I have had intermittent issue with a message to shift the car to park when I shut it off. It was in park. If I wiggled the shifter it would often correct. That went on for a few years on and off. Lately it was more persistent. I brought it into the dealer and they replaced a harness and a switch. Seems that a harness would not go bad unless it had a manufacturer defect. I have seen a lot of reports on this issue on online blog sites. Seems to be a common problem. The problem with this defect is that when it is sin that mode, you cannot safely secure the vehicle and warning bells keep ringing. So the vehicle cannot be left like that and expect it to be secure.

I have a 2019 GMCAcadia Denali with less than 60000 miles. The problem I have with the vehicle is I get a error that say "Park to Shift. I don' know if it is in park or not. I am afraid that it isn't in park and will create a safety issue and injuries. It is my understanding that the same problem with the 2020+ GMC Acadia and is listed in a RECALL. Why isn't 2019 not included in this recall?

Im a travel nurse and I was working in Vermont. As I was driving on the highway in New York on my way back home a shift to park light came on, a stabilitrak light came on, power steering light came on, ABS light came on, and my check engine light also came on. My vehicle started slowing down as I was driving and my lights on my dashboard were turning on and off and my speedometer was not working. I was able to pull to the side off the highway so I could get out of harms way. I made a call to OnStar for help and they asked to if I made it to a safe location. As the car was still on I was able to take the next exit and ended up in an auto zone parking lot. As I made it in the parking lot I turned the vehicle off but only the engine turned off but everything else stayed on and the shift to park light kept coming on when the vehicle was in park. I was in the parking lot for 3-4 hours freezing in my vehicle until onstar came to tow my vehicle. By the time onstar came my battery in my car had drained and it was a new battery. I was told that I would have to contact auto transport to transport my vehicle to Louisiana at the dealership where the vehicle was purchased. I paid $1600 to transport my vehicle back home and I had to find a way to make it back to Louisiana. I didn’t have a credit card so a friend of mine was able to rent me a vehicle to get home and I paid a total of $1700 on a rental because the dealership in Louisiana couldn’t give me a time or date the vehicle would have

Our 2019 was repaired back in 2021 for a "shift to park" issue. This same issue is happening again after 2 years of being repaired. We see that there is a major issue with GMC vehicles and there have been recalls for this same exact issue. GMC Coleman, Lawrence NJ is refusing to fix problem under a recall. We would like this to be covered or reimbursed.

Yes, my vehicle is available for inspection upon request. When I go to put my 2019 GMC Acadia in "park" the shifter states it is in park & the dashboard shows it in "P." However, when I turn the vehicle off, an error message comes up reading "shift to park" and my car wont fully shut off. You can feel the car move forward or backwards a tiny bit (depending where vehicle is parked). This makes me have to turn the vehicle back on, shift into "drive," back into "park," and then shut the engine off and pray the "shift to park" display doesn't come up. This process was repeated this morning when I arrived at Walmart 3x before it finally shut off, then when I got home it happened at least 8x before I could safely leave my car in my garage without the worry of it not truly being in park. This has gotten to the point I have bought wheel chalks to put around my car tires because I am afraid this vehicle could roll down my driveway into my neighbor's house or kill some kid playing in our culdesac. I let the last place I was at know & they told me GMC was aware of the issue, but that there was no way to fix it (Auto Revival in Justin, TX). I am unsure as to whether this issue happened for them or not, as nothing was mentioned after being told GMC is aware. That was on January 10th, 2024. No one else has looked at it besides that. It seemed to be occurring less frequently for several months, and then now it is the worst it has ever been.

Driver side blind spot not longer works. When driving the blind spot indicator just stopped working a month ago and I didn't take notice until I almost hit another car. I contacted gmc about this issue as well and was also told there isn't any recall for this and it would have to be diagnosed by there mechanics. There were no other issues prior to this. Also the "shift to park" warning has been popping up for 3 days now when my car is in park. My car won't complete shut everything off until that warning is turned off. I called GMC of puyallup and was told only certain vin qualifies for the recall for the gmc 2019 acadia. That's absolutely ridiculous! I can't exit my vehicle until the car senor knows my vehicle is in park which is a major concern and safety issue because my home is on a slope.

I would park my car and try to turn off car. The car would not turn off. The car continued to ding the car remained on. The safety issue is the car wouldn't turn off. After many many times shifting from park to drive it would finally park, this happened every time using the car. I discovered the same exact issue is a recall on 2017 & 2018 GMC Acadia our exact car ! Called the dealer explaining SHIFT TO PARK issue. Brought the car to Buick GMC of Mahwah they noted in fact it was SHIFT TO PARK issue. Two days later came in for the car they would not cover problem. Cost $950.00 for exact recall the 2 years prior. Also, contacted GMC corp. they were no help just said had no recall. Our car is 2019 Acadia with 27,236 miles.

I’ve taken my car to the dealership twice for transmission issues. One time the engine/transmission light came on, they kept it for a month and told me they didn’t find anything. Wrong. 2 months later I took it back because it felt like it wouldn’t change out of gears and felt lint the transmission was slipping, they told me they me since it wasn’t a light on they couldn’t check it without a code. I then had to take it to another dealership because a code came back on and they said it was something. Four months later my transmission went out while I was driving down the hwy. I have a 2019 gmc Acadia. I had the same similar codes on 3 different occasions.

The "Shift to Park" error warning comes on even though the vehicle is in park. The vehicle will not turn off. I had this issue with my 2017 GMC Acadia. They tried to fix it once, but it came back. I see in the 2019 version that they have added an audible dinging to the warning. I would have thought after at least 2 years they would have resolved this issue. They just made it more annoying by adding the dinging.

After roughly 7000 miles of use the 235/55R20 102V Goodyear Assurance Weatherready tire has a bulge in the sidewall. There are no scuffs or scars on the tire to indicate an impact caused the bulge, it appears there is some sort of separation within the layers of the sidewall. I asked a Goodyear retailer to inspect the tire and they said it's automatically considered impact damage if the bulge is in the sidewall and Goodyear would not warrant such damage even though there is no evidence such as cuts, scuffs or scars. The tire inflation is to manufacturer's specifications and the tire isn't loosing pressure. DOT 1M78AJA5R purchased Oct 22, 2023 date code 3622

When I shifted to Park and hit the button to turn the car off, it continuously chimed and flashed the Shift to Park message on the dashboard. It would not allow me to fully turn off the car, stating I was not in Park, even though I was. I would have to turn the car back on, shift into drive or reverse, move forward or backward a little bit, hit the brake a few times, put it back to Park, hit the button, and hope it would turn off. It usually took four or five times of this routine before it would finally turn off correctly. It began happening more and more frequently over the course of a week by the time I could get it into the dealer. This is a safety issue, as the car was not fully in Park, and leaving it that way would have drained the battery as well as not allowed me to lock the doors while parked in my driveway. Thankfully, I have an extended warranty (car has 55,000 miles) and only had to pay my $200 deductible, but it was an over $500 fix. As this EXACT SAME issue is prevalent in these cars and was recalled on my same model in previous years, I feel the recall should be extended and these expenditures reimbursed.

I am met with a consistent ding and error messages displaying “Shift to Park.” With this error message I am unable to fully turn my car off, it drains the battery and I cannot lock my car door. I have to turn the car back on and mess with the shifter which sometime takes a longtime. I cannot just leave my car on and drain the other components; it’s frustrating. I called my local GMC dealer. I told them about the current issues with these cars as it isn’t a secret that this is a common problem. Last week I parked in a large public parking lot and attempted to turn my car off. I received a notification in my dash to “shift to park” even though my car was already in park. I was unable to turn the car off or lock the doors. I ended up having to leave. I have now gotten this message six times in the past week. It can take up to twenty minutes to get the car to turn off so I can exit. Yesterday upon returning to the car I showed an error message as soon as I started it that the parking brake needed service, stabilitrak is disabled and steering assist is disabled- drive with care. As I tried to exit the parking lot, I found it almost impossible to turn the steering week. I pulled over and restarted the car, releasing the steering wheel so I could get home. This morning, all of the service lights were on and periodic warnings flashed on my dash throughout my drive to work. I contacted the dealership and was told that there is a recall for this exact issue on the 2015-2018 models of my car. I have a 2019. This is certainly a dangerous issue that should be proactively fixed and is clearly still present in years that are not being included in the recall. I was told my car was one month past its warranty and told I could pay 250$ for the issue to be assessed and then they could quote me on a fix. The dealership acknowledged that this is an issue they regularly fix.
