Defect. ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES BUILT ON PREVOST CHASSIS AND EQUIPPED WITH SLIDE-OUT ROOMS, THE MICROPROCESSOR THAT CONTROLS THE SLIDE-OUT OPERATION GENERATES A FALSE SITUATION WHICH TELLS THE SLIDE-OUT MECHANISM TO OPERATE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, A SECTION OF THE MOTOR HOME EXTENDS OUT BY UP TO 30 INCHES.

Risk. THIS CAN OCCUR WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy. DEALERS WILL ADD AN EXTERNAL PROTECTION CONTROLLED BY A MANUAL COMMAND. IN ADDITION, AN INSTRUCTION DESCRIBING HOW TO DEACTIVATE THE SLIDE-OUT MOTOR WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS. THIS WILL ELIMINATE THE RISK BEFORE THE REMEDY IS PERFORMED. PREVOST IS HANDLING THE OWNER NOTIFICATION AND REMEDY FOR THIS CAMPAIGN. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT PREVOST AT 1-418-831-5432 OR COUNTRY COACH AT 1-800-547-8015.

Reading this record

No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
