2026 Genesis GV80

Defect. Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain Genesis 2025-2026 G80, GV80, 2026 G80 "Electrified," GV60, GV70 "Electrified" and GV70 vehicles. Due to a software error, the instrument panel display may fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Controls and Displays."

Risk. An instrument panel display that fails to show critical safety information, such as the speedometer or fuel gauge, increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Owners are advised to disable the high definition (HD) radio feature until the recall remedy has been performed. The audio video navigation software will be updated over-the-air (OTA) or inspected and updated by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning February 17, 2026. Owners may contact Genesis customer service at 844-340-9741. Hyundai's number for this recall is 031G. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning January 17, 2026.

This car has stalled 3 times. Randomly, but each time while car was fully stopped. Once when I was sitting in a parking lot about to pull into traffic, and when waiting for a light to go from red to green. After these two times I took car to dealer. They ran diagnostics and said there were NO error codes. They tried to reproduce but could not. I asked them to reset all computers in car, which they did. But it happened again yesterday. This third time, weather is nice, about 68 degrees. I had been driving about 3 miles, waiting for a light to change. I believe the car went into “Auto stop”, like usual, but when light changed and I took foot off brake, car stalled. It then BEEPS rapidly at me, and I believe the warning message says something like “Can not start car in Drive, please put in Park”. As cars are behind me and honking furiously, I put drive selector into P, and push start button, it starts and I drive away. Safety issue is cars behind me, expecting me to move, and I can’t. I worry about being rear ended. Each time I believe car had gone into “Auto stop” mode to conserve gas. Each time Weather was clear and normal. One time it happened with my wife in car. I was not fiddling with any controls. I have other cars with “auto stop” and this never happens. I only use brand name high octane gas. I am contacting dealer about this third incident, but don’t have much hope that they will find anything to fix. Have you had any other complaints like this from other owners of this

On June 18 at approximately 9:50 p.m., I was driving my 2026 Genesis GV80 (6,493 miles) on a highway where traffic was reduced to one lane due to road paving. Traffic was heavily congested. I came to a complete stop behind a tractor-trailer on a flat/level roadway and remained stationary for approximately 30–40 seconds with my foot on the brake. The vehicle's automatic start/stop feature had been manually disabled. While completely stopped, the vehicle unexpectedly began moving forward toward the tractor-trailer despite my foot being on the brake pedal. I released and reapplied/pumped the brakes multiple times, but the vehicle continued moving forward. The brake pedal felt normal. I attempted to place the transmission into Park, but there was no response and no warning or message. The vehicle continued forward and contacted the rear of the tractor-trailer. After contact, the vehicle stopped and I was then able to place it in Park. When traffic began moving, I put the vehicle back into Drive. Because heavy traffic prevented me from safely exiting the lane, I remained in place but left additional distance from the tractor-trailer. The same condition occurred a second time: while again at a complete stop, the vehicle began moving forward with the brake pedal fully depressed. Rock went through front grill. No protective screen behind. Punctured radiator. Coolant sprayed out at high velocity. Rendered vehicle un drivable. Towed away. Barely 1,000 miles on it.

The Engine Control Module (ECM) malfunctioned. The dealer replaced it with a new one. When it malfunctioned, the car would not accelerate to a speed greater than 20mph. This was dangerous because I was driving on a state highway where the speed limit is 55mph, and I could have been rear-ended. Since having the ECM replaced, the car's performance has been fine. The Check Engine light did activate more than one day before the incident, which also sent a message to the Genesis app on my phone.

My leased 2026 Genesis GV80 2.5T has three unresolved defects: (1) a persistent vibration felt while driving, most noticeable at highway speed; (2) a separate vibration present at idle; and (3) excessive heat in the second-row floor area, discovered during a highway drive — the floor became dangerously hot to the touch, creating a burn risk to rear-seat occupants. Safety risk: The heat issue poses a direct burn hazard to anyone seated in the second row, including a child or pet. The driving vibration affects vehicle stability and confidence at speed. Together they compromise safe operation. Reproduced/confirmed: The vehicle has been brought to two dealers — Genesis of Lake Norman and Genesis of Columbia. Neither has resolved the issues. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Manufacturer/other inspection: UNKNOWN whether Genesis Corporate has independently inspected the vehicle. No police or insurance inspection has occurred, as no crash resulted. Warning lamps/messages: None observed. No dashboard warning lamps or messages appeared in connection with either the vibration or the heat. Symptoms first appeared during normal driving [around MONTH/YEAR] and have recurred since, without resolution despite dealer visits.

When the adaptive cruise control system is engaged while wearing prescription eyeglasses, either my regular clear lenses or prescription polarized sunglasses , a persistent audible and visual warning sounds approximately every two (2) minutes creating a distraction. The warning states "Keep your eyes on the road and drive safely. Driver assistance system is limited."

Despite wearing glasses, sunglasses, or no glasses, the problem This occurs regardless of the time of day, weather conditions, or whether I am sitting upright or reclining. The warning alerts even when eyes are persistently and continuously on the road. The warning randomly activates every 2-5 minutes and extremely disruptive and distracting to driving.
