Engine and Engine Cooling › Engine15V316000
Filed May 27, 2015599 vehiclesEldorado National- California, Inc.

Defect. Eldorado National-California, Inc. (Eldorado) is recalling certain model year 2007-2015 Axess, E-Z Rider II, and XHF vehicles manufactured July 1, 2007, to May 2, 2015, and equipped with certain Cummins Westport ISL G engines. Excessive engine crankcase pressures may cause the 90-degree elbow of the vent tube assembly to detach from the crankcase ventilation breather, possibly allowing engine oil to come into contact with hot surfaces.

Risk. If engine oil comes into contact with a hot surface, there is an increased risk of a fire.

Remedy. Cummins has notified owners on behalf of Eldorado, and Cummins service centers will administer the repairs which include securing the ends of the 90-degree elbow and reprogramming the electronic control module (ECM) with software that can adjust the engine output under misfire conditions to limit crankcase pressures. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on June 16, 2015. Owners may contact Eldorado customer service at 1-909-591-9557 or Cummins customer service at 1-800-343-7357.

Defect. ElDorado National-California, Inc. (ElDorado) is recalling certain model year 2014 ElDorado National E-Z Rider II and ElDorado National California Axess buses manufactured January 2, 2014, to December 31, 2014. The affected buses have front axles whose tie rod nuts may be improperly torqued.

Risk. If the tie rod nuts are not properly torqued, the tie rod may not be adequately secured, resulting in a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. ElDorado will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the tie rod nut torque and replace the parts, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on April 2, 2015. Owners may contact Eldorado customer service at 1-909-591-9557.

Reading this record

No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
