Had a catastrophic brake failure a couple days ago. Had a Christmas tree of lights from traction control, brakes and the wrench. The brakes had about 15% power effectiveness and went down nearly to the floor. Was forced to have a significant car gap when driving, downshift gears and use the emergency brake when slowing down and stopping. This is the worst hazard situation I have had in over 40 years of driving. Brake fluid was full. No leaks on the lines, calipers are fine, brakes were recently replaced(within past 2 months) and are fine. I have a picture of the warning lights documenting problem. I have not had any previous errors or problems like this.

After hitting some fairly harsh bumps, the next application of the brake pedal went almost to the floor and i had almost no brakes. there were no warning lamps, the brakes are good and the fluid level is ok.
Lost 100% of electrical power steering while driving. Almost went over a drop-off while on a cloverleaf freeway exit which would have caused significant harm or death. The steering wheel was very difficult to turn and I needed to sit up out of my seat to use leverage from my body weight. I pulled over after that and found the closest Ford dealership. I carefully drove to the dealership and waited for them to open. While waiting I researched the issue and realized this was a Safety recall and very common. Recall is 15V340000. Once they opened I went in to see how long the recall would take to fix. The dealership said the safety recall isn't valid due to they reset my ECU when the recall initially came out instead of replacing the recalled safety part. Which allowed them to terminate the recall on my car. They scheduled to look at my car two weeks out and said it would estimate a $2000 bill, when I asked about a loaner vehicle since this is a known safety recall item and driving the car would be a significant risk to self and the others on public roads. They stated I could leave it there for two weeks but they wouldn't provide transportation. Since this is my only vehicle and I live off the Military Base I have to drive to make it to Duty. So I had to keep driving this vehicle on public roads creating a safety issue for myself and others on the road.
While I was driving down the road my cars information center showed a message of 'service power steering soon'. Stopped vehicle and restarted it to be met with a new message of 'service power steering now' with a total loss of power steering. Ford dealership tech confirmed a lack of power steering and confirmed the presence of DTC P07AE which was the exact code and issue of recalls 15S18 and 15N01. Recall work was completed by prior owner but there was no replacement of steering gear at the time and only a software update done, which and the issue I had was what the recall was based on. Ford refused to pay for repair stating the recall was closed even though it was 100% the same issue as the recall as confirmed by ford technician.

Transmission slipping, lurching, hard shift, jerking while driving. No prior lamp warnings or other symptoms. Break pedal when applied or released after acceleration or just before a complete stop vehicle makes a pin ball bouncing sound then when acceleration repeated transmission issues. This has put my saftey at risk as well as my passengers because of the sudden slipping, lurching, hard shift, jerking while driving. Trying to understand problem I came across a ongoing investigation regarding ford and knowingly using faulty transmission in a multitude of there vehicles in which mine is exhibiting exactly same behaviors.

Power steering went out and very hard to steer, "power steering assist fault" came on. There was no prior warning from the dashboard or the steering. I thought there was a recall on it from what I read. Dealer informed me that is a 10 year warranty and that it expired. I have read many people have this problem. NHTSA and Ford refuse to recognize it as a safety issue for it to be recalled. I guess many people have to be killed or injured before any action is taken.

When driving to a friend's house the steering wheel froze and an error message appeared on the instrument cluster. The error read "power steering assist fault." This was a known issue that required a reprogramming or replacement of steering gear. Ford is saying that I am out of warranty, which I don't understand because clearly the issue was not fixed. I thought safety recalls never expired. This issue affects me and other people on the road, my community!

FORD has failed to remedy this safety recall for my vehicle in a timely manner. I have tried to schedule my FFH airbag recall repair for months. The dealership never answers their phone, nor do they respond to written inquiries. I also have called FORD and spent hours on the phone with no resolution. My mechanic can perform the recall repair. I need specific contact info for billing, so I can get my recall paid for (that my mechanic will perform). I am worried about the unrepaired recall, and the safety of those in my vehicle. Please do not respond by providing contact info for the dealership or FORD. I have already attempted to contact & schedule several times. They will not answer. *** I need specific contact info for billing so I can get my recall repaired by my mechanic***

I was sitting in line at a Valvoline Instant Oil Change on Dixie Highway in Louisville, Kentucky. Due to the time waiting, I would turn my car off and restart when the line moved. After my last restart, the power steering no longer worked. I turned it off and restarted. Still no power steering. I went ahead and got the oil changed. Restarted to leave the bay area without power steering. I parked in the lot of the business and called for a wrecker service to tow my car home and had another family member pick me up. I noticed on the internet that this is not an unique problem. My car had 77,951 miles on it when the power steering went out. It happened 12/3/2021. I had the air bag recall worked done on 8/8/2022 and a diagnostic done on the power steering. They reported an internal component failure, along with loose outer tie rods. They said it was the steering gears (in other words, the rack and pinion). Fortunately, I was where I was at when it happened, as I am 82 years old. I could have very had an accident, because of the power steering failure.

When needing to take the tires off, the socket that came with the vehicle spare tire would not fit on the lug nuts. Upon research we discovered this was a known problem that the factory lug nuts would swell, thus not being able to use the standard equipment provided with the vehicle. I want to replace these lug nuts, however I am not finding lug nuts that will hold the wheel cover onto the wheel.
The car was shaking at a low speed. When taken to the shop it was determined that the rotor was damaging the break lines which caused a need for a rotor, break pad , & break fluid lines. Once that work was done the brake pedal was soft & would not depress correctly. It is looking like a defective ABS module, which is what was recalled on the 2010 & below. His IS a problem with the 2011 too. It needs to be rectified! Ford, do the right thing.

While driving at freeway speed, my 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid suddenly shutdown before I could pull over safely exposing me to extreme harm from other cars. This is a 2011 Ford Fusion HYBRID sedan. This happened to me on 2 separate occasions several months apart. Was driving at a moderate speed about 20 mph and applied the brakes to slow down but upon depressing the brake pedal the dashboard suddenly lit up with Service lights and the brake pedal sank to the floor with no power assist at all. It was difficult to bring the vehicle to a full stop. Put vehicle in park, turned the ignition off and back on again , and it seems to operate normally again as if nothing went wrong.
The electronic traction control light would come on but then go off. Was driving home on the interstate doing about 75 when lost all power steering. There is none at all. Got home finally, and started checking into the issue. Ford did a recall in 2015 on this and if the car showed problems when brought in then the service center replaced the faulty part., If it showed no problems then they only reprogrammed the vehicle which left the original faulty part in the vehicle that was reprogrammed when it had no codes given.. which is to say that nothing was done because how can you fix an issue that the vehicle doesn't see as there? It was a way for ford to get out of having to pay and replace the issue. I feel that my life and anyone else's life that was on the road when it went out was in high danger. When I contacted ford on the issue they stated that because the car had been brought in and been reprogrammed for a problem that the car didn't have because it didn't see one to give a code they wouldn't replace the part. Now how can you have 2 solurioy for the same problem and one of them is to replace the part but only for vehicles that it went out in? If it's the part that is subpar( it is ) then what good does it do to reprogram when the low quality and poorly designed part that can't be serviced is not replaced for all of the cars that it is on? But I guess if I had a whole group of people that did nothing but around and think of loop holes to get around actually solving the is
On several occasions my teenage daughter has had her life put in danger by this mfg defect when the Ford Fusion suddenly flashes a red wrench warning sign and decelerates to a snail’s crawl in the middle of an interstate highway. This happens frequently on hotter days when the car has been run for over an hour. It is unacceptable, dangerous and sad that there’s been no required safety recall by Ford to fix this problem. A simple search online shows this to be happening repeatedly.
POWER STEERING SHUTS DOWN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION - WHILE MAKING TURNS OR EVEN SLIGHT TURNS WITH THE STEERING WHEEL. ERROR MESSAGE ON DASH BOARD IS POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. THE ABILITY TO CONTROL THE CAR VARIES WITH THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE. MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT FORD CONTINUES TO SEND OUT VEHICLES WITH ELECTRONIC STEERING AND HAS NOT RESOLVED THESE PROBLEMS. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY HAZARD.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
