Fuel shut off does not work properly, extra fuel will spill out before the station's gas nozzle shuts off. Happens at every gas station, every time. Spilling fuel is a significant safety issue and environmental concern. Very surprised there hasn't been a recall yet.

The 2015 Equinox has transmission problems. While driving the transmission will stop working and you have to turn off the motor and wait a few minutes and restart the motor for the transmission to shift into Park reverse and drive again. It happened on a road with no shoulder and traffic behind me I had to shut off the motor put it in park and wait a minute and then restart the motor for the vehicle to be able to move again!
Car stalling when taking off from a stop causing dangerous situations. I had a 2013 of the exact model and it did the same thing. GM has an issue with the intake sensors that needs to be addressed.
Engine system making noise, the vehicle did not sound right, but no warning lights. I took vehicle in for oil service, told it was not time for an oil change even though 50% of the oil was consumed with only about 600 miles driven (last service 89275 mi, now 89889 mi). Service center topped off my oil but warned the system is burning more oil than it should with no signs of a leak.

On a trip to the hospital in rain, the windshield wipers failed. Doing some research, I found the current open recall. Kim’s Chevrolet in Laurel, MS is refusing to check the open recall. They claim they are not able to because there’s been “no remedy”.

We received a letter in the mail approximately April of 2022 stating there was a recall on the ball joints of the wipers. There was no parts available at the time for them to repair, The letter stated just wait. We continued to check in and there was still no fix. We were driving 2 hours away in Des Moines, Iowa on Friday August 19th when a torrential rain came down. The windshield wiper ball joint failed almost causing us to get into an accident on the interstate. We had to wait the storm out, and then made it home later on that night. I called the number on the recall sheet and GM told us that my husband's dad could fix the problem and we could be in reimbursed because he was a certified mechanic. My husband and his father who is a certified mechanic fixed the problem with a part from O'Reilly's. It's an OEM product they put in. After the part was fixed on Saturday August 20th, we called back like the agent said to get the reimbursement form. That's when the agent told us we could not be reimbursed because it wasn't done at the dealership. They have told us many different stories on how we are supposed to take care of this recall. But the dealership couldn't have fixed it anyway because there's no fix for it in place. I'm not working due to health issues and I go to many doctors appointments so I have to have a working vehicle with working windshield wipers. So in case it were to rain I wouldn't get into a horrible car accident like we almost did on Friday. I just want to b
I was heading north on US23 in northern Michigan when I was in a rainstorm, traffic was going about 30mph due to how hard the rain was coming down and I had my windshield wipers on full blast when they suddenly stopped working and sat there in the middle of my windshield. I had to cut across 2 lanes of highway traffic with very little visibility to pull over on the shoulder of the highway to figure out my windshield wipers and let the storm pass. I found out there is a recall on the wiper windshield motor, however Chevrolet does not have parts to fix the issue until December at the earliest. They do not have a temporary fix. They do not offer rental cars. Basically Chevrolet is forcing customers to fix this issue out of pocket at their expense and when I reached out for reimbursement, they told me that is not a possible solution.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The timing chain went bad and had to be replaced before the break pads. Chevrolet wanted twice as much to repair as my mechanic did, and he used OEM parts and he replaced a few other things that *might* go out, since the entire engine had to be removed.
You must be aware of the problems that the 2.4 ECO-TEC engine has in relation to oil consumption and clogged PCV valve in cold weather. When the valve freezes it results in oil loss and engine failure which puts the driver and passengers in a very dangerous situation. I had to rebuild my motor for $3100 and I had to replace the valve 4 different times. Its all about the money and how much GM would have to pay to make this problem right. Instead the NHTSA turns a blind eye to the dangerous problem and instead investigates on why some wiper blades don't work. Do some real investigation by first Equinox oil consumption problems and read some real accounts of owners being put in dangerous situations.
Driving in heavy rain on highway and windshield wipers just suddenly stopped and froze mid windshield almost hydroplaned and almost got rear ended when I slowed down despite putting caution lights on. Wipers are still not working and I have contacted multiple dealerships about this and there being a possible recall and am told there is not a permanent solution. I finally got one dealership in the area that will look at the issue. I have the incident recorded on dash camera.

Vin tool confirms remedy not yet available
On Friday, August 5th my state experienced torrential downpours and floods. While driving my windshield wipers stopped working. It was almost impossible to see, and I was fortunate that I opted to NOT take the highway home that afternoon, but opted for the longer route on suburban roads. I slowly made my way to a nearby church and parked my car. Upon retrieval and inspection the next day, it was discovered that a ball joint had corroded and broke, causing the failure. My vehicle had been in approximately a month prior at an authorized Chevrolet dealer, and nothing was said to us about the car having an active recall on the wiper system, specifically the ball joints, the very part that failed. I contacted Chevrolet's customer service department and was told that the recall remedy was not finalized, though according to NHTSA the part is to be inspected and replaced if necessary. Further, I was advised when the remedy is available, we will receive a letter and can submit for reimbursement. There was no warning that there was a problem. When we took our vehicle in for service a month ago, it should have been inspected. It was not. I could have had an accident and serious injuries could have occurred. Chevrolet needs to get the vehicles under the recall pulled in immediately for inspection. Further, authorized dealers need to advise their clients when there is a recall when they have their vehicle in for service.

Windshield wipers stopped working, attempted to get the car repaired at a local dealership, they stated the windshield wiper recall was not office yet and they also did not have any parts to complete the repairs. I could not drive the car without the windshield wipers being operable, had to pay our of pocket to have the repairs done.
On May 6, 2022 I was driving my 9 yr old daughter home from school during a severe rainstorm and my wind shield wipers just stopped working. Absolutely no movement from them. I got out in this storm on the side of the highway to try to fix them and they would not move. I was 30 minutes from my home and my weather app stated the storm would not stop for hours so I had to drive home with no wipers. I am a single mother of 2 kids with absolutely no help and this is my only vehicle. I've been caught in the rain multiple times in this car since May and I've never shaken in fear like I have when I have to figure out how to get this car home in the rain. I have to check the weather multiple times a day if I need to go anywhere to make sure I don't get caught in a storm. I've canceled multiple doctor appointments because it was storming during the time of the appointment. I had to cancel a trip I planned on taking my kids on because I could not afford to rent a car and I am too afraid to drive my car very far from home. It's summer and my kids are out of school and I can't take them anywhere far because I am too afraid to drive this car because it rains a lot here in the summer. There are no warning lights, nothing else happening...it sounds like the motor works but nothing happens when I turn them. Believe me, I try every time I get in. I took the car to a dealership(Moses in Huntington, WV - Trish Marnix the service manager tried to help) to see if they could see if it was a quick f

The Ecotec 2.4L engine installed within this vehicle has been, at an increasing rate, burning oil. At the vehicles most recent change, it burned 2 quarts of oil, which is the most it has ever burned. I'm also concerned that the low oil pressure sensor warning did not come, since it was 2 quarts low on oil. Over the past 50,000 miles, about, the vehicle averaged burning about 1 to 1.5 quarts of oil. I believe there is something systemically wrong with this vehicles Ecotec 2.4L engine that is causes it to burn oil.

My car had no advance warning as was supposed to for low oil levels. I was driving highway speed during rush hour when I hear a loud bang my car jolts to a stop and I’m left stranded. The car was only 5 years old and 100,000 miles. The bang was the engine that blew due to a major oil consumption or leak issue with the 2.4 and the transmission also burnt and needed replaced as well. I bought used and did not even make the first payment.
Timing chain components went out, causing massive engine failure.

My vehicles engine was destroyed when the timing chain snapped due to oil consumption problems with the engine. I started my vehicle up one day and there was a very loud sound for a few seconds and then the car shut off and wouldn't start again. I called many shops before taking it to be diagnosed and everyone of them including a Chevy dealer employee said that this unfortunately is a common problem with this vehicle . They have a terrible oil consumption problem which leads to the timing chain breaking and destroying the engine. I then took my car to a shop and they determined that it did snap and I needed a whole new engine. Chevy dealership didn't have any engines available and they still don't not because they are on back order still. So I had to take somewhere else and get a new engine put in. I got a zero mile engine put in the car with a warranty. But Chevy won't reimburse it because there is no recall associated with my vin Besides my vehicle I know of 2 other people who have the same make and model year who also had the timing chain snap and destroy the engine. One of which happened two weeks before mine. This problem has been detected in prior year models of the equinox. There was a class action lawsuit for year 2010-2013 They claimed to have fixed the problem but they clearly have not. I believe this engine needs inspected recalled and pulled from the market. This is a very costly problem that needs to be fixed. And Chevy should be held accountable for selling car'

Engine stopped working while advancing In turn lane to turn left at a busy intersection. It stopped moving. Required assistance from 3 other passerbys to push car through traffic and out of the intersection. It it had failed moments later the car would have been in the middle of the intersection. Then needed a tow truck to get the car to the service station. They diagnosed it to be a broken timing chain that damaged the cams and destroyed the engine. It was not inspected by anyone other than the sevice center. The car started rough 3 minutes earlier and was on the way to have it diagnosed at another service center. The check engine and system chassis lights came on after the timing chain failure.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
