Defect. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES. THESE VEHICLES WERE BUILT WITH AN INCORRECT LABELING ON THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CONSOLE.

Risk. THE IMPROPER LABELING COULD CAUSE A DRIVER TO PARK THE VEHICLE WITHOUT APPLYING THE PARKING BRAKE, WHICH COULD ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO ROLL AWAY AND CAUSE A CRASH OR INJURY.

Remedy. DEALERS WILL RELABEL THE VEHICLE CONSOLE AND PLACE A STICKER ON THE CONSOLE WARNING OF THE NEED TO USE THE PARKING BRAKE. AN OWNER'S MANUAL SUPPLEMENT WILL ALSO BE PROVIDED EXPLAINING THE NEED TO USE THE PARKING BRAKE. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MARCH 21, 2001. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT EUROPA AT 1-888-538-7672.

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A USED 1992 BMW 325IS NOT EVEN A WEEK OLD FROM THE LOT, I DECIDE TO BRING IT TO A CAR WASH IN ELIZABETH NJ IT COMES OUT NICE AND SHINEY BUT NOW IT DOESN'T START I BRING IT TO A MECHANIC WHERE TIL THIS DAY STILL IS BECAUSE I HAVE A 2000.00 BILL WHICH WAS NOT CAUSED BY ME IN ANYWAY. MY MECHANIC SAYS ON MY CAR THE COMPUTER GOT WET DEW TO NO LAMINATED SHIELDING CAUSING THE COMPUTER TO SHORT ALSO SAYS WHEN HE CONTACTED A BMW DEALER THEY WERE FAMILIAR WITH THE SITUATION AND SAID YES THIS HAPPENS YOU NEED A NEW COMPUTER WHICH WE HAVE WITH SHIELDING FOR 1200.00 PLUS WE HAVE TO PROGRAM IT COMING TO A GRAND TOTAL OF 2000.00 PLEASE HELP ME I'M IN LOVE WITH THIS CAR I HAVE 6 MONTHS OF CAR PAYMENTS BUT THIS BILL IS RIDICULOUS THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
