IT WAS IRREPARABLE. IN DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THIS FOUND THAT THIS BRAND OF TIRES - CONTINENTAL CROSS XL SPORT CROSS CONTACT MODEL HAS BEEN INVOLVED WITH A RECALL FOR OVER CURED TIRES CAUSING SUDDEN LOSS OF AIR. BOTH THE DEALER AND GM STATED THAT OUR TIRES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. WE WERE DRIVING ON THE PARKWAY AND HAD NOT HIT ANYTHING OR RAN OVER ANYTHING TO CAUSE THIS. WE FEEL THAT THESE TIRES SHOULD BE ALSO PART OF RECALL. WE ARE REPLACING THE OTHER THREE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE AS WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING WITH THOSE TIRES.
FUEL GAUGE READS AT 3/4 OR 1/2 TANK AFTER REFILLING FUEL.
BRAND NEW VEHICLE. PURCHASED ON 10/30/2020. FRONT COLLISION KEEPS FLASHING A RED LIGHT IN THE TOP OF DASH THAT SHOWS UP IN WINDSHIELD. THIS HAPPENS WITH NO OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD AT RANDOM TIMES. WHEN THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO STOP OR WARN YOU IT WILL NOT. IT WILL JUST LET YOU HIT A PEDESTRIAN OR ANOTHER CAR. WE NOTICED THAT THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING WITH THE REAR SAFETY CROSS TRAFFIC.
2020 GMC ACADIA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO LOSS OF POWER AT LOW SPEEDS AND JERKING WITH BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. *LD *JS
WHILE IN MOTION- BLIND SPOT SENSORS TURN ON WHEN THEY SHOULD NOT AND VICE VERSA. TRACTION CONTROL HAS FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING. PREDICTIVE BRAKING HAS ACTIVATED IMPROPERLY MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING. CAMERAS WENT OUT AND THEN BATTERY COMPLETELY DIED. WAS TOLD FIXING BATTERY WOULD FIX VEHICLE. THIS HAS PROVEN TO BE UNTRUE. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN FOR SERVICE FOR THIRD TIME. REMAINS UNDER WARRANTY, AS I HAVE HAD IT THREE MONTHS. MOST RECENT DATE HAS BEEN USED BUT I'VE HAD PROBLEMS SINCE LITERALLY THE FIRST FULL DAY I HAVE HAD IT.
SQUEAKING NOISE FROM THE FRONT END DRIVER SIDE JUST APPEARED WHILE DRIVING. DRIVER SEATBELT WILL NOT LATCH ON THE FIRST COUPLE OF TRIES.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
