Radiator leaking for unknown reason. No damage to front end or from under truck. I have been smelling anti freeze for about the past year but could not see any signs of any leaks until now. Still no sign of a leak on the ground but can see it on the bottom of the radiator support.
2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 complaints
Owner reports filed with NHTSA about this vehicle, newest first and reproduced as filed. They are unverified accounts: one proves nothing, and a pattern across many is the thing worth reading. Back to the full 2015 record →
Recall: 19V645000 Engine Vacuum Pump Fails Reducing Power Braking Assist. Truck brakes not stopping. Air conditioner issues.
At low speeds the brakes do not engage 100% of the time. After a few short pumps the brakes dont engage and I have to push as hard as I can on the brake pedal to get the truck to stop. It has happened at random times over the last year and there is no pattern to it. It seems to brake fine when I am traveling at higher speeds but when I am parking or in stop and go traffic I have issues with stopping the truck. I believe the problem is the vacuum pump for the brakes. This issue needs to be resolved since I have read hundreds of other complaints about this same braking problem.
Upper right hand corner of display screen can be unresponsive or, more frequently, select items on its own. It will select different radio stations, rearrange apps, and call or put calls on hold. Steering wheel display changes to radio tab on its own. This puts my safety at risk because I have to fight with the radio to keep it on a single station and take my eyes off the road to constantly take phone calls off hold. Problem occurred in presence of dealer mechanic and I have videos of the problem. I have taken this to the dealer and they were unable to solve the problem. No warning lamps to indicate anything wrong or preceded the incident. The problem began in July 2021.
While driving there is a reoccurring warning of trailer brake problem. I was told this is due to a faulty waring harness, that needs to be repaired.
I have called GM several time regarding a remedy for the truck, but they continue to say that a remedy is coming. It has been 3 months and I still have not had my truck repaired, so I cannot drive it due to the recall.
My truck will start flickering and shuts off jerking the steering wheel out of my hand, then tells me to service stabilitrak. It mostly happens when I am driving (coming to a stop sign/light and/or while turning). Had it taken to two different dealers and they keep telling me it’s a mechanical issue when It seems more electrical.
While traveling at low speeds, my brake pedal gets extremely stiff and brake are almost inoperable. When pressed completely down, a grinding noise is heard. It seems as though my vehicle was impacted by the manufacture brake booster defect where NHTSA determined to be a safety recall.
I was towing my 44 foot trailer and I suddenly got an error that the trailer and the braking system was not connected to the truck. Luckily I was not going fast and was able to still stop but I have been driving the truck also when nothing was attached to my vehicle and I get that same morning trailer brake not attached in an error. I have contacted Chevrolet and they say there is nothing wrong there’s no recall on it but if you get online and all the places were the owners of General Motors trucks you will find numerous complaints about this problem they say they cannot duplicate this at the shops. But it continues to happen they say replace this and it still happens replace that and it still happens there’s a major problem somewhere and I imagine there have been accidents due to this error. I think it needs to be looked at from what I can tell it has not been I also had owned a GMC 20 14. 1/2 ton pick up and it had the same problem and I got the same answers. I reported this problem with my 2014 GMC 3-4 yrs ago
Thermostat cycling causing cracking in radiator. This is a factory problem that should absolutely be under warranty
At low speeds I lose all pressure in my brake pedal and it goes very hard. I have to use every bit of force in my body to stop the car. There is already a recall for this issue with the vacuum pump for my year make and model however my VIN is not part of it. I tried to call General Motors about this and was told I am not part of the recall. When I asked to escalate the issue to someone dealing with the recall so they can be aware that it is affecting more vehicles than they think I was told I can't escalate it and was hung up on.
Loss of braking in reverse, hard pedal feel, unable to stop. no warning lights or DTC codes
Transmission shudder after dealer repair of transmission temperature sensor DTC P0711 returned car to dealer and they flushed transmission but shudder still exists shudder at part throttle settings when depressing throttle
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the braking system would intermittently malfunction, and the vehicle would continue to move while depressing the brake pedal. The contact indicated that on one occasion while in reverse and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle would not stop causing the attached utility trailer to contact a parked boat trailer. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 135,000.
When slowing down vehicle to stop at traffic light or pull in parking space, brakes are failing and feels like vehicle has no brakes..have to press down on brake pedal really hard and as far down as it will go before vehicle will stop. Only happens at these lower speeds such as while trying to park or stop at a traffic light. We have had the brake pads, rotors, calipers, etc checked..everything looks good so this is not the problem. There were no warning lamps or messages associated with this problem..it has happened the last 2 times we have driven the vehicle..we are not driving it anymore at the moment until we figure out was is going on. Afraid we will hit something or someone else if we cannot get the vehicle stopped in time. Looking online seems there were several recalls for this problem for this vehicle but I never received a notice for it..possibly a bad vacuum pump or ABS defect? Needs to be reset or something..Please advise. Thank you.
Brakes aren’t properly working at low speeds like stop and go traffic or waiting in line at a gate. They vibrate like the pump is bad or something but brakes work fine when driving at normal speeds.
Truck has 98,500 miles on it. Radiator is cracked and leaking, roof leaks when raining, electric power steering randomly jerks the wheel out of your hand and almost causes you to crash.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the steering wheel failed. The steering wheel became hard to turn to require excessive force to steer the vehicle. The contact was able to drive the vehicle onto the road shoulder. The contact restarted the vehicle and the steering wheel failed to operate as designed. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to drive the vehicle home. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed. The contact stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V586000 (Steering). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was not available.
My 2015 Silverado High Country shakes at highway speeds. The dealer ship where I bought the truck keep telling me there is nothing wrong with the truck despite MULTIPLE road force balancing.
Wiring harness for vehicle is poorly design and is sitting next to hot engine block where the wires are melted and caused a short in the whole entire vehicle, all system is shut down when overheated, this means while traveling at any speed everything goes dead which is considered a highly unsafe situation.
Have been experiencing a disconcerting side to side driver seat movement when navigating corners. Had truck looked at as there have been numerous online posted issues with this issue. Upon inspection, was told the seat frame was broken at a weld point and seat would need to be replaced. Also told they have replaced "Many" broken seat frames for the year and model of my Silverado. Note, this truck has only 16,000 miles on it and is maintained like new.
The system that failed is the speedometer display and radio display while driving. This can be dangerous as I do not know the speed I am driving. This can also be dangerous as the display includes the screen for the backup camera that turns off without notice while backing up. The problem has happened many times in my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado. I have a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado for a company vehicle and the issue occurs in it, as well. I notified the GM dealership where both vehicles were purchased and they said the screen could be replaced but would be very expensive. No warning lamps or messages occurred. The screen jumps around a lot and occurs at various times (morning, afternoon, warm or cold weather, etc.).
I estimate this has happened over 10 times. I lose all electrical power to the vehicle and the car shuts off, often this is preceded by loss of power steering and low speed. The last time this happened when pulling out into traffic; the steering kicked back, the truck lost all electrical power, dash went blank, radio dark, including loss of head lights, I will reiterate that this happened while pulling into traffic. This truck cost me over $40k new and I believe Chevy is aware of the problem, then simply don't want to cover the cost of parts and labor to fix. The dealership told me they had no idea what the issue could be, then I found several GM documents online. It appears this is a known issue, and they even list 2015 Silverado on documents. Bulletin No.: 18-NA-161 (The issues in this match exactly what I've experienced) also Reference Number:N172085440 Please help me convince Chevrolet to fix this issue or force them to do a recall.
For months i have been experiencing small issues at first, turn signal quit making noise, and then the radio quit working, this issue would only be corrected by turning off the vehicle, and restarting it, now the problem has gotten worse, tpms lights up on the dashboard the stabillitrack icon appears, and vehicle appears to stall momentarily and the radio goes blank, the most dangerous part is the electric steering wheel locks up, i have read several complaints online about this issue, and find no solution has ever been recorded, so far i have experiment this issue at low speeds and it is a interment problem that randomly happens
Side rail airbag deployed knock me out and total my vehicle.
Seat belt recall for the 2015 Silverado (pretensioner cable)........Landers Chev in Norman, OK inspected and reports they handled the recall issue on 9/20/2016. On 8/2/2021, the pretensioner cable broke off (not under any stress). I called the dealer and also GM, and was told the cable was fixed back in 2016. I advised that a safety repair should last more than 5 years. Both told me that I would need to pay for the repair. Obviously, the original issue was either not fixed at all, or fixed with the same failing cable from the recall. That was not a FIX. There should be another recall.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5-10 mph, the electric power steering failed, and the steering wheel ceased. The dealer was made aware of the failure and scheduled an upcoming appointment to diagnose the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 45,304.
The 2015 Chevy Silverado has a very common problem, which I am shocked has not been put under a nation wide recall. A manufacturing issue of placing the negative battery cable in the wrong spot, causes the dash, power steering, stability tracking and air conditioning to shut off completely. When braking, the dash shuts off and the steering wheel locks, which has sent me into oncoming traffic. My brother had the exact same year make and model of truck and had the same exact issue. When his needed to be fixed, he was told the same thing from the dealership. “The negative battery cable should have never been in placed in that position, but relocating it will fix the problem. Only, after replacing the battery it burned out as well. Here is the text I received from the dealership today. “Hey Brian, this is Matt @ Ken Garff Chevrolet, we have tracked the problem down on the truck to the negative battery cable. It has high resistance causing the electrical issues. Estimate for repairs $492 before tax. Reply STOP to OptOut.” It’s a very good thing they diagnosed the issue, since I told them what it was when I walked in their shop. I told them verbatim what they sent back to me. There are literally thousands of complaints online with the same issue. How does a manufacturing fault, that is most definitely a safety issue, become the consumers expense. This problem is much worse, and more dangerous than the recalls that are currently on the vehicle. How many accidents and how much consum
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated while driving approximately 10 mph at a higher altitude, the RPM increased to between 4,000-5000 RPMs. The gear shifter was shifted into neutral and the RPM’s decreased. The vehicle was taken to an unknown local dealer where the contact was informed that there was a failure due to the high altitude. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000. The VIN was not available.
Unknown When driving vehicle will randomly and often lose power -- the radio and dash lights go out, the steering wheel locks up -- sometimes the vehicle will have to be restarted
The brake system fails when operating at extremely slow speeds (i.e., at drive throughs and while parking). Brake pedal becomes rigid and difficult to engage. When engaging the foot break the vehicle continues to roll and is unresponsive resulting in the vehicle to continue moving. Service appointment is scheduled for 7/14/21 at a certified Chevrolet dealer/service provider.
A/C Condenser gave out causing window to fog/ same issue with all GM / TAHOE / SUBURBAN / ESCALADE . Life safety issue visibility compromised I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado with only 30k on it. This should be a mandatory recall.
The power steering quits working for a few seconds then comes back on making it extremely difficult to steer vehicle..
Losing breaks at low speed, there was a recall in Canada for this issue
Additional brake pedal effort needed at low speeds. If truck is at idol and or in traffic brake pedal becomes extremely stiff and requires a tremendous amount of effort to stop.
Fuel tank leak. No warning lights. Strong smell. Fuel on outside of tank. 46,000 miles.
The side impact airbags failed to deploy. I was ( T Boned) side impacted with such force to propel my my truck 90 degrees and into the ditch. I was wearing my seatbelt. The other driver was charged with the accident. I impacted the doorframe with my Lt. arm and chest, and my Left temple struck the window frame. The truck was totaled. As a result of the vehicular collision I suffered Pulmonary contusions, 3 broken ribs, a lacerated spleen, and omental lacerations. Had the side curtain airbags deployed my injuries would have been significantly reduced. This problem was noted in the accident report. Attached. I have not reported this to a dealer Geico has inspected the vehicle I reported to the the issue with the airbags . No warning lights or any other indication that the airbags were inoperable at any time in the trucks history. I am the first owner of this truck and it was well maintained . I was expected to get at least another 10 years service from the vehicle and maintained as so. I Have attached the accident report.
Truck has 130k miles. Never used for towing or rough driving. Transmission is going bad. Reached out to GM and was told it’s our problem. We paid 43,000 for this vehicle and transmission issues already. We have a 1997 Chevy Silverado as well. With 321,000 miles on it and just had to replace the transmission. Engine is still running strong. For a vehicle to cost as much as our 2015 you would think the quality would better.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that after taking the vehicle to a local dealer for an oil change, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shuddered and lost motive power. The vehicle was restarted and while driving back to the residence the failure recurred several times. The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The fuel pump was replaced and the vehicle was fixed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 87,000.
My truck shakes frequently going down the road at certain speeds. I've had it for around 6 years now and I can't pinpoint exactly when it started. I've had the truck in for maintenance/service at the dealership as well as other auto shops trying to diagnose the problem. I've had new tries, new brakes, countless tire rotations, wheel balancing etc you name it. And the problem persists. Recently after hearing about the "Chevy Shake" I've come to realize that my problems are just like what others have too. Now my powertrain has given out. And my extended warranty has ended. I truly believe that the issues have caused, or are caused by this prevailing issue of a wobbling drive shaft. Every time I have had it in for repairs the issue still persists and I can't always get the time to go back and have it looked at it again. It is a safety issue above all else and I truly believe GM knows about it but does nothing. Even more to the point, I had a "transmission fluid flush" just under a month ago and now all of a sudden my truck doesn't shift like it should. They say it will cost over 5 thousand dollars to get repaired. There is something seriously wrong here. This is an ongoing issue, and again it is difficult to say when it started. But a vehicle going down the highway at speed limit and shaking is a safety concern.

AIR CONDITIONER BLOWING HOT AIR. DOES NOT HOLD COOLANT WHEN REPLACED OR RECHARGED
PAINT IS PEELING AND FLAKING IN MULTIPLE SPOTS ON MY TRUCK. GM WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT BECAUSE IT'S AFTER 3 YR OR 36000 MILES. THIS IS A VERY POPULAR PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR OF CHEVY TRUCKS. IT'S ALL OVER VEHICLE WEBSITES. IT'S A BAD PATCH OF PAINT OR PRIMER ISSUE. GM TOLD ME IT'S MAINTENANCE AFTER THE PAINT WARRANTY IS UP. THE SPOTS ARE INSIDE MY TAILGATE AND NEXT THE WINDSHIELD. TWO SPOTS WHERE IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR CHIPS TO HAPPEN FROM DRIVING. THIS IS A GM PROBLEM! THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. I'M SURE THEY KNOW THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM. THEY NEED TO FIX IT. THEY ARE LOSING CHEVY CUSTOMERS.
BRAKE PEDAL ALWAYS HARDER THAN NORMAL BRAKES. GETS WORSE AT LOW SPEEDS TO THE POINT OF HAVING LITTLE TO NO BREAKS AT ALL
WATER FILTRATION FROM THE SHARK ANTENNA AND REAR THIRD LIGHT, WITH POSSIBLE SHORT ON A DASH BOARD AND INSTRUMENTAL PANEL (ALREADY OCCURRED MORE THAN ONCE WITH NO LIGHT ON A INSTRUMENTAL PANEL AND NO FUNCTION OF THE ALL GAUGES INCLUDING SPEED GAUGE) THE PROBLEM HAPPENED ESPECIALLY ON RAINY DAYS ON STATIONARY VEHICLE AND ALSO IN A DRIVING CONDITIONS BOLT CITY AND HIGHWAY TIME. THE PHOTO SHOWING ARE ONLY THE RECENT BUT THE PROBLEM HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THAN NOW. THIS TIME WAS THE WORST EVER
DURING SLOWER DRIVING AND TURNING WHEEL, POWER STEERING HARDENS UP AND MOTOR HAS SHUT DOWN WHILE IN MOTION. WHEN TRYING TO TURN WHEEL TURNING HARD INTO PARKING OR TURNING SHARPER TURNS WHILE DRIVING THIS OCCURS! VERY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND CAUSING A CRASH. BUSY STREET DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND ALSO IN PARKING AREAS THIS HAS OCCURRED
THE A/C IS KNOWN TO BE DEFECTIVE IN A 2015 CHEVY SILVERADO AND MINE WENT OUT ON 03/28/2021. I BOUGHT MY TRUCK NEW AND MAINTENANCED IT WELL AND IS GARAGE KEPT. THERE IS NO REASON FOR THIS FAILURE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR THE WINDOWS CAN FOG UP IN ADVERSE WEATHER AND HINDER VISIBILITY. CHEVROLET NEEDS TO OWN UP TO A BADDLY DESIGNED SYSTEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE START TO SHAKE ABNORMALLY WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE HIMSELF BY REPLACING THE SPARK PLUGS AND IGNITION COILS HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
MY SILVERADO HAS ALREADY HAD THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE RELATED TO THE PREVIOUS VACUUM PUMP/BRAKE RECALL (N192268490). IT INITIALLY HELPED, BUT NOW THE BRAKE PEDAL IS AGAIN EXTREMELY HARD TO PRESS AT SLOW SPEEDS, SUCH AS IN TRAFFIC. YOU NEED TO ALMOST STAND ON IT TO STOP. IT APPEARS THAT THE DETERIORATION IS BACK WHERE IT WAS BEFORE THE SOFTWARE "FIX." I WILL BE TAKING TO THE DEALERSHIP THIS WEEK AND REQUESTING A REPLACEMENT OF THE VACUUM PUMP UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL. I AM BEYOND REGULAR POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AT THIS POINT, BUT BRAKES SEEM LIKE THEY SHOULD WORK PAST 80K.
WHEELS LOCKED UP. GARAGE STATES IT IS 4 WHEEL DRIVE TRANSFER CASE. GARAGE CHECKED WITH GM FOR A RECALL AND THIS ISSUE IS ON RECALL FOR THIS TYPE/YEAR OF TRUCK BUT VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. TRANSFER CASE MUST BE REPROGRAMMED ACCORDING TO DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND GM CONFIRMED THAT IS THE FIX. THIS VEHICLE HAS JUST OVER 40,000 MILES ON IT AND GM STATED IT IS NOT COVERED BY RECALL.
Reading these
NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
