I own a 2019 Ford Fiesta. The backup camera frequently malfunctions by either displaying a black screen, freezing, or glitching with distorted visuals. This issue occurs more often than not when the vehicle is put into reverse. I’ve confirmed that my vehicle is not included in NHTSA Recall Number 22V082000, but the symptoms match exactly. This creates a clear safety concern, especially in school zones, parking lots, and other areas where visibility behind the vehicle is critical. I believe my vehicle should be included in the existing recall or a new investigation should be opened for additional affected vehicles outside of the current VIN range.

Filed May 10, 2025VA

•Make: Ford •Model: Fiesta ST •Model Year: 2019 •Engine: 1.6L EcoBoost •Mileage at Incident: 95000 Component Affected: Engine / Cooling System Summary of Problem: Coolant is leaking into the combustion chamber of my 1.6L EcoBoost engine due to a suspected internal engine defect. This issue caused noticeable white smoke from the exhaust, engine misfires, and a loss of power while driving. The coolant loss was not visible externally, indicating internal leakage. After diagnostic testing at a Ford dealership, I was informed the engine block or cylinder head is compromised, allowing coolant intrusion into the cylinders. The dealer quoted approximately $12,000 for a full engine replacement and confirmed that this is a known issue with Ford EcoBoost engines. Safety Concerns: The vehicle became unreliable and unsafe to drive, especially at highway speeds, due to the misfiring and sudden power loss. If this failure had occurred during certain driving conditions, it could have led to an accident. Furthermore, the cost of repair is unreasonably high for a systemic engine defect not caused by consumer neglect. Request for Investigation: This appears to be part of a broader, well-documented problem with various EcoBoost engines across Ford’s lineup ( TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 19-2346 2.0L EcoBoost - Coolant In Cylinders, White Exhaust Smoke And/Or Illuminated MIL). I am submitting this complaint in hopes that NHTSA will investigate the safety implications of this engine defect and push

Due to my 2019 ford fiesta SE back up camera glitching in and out and sometimes doesn’t work at all. Today it finally worked as I was backing up out of food lion parking lot. A mother and child were walking behind me all of a sudden the camera glitched and if I had not checked my review mirror quickly. I could have backed up over that small child on his tricycle. Please hurry and come up with an effective solid fix. If a teenager has these vehicles, somebody could really get hurt. Please email me immediately when you have the equipment to fix this problem because this is not OK. It’s dangerous very dangerous. Thank you.

2019 FORD FIESTA ST First off the car is absolutely show room condition with 8,000 miles on it. I was rolling up to a stop side which is located on a hill and noticed when i put the clutch it the clutch was stuck to the floor. The car lurched forward and could not get the car to accelerate after being stuck in the middle of an intersection. Finally i was able to pop the clutch out with my toes off the floor and get the vehicle home. Spoke with a friend that has the same car with 30,000 miles on it and he is also having issues with the clutch going to the floor and getting stuck. Upon research this is a common complaint and a serious safety issue but FORD seems to be very quiet about it. I can't imagine there is not significantly more of these issues especially when my closest friend is having identical issues. Upon research this looks to be very common issue but no TSP or recalls.

Upon stopping when applying the brakes they locked up. There were no warning lights on. It was diagnosed by an independent auto repair shop, not drivable I had it towed to the Ford Dealership. The ABS module, and calipers have failed. I learned there was a recall on these parts but do not apply to my specific vin #. The ABS module is on national back order, likely a month out. I have paid for the part. The service dept quoted new rotors calipers/hose and pads I think this vehicle may need to be added to the recall since it is the exact same failure. Luckily I was in town and not on the interstate when the brake system failed.

My clutch slave cylinder failed with approximately 64000 mi on the vehicle. This is a hydraulic system sharing the same reservoir as the brakes. The clutch pedal stuck to the floor leaving me unable to change gear while driving on the highway. Had to pull off on the side of the road and manually pull up the clutch with my hand. After that it functioned seemingly fine. I took the car to a local garage who diagnosed the issue and said it was fairly common on these cars. Part has not been replaced yet so it cannot be inspected but it is scheduled to go in to have the transmission dropped and slave cylinder replaced. There were no lamps messages or other warning signs prior to the incident on the highway aside from a slight softening of the clutch feel which occured during the months proceeding the failure. The clutch in this vehicle is notoriously soft to begin with so it did not feel much different. Thank you

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle displayed an engine overheating warning on the instrument panel. The contact pulled over and waited for the engine to cool down before continuing to drive. The contact stated that the failure was most prominent during warmer weather and became increasingly persistent over time, causing the contact to conclude that the failure was due to the extreme heat this summer. The contact opted to stop driving the vehicle due to the persistent failure. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V209000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) and believed that it may be related to the symptoms his vehicle was experiencing. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer nor an independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and it was confirmed that neither the vehicle’s model year nor the VIN was included in the recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 9,000.

The horn had to be replaced Sept. 22, 2023 because it wasn't working. The horn had to be replaced again Nov. 9, 2023 because it was not working. This is a safety hazard since, without a horn, the driver cannot alert others in case of a problem with this car or get the attention of other drivers who are inattentive and may cause an accident. The second time the dealer replaced the horn, the service representative stated the problem was that the assembly got wet and the new unit had to be re-mounted in a better position. There was no light or indicator that the horn had failed. I only noticed it when locking the car with the fob because it usually beeps if I press the "lock" button twice. If I hadn't noticed that, I would have been surprised and potentially involved in an accident if unable to alert other drivers of a problem.

The incident happened on November 1, 2023, and the complaint is on a 2019 Ford Fiesta with approximately 22,700 miles and still covered under the power train warranty. A family member and I were driving and I started to feel nauseous, and had difficulty thinking clearly. This improved once exiting the vehicle. My family member experienced the same symptoms of nausea and difficulty thinking when driving, and additionally had a headache. This was improved by rolling down the windows. The vehicle was taken to Pearson Ford in Zionsville, Indiana and was found to have a cracked exhaust manifold with exhaust fumes leaking into the cabin. This was deemed a premature part failure of the exhaust manifold, as there was no damage done to the vehicle and the vehicle having low miles, approximately 22,700. The dealer agreed to replace the exhaust manifold under warranty, but had to order the part. Repair is still pending.

The transmission on this vehicle has several issues. It is available for inspection. 1. The transmission gets stuck in park. The dealership was able to reproduce. They replaced shifter mechanism, but issue returned several days later. The only way to prevent this was to disengage the brake lockout, which is a safety issue. 2. The transmission occasionally does not detect that it is in park when turning the car on as displayed on the cluster. This prevents ignition. Some combination of rocking the car or shifting out of park and back into park generally corrects this, but this is a stranding safety issue. 3. Occasionally the transmission will not shift into reverse. Shifting into and out of park and restarting the engine several times generally fixes this, but can be a safety issue when trying to park or make a multi-point turn as it can leave the car blocking traffic. There are no malfunction lights associated with any of these issues.

No warning lamps. Sealed transmission. Transmission stalls as u round a corner, or first take off, and when u come to Complete stop the transmission will jerk or stall with a jerk. It's dangerous because the cars behind me almost rearend me thinking I'm gonna be taking off after I let off the brake and the transmission just sits still. Doesn't even rev up and to get it to rev up to go you have to just about floor the gas pedal and it rares up to about 4rpm before it finally starts taking off. Took to Lucas Oil and they said the transmission is reading fine. But it does it all the time, about each driver go on and has a high rom alot of times before it will shift.

Catastrophic Engine Failure due to the manufacturer's recommendation and use of conventional motor oils in the form of Synthetic Blend Motor Oil or Super Premium Motor Oil, a specification WSS-M2C945-B1 , from the 2019 Ford Fiesta Owner Manual. It leaves the driver and occupants stranded in the middle of the road with an inoperable vehicle. Being a small 4 cylinder engine the engine is high revving and produces sludge. Whereas if the manufacturer recommended Full Synthetic oil as the car parts store do as part of the oils usable for that specific model. There would have been no engine failure as occurred with my vehicle on 11/22/2022. No sludge would form in the engine. Because synthetic oil is proven not produce any sludge in an engine. I believe a recall should result in the manufacturer recommending full synthetic in the owner manual and engine oil be replaced by dealer service to full synthetic as well as engine work be done due to damage from conventional oil.

In SEP-2021, the engine overheating warning light came on. We stopped the car and realized that the coolant level in the overflow reservoir was very low. There was no obvious leak on the ground or on the engine. We purchased coolant and topped off the coolant reservoir to the appropriate level. A couple of weeks later, we noticed again that the coolant level had gone down significantly while there was no sign of coolant whatsoever on the floor of the garage. We dropped off the car at our local Ford dealer on 20-OCT-2022 for a diagnosis. On OCT-22, the service department confirmed that the engine had overheated and that the head gasket had blown and informed us they would contact Ford to discuss the repair. Further feedback from the dealership was that they would need to tear down the engine at Ford's request for further investigation. We received a loaner vehicle from the dealership on 29-OCT-2022. Fast forward to FEB-2022 and the dealer confirmed that they had found no external leaks and the diagnosis had revealed codes P1299 and P0303. Further testing revealed coolant found in cylinder # 3 so the coolant was found to be leaking inside the engine. Engine block was found to be cracked. They also confirmed that Ford Motor Co. had agreed to replace the engine under warranty. The repaired vehicle was finally returned to us on ... 20-JUN-2022, 8 months after it was dropped off at the dealership.

The CAR has the defect that it skips the transmission changes, from the first to the second it stays accelerated, it resists the change, it is a danger it stays accelerated until it finally goes to second and lowers the revolutions. I visited an auto parts store for a scanner and that was the code: Transmission friction PO7A3x2. Here I send you some news, ford, ford defects on your focus and fiesta vehicles. http://www.fordtransmissionproblems.com/fords-transmission-problem Ford's PowerShift dual-clutch transmission was used in 2010. Affected vehicles are the Ford Fiesta (model years 2011-2016) and Ford Focus (model years 2012-2016) equipped with a PowerShift transmission. The PowerShift transmission is basically a manual transmission electronically controlled by a computer while using a 'dry clutch' rather than a 'wet clutch', which means that no oil is supplied to the shift mechanism and can result in increased wear to as problems persist. When the computer module used to operate the transmission cannot handle rapid acceleration or gear changes, the vehicle sputters and creates an audible noise. The vehicle may also experience downshifting issues, which means the vehicle will stay in a higher gear despite deceleration and jerk will result. However, this is not just a matter of convenience or comfort. When accelerating quickly through an intersection, the delay can be dangerous as it prevents the vehicle from reaching the same speed as it would with an automatic transmission
