Transmission doesn’t seem to shift right sometimes. Lurches forward, rpm’s go high and seems like it slams back into gear
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 equipped with BFGoodrich Tires, Tire Line: KO3, Tire size: 275/65/R20, DOT Number: (N/A). The contact stated while driving at 55 MPH, the upper arm failed, and the tire detached from the vehicle. The contact stated he pulled over to the left side of the road and replaced the tire. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed but the cause was unknown. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
The dashboard fails and stops working, the shift to park wont engage and the key is not working to start the car. I have reported it to the dealer and to GM and they refuse to acknowledge the issue. The Feldman service person says it will eventually be a recall and will not help until then. They wont even let me pay to have it fixed they wont acknowledge it at all.
Shift tranny to park not working properly.
Only 2 years old and engine blown up. Chevy mechanic said that the cylinder walls could be scared. He said that could be where the metal shavings are coming from
Sudden hard downshift from 10th gear to 5th great. Check engine light came on with message of reduced acceleration mode.
I have already file for the transmission know my center task is freeze up me and not work some time for hours, know this week the rear end have start make noise it start happen around about 40 mile and hour on and off alway up 80. This is a everyday thing.
Driving to work on the highway at speeds up to 70 MPH. engine started misfire and several lights came on. only way to keep moving was to push accelator to floor until i was able to reach a place to stop. took to dealer and they replaced one lifter spring under warranty. engine only had 46,000 miles. engine is 6.2l v8
I have personally been experiencing a terrible cold start in the mornings. I have a 8 speed transmission with the 2.7 L engine. There is a recall on other Silverado and sierras with a (broken reaction carrier ring). I am having issues like, not engaging into drive from park for 20 seconds, once engaging-it will have hard pauses and shifts, yesterday I turned left crossing traffic with my kids in the truck and it stalled before shifting into second. I have been having these issues since about 15k and they’re progressively getting worse. The dealership keeps telling me it’s a normal for an 8 speed transmission. When doing research gmc did a recall for exactly the issues I’m having, however it only included 96 vehicles sierra and silverados. Which is customer satisfaction program N212328090 8 speed reaction Carrier Failure. I would love to chat about it over the phone if more information is needed. I am very unsatisfied with Chevrolets resolution to saying it is normal. It is definitely not normal. I am submitting a complaint regarding recurring transmission issues with my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado (VIN: [XXX] ). These problems have compromised my safety and that of others on the road. Multiple repair attempts and discussions with GM have not resolved the issue. Incident Details: On [XXX], around 9 a.m., I experienced a severe transmission malfunction documented on dash cam. When I shifted out of park, the vehicle lunged forward, forcing me to brake suddenly, despite not applying gas. Minutes later, on an exit ramp, the transmission downshifted without throttle input, causing the rear end to fishtail as it attempted to throttle out and sounded stuck in neutral. Repair History: This issue has led to repeated repairs in January, February, and April of 2023 and 2024, as well as September 2023 and 2024. Despite these efforts, GM released a technical service bulletin classifying this transmission behavior as “normal” and has refused further repairs. Safety Impact: These unpredictable shifts and lack of responsiveness have created hazardous situations. Lunging, uncommanded downshifting, and rear fishtailing make it difficult to maintain control, especially in high-traffic areas. Request for NHTSA Investigation: Given these safety concerns, I urge NHTSA to investigate whether this defect affects other vehicles of this make and model year. An investigation may prevent future incidents and prompt GM to address this dangerous issue. Additional documentation, including dash cam foo
When cold it hard shift when move forward and also to next gear. It hard shift between first and second each time i stop for the next 10 to 20 mile this is everyday thing for the last 5 month

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was currently being repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Vehicle emergency/parking brake actuators failed which could allow the vehicle to roll-away unexpectedly or render this safety braking system inoperable in time of emergency. There is a TSB number PIT 5662G, dated March 25, 2022 that covers testing to confirm defective actuators. This is a known defect to Chevrolet and as it impacts a vehicle operating safety system should be subject to a recall.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the tailgate unlocked unintendedly without driver or passenger input. There were no warning lights illuminated. The dealer was contacted and notified of the failure. The dealer informed the contact that the VIN was not included under recall. The contact was referred to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 32,000.
While driving at highway speeds, the vehicle has spontaneously locked up the front brakes/wheels three separate times. All three times have been at 55- 65mph and have completely locked up the front brakes leaving tire marks on the pavement. No Automated Braking System engaged, just full lock up. No warning lights or OBD codes and the dealer mechanics can find nothing wrong.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the tailgate would occasionally raise and lower independently even though the tailgate switch was not depressed. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that upon further investigation, the contact related the failure to an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not included. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
Transmission will not shift to park from drive or reverse on first attempt. It takes several attempts to put vehicle into park after it has been stopped.
As I was exiting a highway offramp after about (4) hours of driving, the Infotainment radio went to full volume as I was listening to music either on Spotify (through Apple Car Play) or Sirius XM, I can't remember. It startled me to the point I almost rear-ended the car in front of me. As fast as I was trying to turn the volume down with the steering wheel controls, it went right up to 100% faster. The mute button on the dash did not work, I finally was able to hit the pause button on the app., and eventually fiddled with the infotainment system until the volume controls returned to normal.
On more than one occasion, the vehicle jolted forward when going to accelerate from being stopped at a red light. It felt like the vehicle was rear ended by a vehicle behind (it was not) to give some perspective. The last time it happened, the engine shut down but the dash stayed on, and the dash would not turn off, nor would the engine restart. The Chevrolet dealership which it was towed to is stating that the wires from the engine wire harness are chaffing and that the entire engine wire harness needs to be replaced. Additionally, there is a service bulletin posted by GM indicating that the proper repair for this is to replace the engine wire harness and add additional protection, which is a clear indication of faulty engineering to begin with.
Transmission valve cover and yes available for inspection. It wouldn’t shift gears causing me to drive only 10mph. It has been reproduced. Not inspected and the check engine light came on when the vehicle started to shudder.
I purchased this car on 7/15/24 and had no problems until 8/8/24 after I took my car through an automatic touchless car wash. Upon exiting the car wash, I noticed that the tailgate was now down even though I never unlocked it. I parked the car and closed the tailgate and began driving home. Halfway home, the tailgate opened again on its on. The bed was empty so I continued driving home and then closed it again. Later that night, I went out to take the garbage cans out to the street and again noticed the tailgate was down. I again closed it. The next morning, I went to go to work and the tailgate was again down. This would be a serious safety issue if I had items in the bed of my truck and the tailgate opened while driving. I searched this issue online and found that there are recalls for this exact issue in other trims of this truck but the recalls don't cover my trim. I took it to the dealer where I purchased it and they are looking into fixing it. I want you to know that this is an issue as well for this trim.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back in again and the local dealer diagnosed a failure related to the radiator. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000.
Hello, I was driving on the highway and all of a sudden the engine made a noise then the dash alerted me to shift into neutral/press start. I had to pull off the highway in single lane traffic and call for a tow. The truck was towed to the dealership. The truck lost power on the highway in single lane and there was no ability for other cars to go around me in a 75mph zone due to construction. The dealer diagnosis is that the motor is locked up and will require full replacement at only 70k miles. It is within years on powertrain but out due to mileage. There were no symptoms until the truck engine locked itself up.
The Transmission is stuck in 2nd gear, and won’t reverse. I bought the truck used from dealership. There is a GM Technical Bulletin, that states the vehicle is/was not to have been sold, prior to having the Transmission control Module replaced.
The contact owned a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at approximately 10 MPH and coming to a stop light, inadvertently the front driver-side wheel detached from the vehicle, which led her to collide with a vehicle that was parked on the right side. As a result, all of the underneath of the vehicle was damaged. The contact stated that the wheel flew away and fell in front of the driver attempting to turn to the right and also causing a collision. There were no warning lights illuminated, and no strange sounds were noticed before the failure. The airbags in the vehicle failed to deploy. There were five people in the vehicle during the incident. The contact and his wife suffered from injuries in the chest which required medical attention. The contact also stated that his daughter suffered from chest pain and his grandson from knee pain. The other people involved in the accident suffered minor injuries, and they were only interested in getting paid for the damages. The contact also stated that the vehicle was previously taken to an unknown local dealer for a strange sound emanating from the wheel; however, no failure was found. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately unknown.
Bought the truck brand new and the transmission hard shifts in every gear. Has been in and out of the dealership nonstop for the past 2 years for electrical issues with the radio, an oil sensor wiring issue, and the dealership is trying to say 5 modules are out in the truck. They only posted 3 modules and they were transfer case module, power steering module, and body control module.
I bought this truck with 0 miles and I purchase an extended warranty for $4000 DLS from the dealership to cover until 150000 miles and on January 2024 The transmission broke down I took in into the dealership for repairs and they have not been able to repaired and they keep giving me the round around every day is been 6 months that I been paying for a vehicle that I can’t drive and neither the dealership or the extended warranty company can fixed I need your help please thank you and gb
As I drive down road at speed limit. Transmission control module shuts down and the truck loses speed to where it's a safety problem that the cars behind you almost hits you as you have to coast of the road. It has happened to many times. I took it to dealerships. But I had to shop around from county to county to find one that would fix the problem. They dealership wouldn't fix while under warranty. Know that I have finally found a dealership in another county. They have ho parts to fix it. But I'm stuck with a bill that while under warranty the problem exists. The biggest thing is that once I found this dealership. They informed me that this is ongoing problem with GM. They had about 7 others in shop with the same problem and no parts. I don't understand while there is no recall to fix this problem that exists. Trying to make me pay my truck payment plus spend monthly money on renter cars. That's about $2000 a month extra.
Periodically at low speeds my transmission will hard shift. This causes my vehicle to lurch forward. This has happened several times to me. I have taken it to my Chevrolet dealership and have been told that this is a known problem but nothing they the dealership can do about it! I can only speculate but they are waiting for GM to make a decision on what must be done. I believe the transmission is mechanically faulty.
I'm frequently seeing a "Service Power Steering. Drive with Care" message on my dashboard. This has happened multiple times (e.g., 6-8 times) on single 20-mile drive during heavy downpour . I had the issue checked immediately by the dealer. While they couldn't replicate the exact scenario (they only saw the message once), they did apply a pending software update. Unfortunately, the message reappeared after a few days and continues to come and go sporadically. Several other vehicle owners have also reported this message online, but there seems to be no clear explanation yet. Interestingly, I've noticed the message seems to correlate more frequently with using the 120V outlet for powering accessories. Given this "programmed message" likely triggers based on specific scenarios, there must be identifiable conditions causing it. The message appears at various speeds (city/highway) and during both straight driving and turns. I'm sharing this information to raise awareness and encourage others experiencing this issue to contact their dealership. By reporting similar situations, we can hopefully push for a proper diagnosis and solution.
Engine started misfiring at 33,000 miles, dealer replaced fuel injector still happening. Now they are breaking down the engine to check the cam shaft, I guess I will see my truck in 2 - 3 weeks. Front collision warning not working properly for the second time within a year. Dealer says they are replacing the camera.
The contact owned a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 MPH, an abnormal, burning plastic odor began to emit from the vehicle coming to a complete stop. As the contact made a left turn, the contact's passenger noticed flames coming from underneath the hood of the engine. The contact and the passenger both immediately exited the vehicle upon pulling off to the shoulder of the road. The contact stated that they were unaware if any warning lights had appeared on the instrument panel during the failure. The contact lifted the hood and saw that flames had engulfed the entire passenger side of the engine bay. Authorities were called to the scene and the fire department extinguished the fire. Both a police report and a fire report were filed. No injuries were reported during the fire incident. The vehicle was initially towed to an independent mechanic but was later towed to an undisclosed location by the contact's insurance company. Both the dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure but neither offered the contact any assistance. The vehicle was destroyed as a result of the fire. The failure mileage was approximately 39,000.
Brake failure warning notification and brakes went soft without warning. Almost rear ended vehicle in front of me.
While driving, my Bose radio system went to full volume and would not respond. I tried to turn the radio off but the power button would not work. I tried to turn the volume down using both the volume knob and the volume controls on the steering wheel with negative results. If I turned the volume knob fast enough, I could get the volume to turn down, but I had to continually keep turning the knob counter-clockwise else the volume would return to full volume. I was able to pull off the road and I turned the truck off. I turned the truck back on but the volume was still at full volume. I let the truck sit around 10 minutes and was able to drive it again with normal volume. I called my dealer, Bob Jass Chevrolet in Elburn IL to report the incident. Erin said to bring the truck in to have it reprogrammed. This happened once before - summer 2023. Bob Jass Chevrolet reprogrammed it on [XXX]. Other owners have reported having this issue in the Silverado Truck forums. When this happens it is a major distraction, and it will result in someone crashing because of it. Component: Bose sound system. It is available for inspection with proper notice Safety at risk: The volume goes to full volume instantly without warning and can't be turned down. The truck must rest approximately 10 minutes to return to normal. Problem reproduced: When I reported this to the dealer in June 2023 Erin advised this has happened to other owners and she wasn't surprised. Component inspected: Bob Jass Chevrolet s
Known exhaust leak issues from under the truck as well as under the hood allowing raw exhaust to enter the cab. CO levels increase to a unsafe level while leak is present. Dealer who looked at the issues states the exhaust leak is "normal". Worried about CO poisoning causing drowsiness and potential accidents being blamed on driving tired where reality is this is a byproduct of CO exposure.
Driving on busy road and the engine cut off completely without warning on a busy Highway. The first time it happened vehicle could be restarted and get to dealership and no code and unable to figure out the cause. Second time driving again on a busy road and happened on a curve and it shut down and would not restart and then had to wait for a tow and call for police to help due to busy traffic area as well. Engine has to be completely replaced. Vehicle only has 24000 miles and is 2022. Now I’m told it needs new engine and it has been 4 weeks and backordered…how has this not been a safety issue already and a concern prior? GM should be doing more. I’m concerned to get this truck back and have the same problem again.
The tailgate has become disengaged on 3 or 4 separate occurrences. I see there is a problem and a recall for 2020-24 vehicles although our vehicle is not in the recall. The problem I am having is the same as the recall. I am looking for some assistance because my issue is the same as the recall and my warrantee is about to expire. The recall covers certain 2020-2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles that have power unlatching tailgates. The problem occurs if water has leaked into the tailgate's electronic gate-release switch. The electronic switch may short circuit, resulting in the tailgate unlatching.
Several times since I bought this truck new, the front turn signals fail. The blinker starts blinking very fast and if flashes a message to check the front turn signal. This has happened with both sides. Took it to the dealer 2x with a video of the dash and they say they cannot reproduce the problem. The internet is full of people with the same problems.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, and while the vehicle was parked, the tailgate opened unintendedly. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that he was able to monitor the tailgate through the rearview camera. The contact stated that he could only close the tailgate manually when the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 36,500.
I was driving on [XXX] where the speed limit varies from 65-75 MPH. I hit 70mph and randomly the truck jolted and dropped down to 40mph without warning. Cars swerved to avoid hitting me and I was shaken. I called the dealership who said there are no recalls and nothing to worry about, but call if it happens again. Two days later I was driving up to Pa from TN. 7 hours away from home and also on [XXX] and the truck did it again 3 times in a row. The truck was bouncing all over the highway and people trying their best to avoid me. I managed to get off but did hit and go over something when I was getting off the highway. I took the back streets and found a dealer. The transmission needs to be replaced the think, on a 2 year old truck with 50k miles. Apparently factory caused electrical issues. This truck has been an electrical nightmare since we purchased it. They need to issue a recall with all the transmission and engine issues that Chevy is experiencing. When my windshield wipers and headlights have been on for an extended period of time, they tend to cut out. My lights will flicker one time and my windshield wipers freeze for a brief second. Also my vehicle has around 36,000mi and recently a “monitor brake pads” has popped up. I have looked at my brakes and they have plenty of life left. I am not sure what to do. My truck should not be “glitching” and having electrical problems, especially with the amount of money it costs.
A wire box fell down from behind the dash, and landed behind the brake pedal. This created a severe emergency situation in that the brake pedal could not be depressed at a traffic light, almost causing a car accident. The dealership explained that they have seen this problem before, but it's not a current recall, but should be. Since new, this vehicle has had two unresolved safety issues. One of which being the failure of a FMVSS 111 required system - rear vision camera. The two defects are: 1. Service 4WD warning message and inability to use 4WD in inclement weather. This has caused safety concerns for my wife and I when traveling in the winter. 2. Failure of the FMVSS 111 required rear view camera system when in reverse. The display screen goes blank with an error message intermittently when in reverse. Not being able to see behind the vehicle while in reverse has raised safety concerns by both my wife and I in numerous parking situations. The Dealer (Al Serra Chevrolet Grand Blanc MI) has attempted warranty repairs on both issues on 4 service visits: Delivery Date 9/27/2022 1st repair 1/12/2023 2nd repair 11/27/2023 3rd repair 12/19/2023 4th repair 2/27/2023 GM Customer Assistance Case 9-12089878168 2/27/2024 Certified Letter to GM notifying of intent to file for Lemon Law Relief, Final Repair attempt. All 4 repair attempts included the 4WD system failure as well as the Rear View Camera system failure. Many components have been replaced. along with many reprograming attempts of both systems. Both problems return after the Dealer attempts a repair, and have not been successfully repaired to date. The problems first appeared on 1/12/2023. Due to the Camera issue being of such a serious safety hazard, we will not drive the vehicle again until repairs are assured. We cannot risk backing into a pedest
The sound will increase to max volume and I am unable to lower the sound, this has happened numerous times while driving and has also happened while on major freeways. This is a very frightening event when I am driving by myself and even more when I am with my family. This has been reported to the dealer several times but it continues to happen. Today it happened in a parking lot so luckily I could stop, turn the vehicle off, open the door, and turn it back in. The problem persisted after shutting the truck off several times. I finally had to let my phone connect, open Apple Music, played a song and paused it so I could have no sound.
Auto stop/start will shut the vehicle off when still in motion. If the vehicle is coming to a stop and is rolling the stop/start will activate and shut the truck off
The back up camera shuts off in low light conditions. Camera shuts off and a triangle with a ! Will appear. The camera will continue to flash on and off
“Service Trailer Brake System” alert on info center and Trailer Brake Contol lights flickering since purchase February 2022 Trailer brakes intermittently do not work while towing 29’ camper trailer. Reported this issue several times to several different Chevrolet service departments. Have been told by every service department that there isn’t a problem.
Started my truck and drove off. 10 seconds later all of the lights on instrument cluster came on and displayed steering assist reduced the. It said service brake assist. My brakes weee very spongy and hardly worked luckily I was only driving 20 mph and no one was in front of me. I had to disconnect battery and reconnect to fix the problem. What if I was on the highway doing 70 mph and had to hit my brakes suddenly. Someone or multiple people could have been injured. This truck has 13,000 miles on and it’s a year old. I have ready many reports online of this happening in earlier models. How can car manufactures get away with this ?

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
