Transmission control module failed. Gear shifts into neutral when driving and shuts car off. Gear position sensor bad causing gear to shift while driving.

Shift Cable Snapped and could not shift the car out of reverse. I thought the car was in park and it started rolling. I had to use the Emergency brake to keep it in place and not roll into the road. The car was towed to a dealer and repaired. I am unaware if the component was inspected by the manufacturer but was not inspected by police or insurance. There were no warnings of the failure before it happened. There was a 2019 recall for the shifter cable bushing that was repaired/replaced in 2019.

Clutch pedal would not return after being depressed. It stayed near the floor. I could not change gears or return to neutral.

Smart drive unit/transmission

I was parked. When I turn my car on to put it in drive the shift moved but the car manually stayed in park. I had to continuously turn it on and off to get it in drive.

While driving the car in the 3rd day of having it, the reverse safety release pin malfunctions and they car would slip into reverse while trying to down shift to stop. Also it would go into reverse instead of first while trying to go from a stop. I have the car back to carmax and notified them.

As a I was driving to pick up my friends to go out ,I was approaching a red light,I started to slow down but I was still about half a mile fro mt he light so I hit the gas a little bit.when I hit the gas the car jerked very hard and then did not accelerate at all .all the lights remained on,I did not hear any strange noises .previous to this happening ,I had put in new spark plugs as I noticed the old ones were covered in oil but unsure why as I’m not a mechanic . Anyways as the car was not accelerating,I tried pulling to the side of the road with the car not accelerating whatsoever ,it finally kept rolling until I had came to a complete stop on the side of the road .when it came to a stop I tried Turning on and off ,I checked the battery ,for any leaks and saw nothing ,I had some people try to jump the car or see if they noticed anything but couldn’t see anything unusual . When I got it home diagnosed by a mechanic company ,Al they said is the timing chain may have broke and maybe a piston got hit/bent. But it doesn’t makes sense at to why it wouldn’t accelerate compared to at least jerking if that was the case .about a year later of it sitting ,I finally decided to take it somewhere else as it could not be driven and it’s still being financed ,and got it checked out .this mechanic was able to look around and said a piece called an actuator had fell into the engine as I was driving ,which caused the piece to continue getting crushed between my whole engine and caused it to s

My rear facing camera has begun to malfunction. Sometimes it does not work at all and sometimes the image comes through upside down. I am told it will many dollars to determine if its the camera or its connection to my radio. In either event, the fix is said to cost over one thousand dollars.

Transmission shifts rough. Dealership replaced transmission but it has been doing the thing since day one when they replaced it. Motor bogs down when turning. Passenger seat belt flashes and dings even though the belt is clicked. Hands free system longer works. Airbags light is always on. Back up camera is flipped upside down and is a backing hazard. Odometer is flashing as well. Tire pressure sensors will show that there is no air in the tires after driving about 45 mins. It asks if there has been and crashes, I have not but it could happen. you never know when the car isn't going to respond.

The rear backup camera turns off or doesn't function while in reverse frequently.

Car stops moving as you are driving it. Took it to multiple mechanics including Dodge dealership. Dodge stated they see this often with Darts. Engine light and service transmission is on screen after it stops moving (rpm revs but no movement). Been ongoing since august 2018. Sending photos of some of the beginning incidents to not overwhelm.

My 2013 SXT 2.0 started to have the right front TPMS sensor stop working a few weeks back after driving the car for about 30 minutes. I assumed the issue was with the sensor itself as the car is 9 years old now and thought the sensor battery may be getting weak. Had the sensor replaced and others checked, and we were back to normal for a few weeks. Then the right front again dropped out after driving for 30-40 minutes. Checked the sensor again, and it is putting out the signal OK per the tire store, so we went on our way. So here is what is happening now. The car acts like it resets itself overnight and all the sensors behave in a normal fashion after first starting a drive. But they start to drop out beginning with right front consistently after about 30-40 minutes of driving. Then sometimes the left front goes out soon after followed by the left rear. The other thing I have noticed is the range on the fob for locking / unlocking gets really short during this same time of driving the car for a while. Fob batteries are all new. Car sits overnight for a day and things seem to be normal first thing again. Have been told this is a real common issue of late with the Darts and the RFHM (Radio Frequency Hub Module) is typically the culprit. This hub failure can also lead to other electronic issues such as dash lights / wipers / door locks / etc failing or working intermittently. Apparently to replace this module, it is expensive and can involve new keys as well.

I just bought this car last month, from my knowledge it has not been repaired, this is my first time buying a car or I would have never purchased it, one month after getting the car I finally receive a history report and I find out I have 6 recalls, have been having so many issue with this car since the week I purchased it, the speedometer does not work in heat and apparently the blower motor to the a/c as well huge inconvenience buying in the summer, the recalls state I have issue to look forward to in the winter as well. My parking brake does not work and I notice that the car rolls slightly in park, I have to press down hard on the gas just to pull out of my parking space in the morning it does not shift into reverse properly and I have been told by many people my brakes are bad despite them being changed recently and another recall says it’s a brake pad issue, I cannot test the other recalls because I am not a mechanic and I have not gotten into an accident but I would like to know if my airbags work and why my engine is having problems despite paying to get it fixed and still having issues

Wipers will not turn off. turn signals are working along with lights except the wipers.

I recently purchased a 2013 dodge dart sxt and not even 6 months later while driving this vehicle I noticed there was a loss of pressure with my clutch pedal when shifting gears. It initially seemed to return to normal and work fine at times but very quickly declined. At first I'd have some pressure in the clutch but that quickly went to having none whatsoever and the clutch not coming up from the floor. This happened while I was driving and just to get my vehicle home I had to get up to around 2500 rpm to shift. The clutch stays engaged so to stop the vehicle at a light for example you have to quickly shift to neutral or shut the car off. To begin driving again it has to be in gear but it moves right away so you are not able to have vehicle in gear while at idle. It's very dangerous and while looking into what the potential causes might be I noticed that this is a very common problem with these make and model cars especially between the years 2013-2015. I saw one article stating there recently was a recall for these exact issues with these vehicles but when attempting to look up my Vin it doesn't show anything?

Apparently common master slave cylinder issue. Clutch pedal gave out and car won't go into gear.

I took my car in for the last recall and now my car wont shift into gear. The gear shifter moves but does not connect to my car to get it to start going. Ive called the dealership and they wont even call me back. My car won't even move. This is a huge hazard!!!

This car was 'repaired' due to the recall of the shifter bushing. The repair was completed about two years ago and the replacement part has already failed, causing the car to be undrivable. The original bushing did not exhibit any failure. I believe I am still due a repair that will fix the problem. This car has less than 50000 miles on it and every recall repair has made the car worse.

Our 2013 Dodge Dart Turbo had the actuator-hydraulic shift in the transmission go out and was replaced on October 27th 2020. Now the hydraulic pump dual disk clutch for the or in the transmission is going out and the part is unavailable...

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated that while attempting to drive the vehicle, the vehicle failed to shift out of PARK. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the shifter cable bushing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V293000 (Power Train). The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

My 2013 Dodge dart rallye turbo 1.4l . Started to lose power in the cold weather. It then stalls out while I was waiting at a red light. I got it started it ran fine. I got to a friend's house. visited for a while. got out to the car it wouldn't start. I jump-started it. To get home. And it was run slow and sluggish. The next day I went out there. and it just clicked. bought a brand new battery thinking it was that. it won't start check the fuses. All was working even relays starter solenoid and alternator also tested good. All cables and ground wires where in good condition tested and cleaned. Belt was like new and turned freely. Check engine light did flash when first tried to start 10 times then when off. But no error code was held. This has only happened one there time. And it was when I didn't have it in my garage at night. Last week and we got a bad winter storm. I didn't know. That I can't drive this car in Michigan. In the winter. Because it almost got me hit. When out at a green light. Because it was cold. If I would of known this I would of never got this car. And know it won't even. Start because I left outside of the garage for the second time in the hole time I own it.

Driving home on the freeway from work, service transmission caution light illuminated and simultaneously the car shifted into neutral. Unable to provide power now to vehicle, had to coast on freeway in traffic and rain to the shoulder of the freeway (about 2 miles until a shoulder was available to pull over to). Once I stopped the vehicle, was unable to shift into any gear. Had to wait for tow truck to take Dodge Dart to nearest dealership. Dealership diagnosed vehicle with a broken transmission cable, which got repaired, and was picked up from dealership on Dec 23. Vehicle was not driven again until Dec 26, at which time another service transmission light came on, shifting car out of gear. Vehicle was only able to shift into 1st gear, occurring on a busy road with no safe place to pull over. Vehicle towed to second dodge dealership for diagnostics where we were informed the problem is with a hydraulic actuator on the transmission and would cost $4200. We had just spent $720 on the transmission shift cable at the first dealership. When we called first dealership, we were informed there was no transmission code that came on and a test drive was not performed after servicing. Vehicle had been serviced twice for transmission recalls that also involved the shifting into neutral while driving. Shifting into neutral while driving is the problem that occurred on 12/18/2021.

In 2013 I bought a new Dodge Dart Limited from a Dodge dealer. I bought the car in March and by October when it got cooler outside, it was evident there were some electrical issues related to the Uconnect screen blanking out and dash lights flickering while driving or when ABS engaged, and engine and battery lights on. The whole car seemed like it was resetting as everything electrical flickered and turned off and then on again. I took the car back to the dealership while it was under warranty at least 3 times to no avail. It would sometimes come back on after turning the car off for a period of time but then it turned off and stayed off for days. The Dodge mechanics claimed they could not get the problem to come up for them at all during yearly visits from 2014-2018. I researched the internet for solutions and disconnecting and reconnecting the battery seemed to fix it so that became a temporary resolution. After a while it became much more consistent and the battery trick didn't always work anymore. So I went to a second Dodge dealership in 2019 when my car was at the end of it's warranty and they did see the issue occur and decided to replace the screen all together. That next winter the problem came back so I went back to the dealership and this time they replaced the body control module. It's the next winter and the center console is completely out so I cannot control hazard lights, the turn signals don't make noise, backup camera is out, seat controls don't work, rear d

First is the cruise control - it sometimes work, sometimes does not. But when it does, it will at times kick on and off while in use. Scary at times. The next is the loss of power on the freeway. there are times when it will just bog down and not accelerate. other times it will catch and shift hard, other times will jerk. when these times occur, the check engine light comes on. But then will go off after a period of minutes.

While pressing down on the brake , it became very hard to fully pushed down . Makes a noise that sounds like air is being pushed through while the brake is being pressed down . Delayed stops due to it being so hard to press the brake down . Brake light comes on along with “Service Electric Braking System” on dashboard .

Car constantly stalls while driving and goes into neutral while driving as well. Recently, I was meeting up with my husband and I came to a red light and my car wouldn’t stop. My car finally stopped in time thank God; but when I went on to continue driving the car would not move or shift into other gears. Police came and car got towed, huge safety concern!

I was backing out of the driveway to go to work and my car suddenly stopped. All the lights on the shifter had turned red and moving the shifter did nothing. I restarted the car and everything worked normally but I am concerned about my car doing it again while driving on a busy road and put mine and other drivers safety in jeopardy. The car is available for inspection at any time. There were no other inspections or warning signs of this happening.

Car suddenly shuts off

A recall on the shifter cable bushing was said to be completed on 01/15/20 at Shelor Motor Mile, Christiansburg, VA. On 08/21/21, the bushing broke and came off the shifter cable, leaving the car stuck in gear. In between the time of the alleged recall repair and this happening (~18 months), my car was driven from 40,000 to 60,000 miles. I believe the dealer dishonestly said they fixed the recall to pocket money and banking it wouldn’t fail in my car. This was a safety issue to me and could have been much worse. A recalled part that was fixed should not have failed less than 2 years and 20,000 miles later. I am now left to fix the repairs on my own. This dealer should be investigated to ensure others are getting their recalls properly taken care of so it is not a threat to their life/property.

The incident that occurred involved my clutch and transmission. I had purchased the car (8/17/2021)about 2 weeks before complete failure. Everything was going fine until I entered the freeway (8/26/2021)and after driving around 5 miles in 6th gear doing about 65 with no initial issues, I started to smell something burning. I immediately looked for the safest way to get out of traffic. While slowing, gears weren’t shifting and I was basically stuck in neutral. I only had control of brakes and steering wheel which caused me to have to make extremely dangerous evasive maneuvers. Once safe, I was able to find the source of the smoke. Which turned out to be dot 3 from where, what I think is the slave cylinder connects to the top of the transmission. I was able to remove it to check for damage/defection. It was dripping dot 3 and I didn’t see any noticeable defects. Plugged it back. Tried to drive and the clutch engages to start vehicle/change gears. But gears were able to change without clutch as well. Yet i couldn’t get out of neutral. Towed it home, next day clutch pedal was on the floor with no pressure. All components are available for inspection upon request, the safety of everyone involved was put at risk due to me not having any control of anything but the brakes and steering; with no warning or idea of what could be wrong due to the instantaneous nature of the disastrous incident. I have had repeated transmission problems with my 2013 Dodge Dart. The first time it went out was at 14k miles then again at 16k. Even after fixing it, it would downshift very violently at times. At 85k it went out again with no warning in the middle of a five lane highway. It took several times of the dealer trying to repair it for them to get it to drive without it just going into neutral and not move. The transmission worked but there was still a jerking when it downshifted. The shifter went out at 136K. They ended up replacing the whole shifting mechanism to make it work. Several times in the last four years it would go into neutral while driving and would rev up really high. I would ask at the dealership and they would say they couldn’t find anything. At 172K the transmission just stopped working and it says “gear not found”. The dealership says that the repairs are now more than the car is worth. So frustrating!

The seat belt warning light will continue to beep and flash when someone is in the seat and has the seatbelt on, also my car is unable to be parked for more than one day without starting it or it drains the battery and then has to be jump started with another car for it to run again and then the battery has to be replaced this seems like a serious defect the car should be able to sit for at least a couple days and be fine and this is during regular temperature times also so it's very strange it definitely seems like electrical issues.

Car in park with emergency brake on abs will not turn off. Says vehicle not in park. Took several times shifting back and forth to get the car to turn off.

Automatic shifter cable bushing failed causing me to be stuck in a parking lot in park (P) and not shift gears. gear shift moved but did not actually shift leaving me stuck. bushing under hood connected to trans when first investigated by myself, was in fact connected just fine with no issues to be seen. issued was identified to be the bushing failing under the actual gear shifter itself after the dealership tore my car apart. the tech manually put my car in drive so I could drive it to the dealership to have them fully diagnose the problem and just that is &100. dodge dealership tells me that the recall was completed in may of 2020 on only the bushing connecting to the transmission under the hood. dealership wants $620 to replace the full cable and bushings because the bushing under gear shifter was not replaceable nor does it pertain to the end under the hood end. I was told by the dealership the only fix is to have the entire cable was replaced which is ridiculous knowing there has been a recall on this same issue but now its the bushing at the shifter. I am very lucky to be parked and not moving. absolutely no known warning lights/messages/symptoms to be known this would happen.if there is a recall on one end of the bushing why is there no recall on the opposite end of cable connected to the gear shifter?

I bought my 2013 Dodge Dart (I bought it used and out of warranty-it is now a little over 100,000 miles). My girlfriend was driving it down a four lane highway when all of a sudden the car came to a complete stop, it wouldn’t go into drive, reverse or parks, my girlfriend had to push the car off of a four lane highway and out of the way of oncoming traffic. The accelerator would not work, and it said "service transmission". I looked it up and it's a recall issue (recall R42) for Dodge Darts made between 2013 and 2015 Darts with a 1.4l engine and a dry dial clutch transmission (I have this model). I got it to a local dealership (who said the recall was fixed in august 2016) and they've had it for almost a week and called today and said there are no issues with the transmission and that it's driving fine that the only issue they see would be the spark plugs. (Spark plugs wouldn't cause all of that). This is a safety issue that could’ve caused an accident, my family was in the car and had they crashed and my family got hurt Stellantis/Chrysler wouldn’t hold any accountability. The recall customer service center claims it is their policy that after a recall there is a two year warranty and that I had passed that two year mark, regardless of the same parts malfunctioning from the previous recall I would be responsible to pay for the transmission control module being replaced. I have a 2013 Dodge Dart that's been having issues since i got the car. First my transmission goes out, get a new one 02/21 then 7/21 service transmission. Take my car to the shop the TCM needs to be replace. My car would start and move than all of sudden i can't move Auto Stick unavailable shift to N then D then my car is stuck. I can't move only can drift. This is crazy I see that the Dodge Dart has 6 recall and i only received recall postcard for bushel cords? My car is having the same problems the recall was inplace for but my car doesn't qualify? My life don't matter huh? The car doesn't have many miles on the car, i service my car (oil changes, tires rotated and replace) I just don't understand. Someone is going to get hurt driving these Dodge Darts.

The failure was when i was shifting gear .so i shifted 5 to 4,3,2 and thats when it stayed in 2 gear .i exit the freeway and drove the street to my home .the vechicle at that point only travel 21 mph .2 years prior i had a similar issue on the freeway and my kids where with me at the time of the failure. So i had to pull to the shoulder and try to encounter the issue at a peaceful way .like i said i had my kids with me and 9:45 p.m. .so i tooked me 2 hours to move the vehicle to a safer place and had my friend give me a ride home .next day i have the tow truck picked up the vehicle and take it to dodge dealer .they fixed it with no charge towards me .but now this second time they are not trying to help out .either Toyota who sold the car .or dodge the dealer.or Chrysler the manufacturer wont help.and dodge is saying the vehicle requires a new motor at the cost of $13,000 dollars.

The windshield wipers do not turn off no matter what . Nothing was wrong with them before . It started all a sudden when I would signal. Then then they stayed on. I have read many others Dodge Dart owners have the same issue. . I have seen there is a recall for the 2016 but not the 2013 that has the same issues.

On June 16, 2021 I exited a parking lot and joined a line of traffic that was stopped for a stoplight. Traffic began to move and as I stepped on the accelerator the engine started ROARING and the car accelerated uncontrollably across the opposite lane and into a utility pole. It was totaled and I was left badly bruised by the airbag explosion; I have also found I have strange noises in my ears and am seeing an otolaryngologist for that. The car has ben disposed of and I don't know where it is. I am fortunate that there was no oncoming traffic, no one was on the sidewalk and I was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The only one who may have inspected the car was the insurance adjuster. There was no warning of any kind and I had never experienced this before.

I was trying to use the windshield washer while driving home and the wipers turned on but no fluid came out. I assumed I was out of fluid and tried to turn the wipers off to find they stayed on while when I put them in the off position. I tried to change the speed of the wipers and they just stayed in the normal on speed no matter what setting I set them at including off. So for the next 40 miles I drove into the sun on a 90 degree day with the wipers on. There were no warning lights or anything. I took it to the repair shop and they assessed that it was the wiper functions on the multifunction switch malfunctioned, even though the turn signal and headlight functions remained intact, and the switch needed to be replaced, a part that costs $497.66. I decided against the repair at the time and they disconnected the wiper motor for me so the wipers were not continuously on and potentially ruining the windshield, although leaving me completely blind if it were to start to rain. I have since traded in the vehicle for another one so I can't offer it up for inspection but I can get you my records.

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Dart. The contact stated the vehicle was shifted into park and the turned off however, the key remained stuck in the ignition. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times causing the battery to be drained. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ignition switch was not making good contact and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

06/08/2021. My daughter stopped to gas up at Costco when a notice came up on the dash "Engage Parking Brake to prevent Rollback". She immediately called me to make me aware of it. Once home she again get this message. 06/09/2021. My daughter drove to school with no issues. However, leaving school she was going slowly over a speed bump when the car automatically shifted into PARK. She lost acceleration and the car rolled backwards off of the speed bump while she was wrestling with controlling the steering. The car shuts off and she was unable to start it again. She immediately called me and told me the message displayed again from yesterday "Engage Parking Brake to prevent Rollback". Now the car won't start. I am now on my way to the school when she calls me back to say it started and she is on her way home. I told her to be very careful. 06/10/2021. I drove the car while my daughter followed me to the dealership. On the way to the dealership at every stop the message displayed "Engage Parking Brake to prevent Rollback". While at the dealership I explained the problem and I had brought all repair documents that stated the same issue occurred in a repair with my son (twice), with me, and now with my daughter. It all stem from gear shift cable/bushings/TCM/transmission, which then was covered under warranty or recall. I emphatically didn't want to waste time with a diagnostic when I am sure its related to past repairs. The service tech was trying to convince me it could be somet

Failure in The transmission control module (tcm) causing the car to shift to neutral when driving and also not letting the car shift to any other gear past 2nd my safety and others are at risk because I can be rear ended due to it randomly going into neutral it has been confirmed by many mechanics and there are warning lights such as the check engine light confirming it

FCA has issued Customer Satisfaction Notification (W20) regarding excessive oil consumption for vehicles equipped with the 2.4L MultiAir engine. It does not currently cover the 2013 model year Dodge Dart. I have a 2013 Dodge Dart that seems to have this problem. I have to continuously monitor the engine oil level and add as needed. The amount is inconsistent and you will never know if the level will fall low enough to stall the engine between the times that the level is checked. My complaint is that FCA should expand the notification to include all model years that are equipped with this engine. Attached is a copy of the W20 I received for my 2014 Dart which does not have the problem. I bought the 2013 without knowing it had this problem.

Despite saying there are no open recalls on my vehicle it does seem to malfunction the same as the last recall. The vehical got stuck in drive last week and had to use the emergency brake to keep it from rolling. After having it towed (friday) to my dealership and manual override to put it in park, it acted normal. The car was looked at the following morning and they could not get it to malfunction. I picked it Monday because I have a warranty that will cover it but they can't do anything unless it is acting up. Today I went to go to tue store and it is stuck in park. I just want to make sure that if any cars were missed in the last recall it can be addressed. Or if it is one of the included vehicles, figure out if it was actually repaired.

WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON ONE DAY AFTER USING THE TURN SIGNAL AND HAVE NOT SHUT OFF. MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH HAS BEEN REPLACED AND ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED. CURRENTLY THE WIPER MOTOR IS DISCONNECTED TO PREVENT WIPERS FROM RUNNING CONTINUOUSLY. DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS TOLD ME THERE IS NO RECALL AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. DEALERSHIP WANTS MONEY TO RUN DIAGNOSTIC AND THEN MORE MONEY FOR LABOR TO FIX THE ISSUE THEY FIND. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR DISTRACTION AND VISIBILITY FOR THE DRIVER.
