My 2016 focus has 32,000 miles on the powershift dual clutch transmission and needs to be replaced, per the Ford dealer. The warrantee I purchased at the dealer does not cover the "dry clutch" issue. I can see online dealers have repaired or replaced this issue for free as it is a known issue now, many lawsuits and even being paid by Ford, why not mine. Not only is car shifting funny, but sometimes won't go int gear.

Fords Powershift Dual clutch started to go out at 93,000 miles with noticeable slippage and hesitation when accelerating, a hazard. A Ford dealership inspected and said nothing looked wrong and we should continue to drive the car (an extended Ford warranty was still in place due to these transmissions, 2012-2016, having a history of issues). Months later a second Ford dealership said it was the worst transmission vibration they've ever seen and couldn't believe we hadn't noticed earlier. Of course, now the warranty was expired and we had to pay the $2139 to have the clutch assemble replaced. Unsafe and bad customer support/ownership on a poor design.
At 85000 miles the dual clutch failed. At 88,219 miles the transmission failed. The car had started to shudder when it shifted when the dealership told me the clutched need to be replaced. The transmission died with no warning on a sub-zero night. I'm lucky that it died in my driveway rather than someplace out of the way. The failure of the transmission was confirmed by an independent service center. The clutch was replaced by a Ford dealership

Hello this complaint is in reference to recall #18S32. I had issues with my vehicle telling me I had gas when it was really empty. The dealership got me in, said it was a recall and repaired it quickly for me, This was in 2019. The past couple months my vehicle is stalling when I get gas. It's usually always associated with me getting gas. I had some mechanics check it out and they all said it was the purge evaporator valve. They informed me to contact the dealership because there should be a recall on this issue. I contacted them and was told there isn't. So I haven't gotten it fixed because well money. I looked it up and there is a recall on that specific thing but the dealership is claiming it was "fixed" in 2019, and they cannot fix it again. I contacted ford and they told me the same thing. I'm just at a lost and concerned because I do not know who to contact or where to go from here since this issue is still tied to a recall issue that was supposedly "fixed"

We purchased a 2016 Ford Focus for our daughters first car. We purchased the car in 2020 used with very low miles. We didn't realize at the time these vehicles had issues with the clutches (but thought it would be OK because after research, we found out the vehicles in the Ford Class Action Lawsuit were model years 2014-2016) and then found out her vehicle build date was just outside of that window by 9 months. But regardless, we had issues from the start with the vehicle shuttering when she accelerated. So we took it in late fall 2020 after we had it a few months and it was a bad clutch. Ford Service replaced the clutch in Dec. 2020 under the Powertrain Warranty coverage. It was better, but within 6 months it started shuttering again, not horrible, but noticable. We took it in for a Check Engine light in Aug. of 2021 and also mentioned to Ford Service that it is already shuttering again. They said it was still safe to drive, but I didn't like that it was already happening when they just replaced the clutch. And if they would've done somethign then, it would've still been within the 5 year powertrain warranty. Then late in 2022 I contacted Ford again because I had driven my daughters car out of town, when it gets heated up from highway driving, it shutters extremely bad when you get back in town and accelerate from a stop. So much so that the whole car shakes and doesn't just accelerate normally at all. We called Ford and they opened a Case #, said we had to get it diagnosed

I have been having problems with ford focus for a long time. I have been told that this is normal. Recently, I had my car fixed by ford. Soon after, I was having problems with car slow start, hesitation and studdering. This is the same problems I was having before. I was told by Ford dealership that it was not the transmission. They told me that it was a crack engine head and purge valve problem. I paid for the fix even though I felt like it should have been covered in a recall. The car is not fix. I have completed 2 surveys with Ford. The department of transportation should investigate ford for its ford focuses.

I am having issue out of my engine harness I have shorts all in my harness and am only at 100k miles.
The transmission started failing in 2020 and part of it was repaired on a recall and part we had to pay out of pocket. The entire steering rack failed in July of 2022 requiring replacement. Reports suggest this is a known issue yet Ford offered nothing. Now the transmission is slipping and failing again less than two years since being repaired by Ford. This is a critical safety issue and they can't diagnose the car for 4-6 weeks and are offering no rental assistance for a known factory defect. These cars are dangerous and the fact that Ford won't do anything to jump on the problem when it happens means more liability for the drivers of these vehicles.

Both servos on the dps6 dual clutch transmission have failed at 2 different times causing the transmission to give an in dash transmission overheating message and stopped the vehicle in the middle of the road. This happened the 6 year mark and 7 year mark after the standard 5 year warranty. The vehicle has 26k miles and is not used stressfully. This issue occurred on January 24 2021 and Dec 22 2022. Different servo affected each time. Cost for consumer repair $600 each. Same issue was found in same year model focus vehicles but my VIN was apparently not included.

The oil pump failed while driving causing the engine to seize up. This occurred moments after the oil light came on giving the driver little time to react. The vehicle had to be physically pushed out of a busy intersection to get it out of the way of traffic. NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
