Under certain situations related the angle of the sun and at night oncoming headlights, the dashboard is reflected onto the windshield. When traveling through shaded areas where the sun is blocked and unblocked the reflection on the windshield flickers. The dashboard reflection is so excessive it makes it hard to see and causes eye strain.

The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV LT FWD was purchased with an HD Surround Vision system that advertises multiple camera views including standard and overhead front/rear perspectives and rear hitch area monitoring, but lacks any convenient dashboard control to access these features when needed. Currently, drivers must shift into reverse gear then back to drive to activate the cameras, creating safety hazards when maneuvering in tight parking spaces, street parking, or narrow garages where visibility is most critical. Despite eight months since purchase and three service visits to Capitol Chevrolet Austin, no solution has been provided, with the dealership service team showing reluctance to address this functionality issue. This matter requires escalation to appropriate stakeholders, as customers should not pay for advertised safety features that lack practical usability—the current implementation renders the HD Surround Vision system ineffective for its intended purpose and creates the very safety risks it was designed to prevent, necessitating the implementation of proper dashboard controls to access all camera views without requiring potentially dangerous gear changes.

Front passenger wheel cracked, daily driving route does not have potholes or any other debris that could have cause the rim to crack randomly.

This has happened about 4 times in 4 months. In each scenario I am driving very slowly (3 times forwards, one time in reverse) with no obvious obstacle or crash potential. The brakes will slam suddenly very aggressively, I assume it is the e-brakes as it feels like I hit a wall. It is a safety issue as if someone was behind me it could cause an accident. I called the dealer as well and they were not aware of any issues. I have not had the vehicle inspected

The glare from the dashboard into the windshield blocked my view almost completely when driving on the San Francisco International Airport ramp, especially when the car was on a downhill ramp. I could not see anything in front of me for a couple seconds. This could have led to an accident should the car infront of me had breaked and stopped. The glare is also visible in normal driving conditions on sunny days and can distract my attention from the road.

BRAKING FAILURE on 2025 Equinox EV LT model - my car has had two separate brake failures going down a steep dry rocky road in clear weather, once with one pedal driving on and once without, on July 21st, 2025 and August 11th, 2025 respectively. It doesn't happen every time going down this road and each time at no more than 5 - 10 miles per hour, with the brake pedal to the floor the car was not slowing down and the weight of the car on the steep track made it speed up considerably which made it dangerous due to the steepness of the hill and turns in the road. The first time I drove off the road onto flat grass and the car came to a stop, the last time it happened I pumped the brakes until the car stopped and the "ABS engaged" light came on the dashboard above the steering wheel. It happened twice on the road that time. There were no prior alerts or warning lights. The car has 5000 miles and is still under warranty, the Chevy dealership had the car for 3 days. The dealership was not able to reproduce or confirm the problem with the brakes. The dealership told me they did a series of resets. They have not given me the written service report yet. I have an appointment to take the car back to the dealer. The brake fluid level is good, there are no current alerts on the dashboard while driving. The car is available for inspection upon request. I am concerned that my wife and I may be injured or killed in a braking failure or that we may injure or kill others or damage property.

Parts availability (scope/delay): My dealership and multiple GM/Chevrolet and OnStar owner forums indicate 3+ month waits for the telematics module with no ETA, leaving vehicles without emergency connectivity for extended periods. What has been done so far: Dealer confirmed module failure and opened a parts order; advised no ETA due to national backorder. Manufacturer has not provided an interim fix or loaner vehicle. There is a very dangerous glare-reflection of the dashboard on the windshield whenever it is sunny. It is difficult seeing pedestrians, bicyclists and oncoming cars. We have had this car for a few days.

Discovered water underneath passenger footwell carpet, causing a musty and mildewy smell. Many reports of similar discoveries online prompted the initial search. Safety concern is mold growth and rust. Dealer was unable to replicate issue after two attempts (ran through car wash, hose over windshield, ran A/C for extended period, checked AC condensate drainage). Dealer dried up water and carpet and told owner to monitor. Owner pulled up carpet to do own investigation after the second failed attempt by the dealer. Confirmed dry before starting investigation on warm sunny day (no rain). Owner found leak in passenger footwell underneath black access plate that only appeared with A/C usage AND during/after driving, not while car was stationary. Owner brought vehicle back to dealer. Dealer removed black access plate and confirmed leak was coming from a compromised body seam weld. Dealer repaired the failed body seam and no water intrusion has been seen by owner since repair was completed. Owner still has concerns about underlying cause of where water was coming from - theory is that condensation is forming ON the the A/C lines and is pooling somewhere in the body then sloshing around while the car is moving, causing further potential for water related issues, including rust.

On two occasions as I have pulled in to park this vehicle, while pressing brake the car lurched forward. The first time no damage happened however the second time damage occurred. While pressing the brake as hard as I could would not stop the lurching car. None of the avoidance warnings helped either.

At certain times of the day and depending on the lighting, the dashboard of my vehicle, has a very significant reflection that interferes with my ability to see through the windshield clearly. This puts myself and those in my path at risk of injury or death. I have contacted the person who sold me the car but he has not responded. I have read numerous online accounts of the same concern. GM is aware of the issue and chooses to do nothing.

The air conditioning (AC) condensate drain system is either blocked, misrouted, or improperly sealed, causing AC condensation to pool and leak into the front passenger-side footwell through the factory floor sealant. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The continuous leak has caused significant mold growth on the interior insulation behind the passenger footwell, creating a potential health hazard for occupants, especially those with respiratory conditions or allergies. Prolonged exposure to mold inside a sealed cabin environment poses a serious risk to occupant health. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The vehicle was brought to a dealership for this issue, but the problem persists. I later reproduced the issue myself by running the AC for 30 seconds, after which water visibly seeped through the floor seam. Mold growth was also confirmed behind the interior trim. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The dealership previously inspected the vehicle but failed to resolve the issue. No other parties (e.g., manufacturer representatives, police, or insurance) have inspected the vehicle at this time. The reflection of the dash design onto the windshield is a major hazard and can at times entirely obscure visibility of the roadway ahead.

Issue Description: While driving during daylight hours, especially when the sun is positioned at a certain angle, I have observed an intense reflection from the dashboard onto the inside of the windshield. This reflection is bright and widespread, directly obstructing my field of vision and making it difficult to see the road ahead clearly. The glare is particularly noticeable on clear or sunny days and significantly increases the risk of an accident. This visibility issue appears to be related to the dashboard material and design, which may not adequately diffuse or absorb sunlight. I believe this condition may affect other drivers as well, potentially leading to widespread safety concerns. Now, it won’t even start, and the battery was only at 73%. I can’t help but imagine my car stopping in the middle of the road. I would have died. My high-voltage battery isn’t even being recognized by the system. This is a highly safety hazard. If this happens on the highway, I would have been killed. Something is wrong with a less than 3 month old car.

The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the glare of the sun entering through the windshield was distracting while driving. Neither a dealer nor an independent mechanic was contacted. The contact stated that after shifting to drive(D), the rearview camera failed to turn off as needed. The harsh angle of the windshield and the semi-reflective nature of the dash leads to extreme reflections during sunny conditions. This is a safety hazard that can lead to dangerous situations due to the grey/white blocks and stripes in the drivers vision. This is a widely documented issue with Equinox EVs 2024 and beyond.

If the sun hits the windshield just right, the reflected glare from dash on the windshield makes it dangerously difficult to see the road. Sometimes it is so blinding that I have to slow down well below the speed limit which is also dangerous.

There is severe glare across the entire windshield, caused by the highly reflective surface of the dashboard. This is making it hard to identify small and medium objects in the road such as small cars, bicyclists, pedestrians and street signs. I have noticed my visibility and reaction time is significantly impaired despite staying focused and attentive to my surroundings. It is always reproducible on sunny and partly sunny days; it is often reproducible on cloudy and overcast days. The dash is available for inspection. I've notified the dealership and am awaiting their response. There is no other way to know the problem exists until driving in sunny conditions which was first noticed one day after receiving the car from the dealership.

Windshield has HEAVY glare being reflected from sunlight hitting the dashboard. Almost looks like the entire windshield has a heads up display activated, except it's useless and just my dashboard. This significantly impacts visibility.

The glare on the windshield and side mirrors from the dashboard/vents is unsafe. When driving during the day, I’m unable to clearly see out of windshield and side mirrors, views heavily obstructed by the glare off the interior surfaces of my car. Tinting the windows hasn’t helped the situation at all. Driving with the windows down, helps with the wide mirrors but the windshield glare is so fucked. I wouldn’t have bought this damn car if i test drive it during the day. How does this pass inspection? These cars shouldn’t be on the road in their current state

The relection of the dashboard on to the inside of the windshield is so bad sometimes your vision is obscured

Glare from the dash is distracting and unsafe. I do not have a clear view thru the windshield as the image of the dash is seen in the glass. This should be addressed immediately.

The windshield has a horrible glare on it when exposed to the sun. It makes seeing out the windshield very difficult and can lead to not visually seeing other vehicles, pedestrians, etc. This needs to be fixed by the manufacturer. The problem has not been reproduced or inspected by any independent service or others, yet is a very well know issue on various forums about this vehicle.

There is a design flaw regarding the dashboard reflecting into the windshield. This is probably due to at least one of the following factors: a) the material and reflectivity of the dashboard b) the low angle of the windshield itself. The sun causes a reflection in the windshield that renders the driver functionally blind when driving into the sun at certain angles, and in particular moving from light to shadow. It is highly dangerous and disconcerting.

There is a massive glare that comes up from the dashboard during the daytime. This is widely reported and widely complained about and feels incredibly dangerous, so there are countless pictures showing it. In bright light conditions, it literally makes seeing out the windshield almost impossible without really focusing to look past it. It's honestly amazing this was even allowed to be put into production in the first place.

The dashboard design produces a glare that is visible under almost all lighting conditions. The glare is very distracting and can make it difficult to see in some situations.

Visibility is impacted due to the glare on the windshield from the dashboard sun reflection. Driver visibility is impaired enough to dangerous levels during based on sun reflection angles throughout the day. Traffic lights and lane markers may not be clear due to glare. Seems like many owners are having this problem only. Aftermarket dash mats are available to correct this issue, but it is not a certified product by the manufacturer. Elderly owners may not even be aware of any corrective measures.

Test drove and bought the car on an overcast day. Next day is bright and sunny - the dashboard glares like a mother. What moron designed this Picasso? Did GM R&D even drive the car? The safety hazard is you can’t see the road through the dashboard glare. I’d say that puts myself and others at risk. Should’ve known not to buy American.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 MPH, the red warning lights suddenly were displayed onto the driver's side windshield and the instrument panel malfunctioned and displayed a black screen. The contact stated that the failure was displayed for several seconds before the system rebooted and was self-corrected. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,500.

Bad glare from the front shiny plastic dash section onto the windshield during sunny days. It makes it hard to see and is a hazard.

There is significant reflection of the dashboard onto the windshield, especially in sunlight, that often makes it almost impossible to see adequately out the window. I have had to buy a dash mat to cover the top of the dashboard, which helps, but the parts not covered still reflect. The dash material is a black plastic that reflects too much. This is a serious design flaw in my opinion. I believe Chevrolet should be required to replace this piece with a better design.

Saturday it was very bright and the Sun reflected off the dashboard in this car and put an image of the dash board on the windshield obstructing my vision. It was very hard to see and a pedestrian seemed to pop out nowhere while driving in parking lot. I was either distracted by image of dashboard on windshield or it obstructed view by it either way it prevented me from seing the pedestrian clearly because theres an image of dashboard on the windshield. This seems very dangerous, this is my wife's car and I would hate for her to have to live with killing someone because of reflective dashboard. Hope there is something you can do as its gets bad when your driving down road at 70mph and can barley see out windshield all sudden but it was the close call with the pedestrian that finally motivated me to find someone that could possibly do something about it.

Sun glare from the front windshield makes the visibility low, you see the full reflection of the dashboard of the vehicle, including the reflective silver lining of the infotainment system to the window where the glare from that particular part bounces back to the drivers eye.

The volume control in my vehicle will randomly change volume, up to and including full volume. This has almost caused a few crashes because it is very startling and the only way to lower the volume is to use the steering wheel controls (the volume knob does not accept input when this happens - it has a mind of its own). It is relatively simple to fight the volume when going straight, but it is very hard to do when it happens while trying to maneuver while the wheel is not centered as the controls are not accessible. While always annoying, it is very dangerous when trying to make such a maneuver and losing all concentration by blaring radio or attempting to move my hands on the wheel mid turn. This was a problem from the first day we bought the car and it was noted that my local dealer could fix it under warranty (I purchased from an out of town dealer). That dealer told me that GM was refusing to fix anything, insisting that I wait six months to see if a seemingly unrelated software update fixes the issue. The manager at my dealership has been trying to get approval and did get approval to replace a part in attempt to fix it. That did not work and they are now refusing to replace the other part that has fixed a similar issue for others. I believe they replaced the module that processes the sensor information, but are refusing to replace the sensor (volume wheel) itself. This car would have been crashed by many other drivers who could not cope with such in-vehicle distraction

Every car I’ve ever owned the cruise control disengages once you touch the brakes and does not reengage without pushing the button to say resume. On several occasions, this car has reengaged sometimes many minutes after I’ve touched the brakes multiple times such as in a parking lot or parking garage going around the corner The car resumes cruise, and rapidly accelerates, which is very dangerous in a parking lot or parking garage

At certain sun angles and times of day, the reflection from the dashboard onto the windshield is so strong that it makes it hard to see the road well enough to drive safely.

When the vehicle is in one pedal mode, and the car drive is switched to reverse, the car moves backwards and does not slow down contrary to one pedal mode which does not move unless the accelerator is depressed and will slow down when in forward drive. The 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV does operate in One Pedal Mode in both directions. This is a dangerous situation for EV drivers since the car can backup over a person since the car says it is in one pedal mode but it is not functional in reverse. EV's should not have to simulate torque convertors of ICE vehicles since that was a mechanical issue. This is completely not necessary for the car to move backwards on it own. Period! This behavior is very dangerous and should be corrected in software update to the user.

When bluetooth is on takes the radio out every a couple minutes and you have to keep switching it back and fourth or turn off the Bluetooth to keep the radio playing or music playing

I recently purchased a 2025 Equinox EV LT1 vehicle. Overall, the vehicle is performing well and has a number of safety features that are helpful when driving. As others have also reported, the windshield glare on this vehicle is a weak spot, and without polarized sunglasses, the glare is often severe and distracting. At night, the use of sunglasses is of course not feasible, and occasional glare from headlights and streetlights can compromise the driver's ability to view the road and surroundings. Aftermarket dash covers are available, and that may be what I have to resort to to address the problem until/unless a recall or remedy is available from GM directly. This may seem more like an annoyance than a significant safety issue, but when you are unable to clearly view the environment around you when driving, it is a real problem.

I recently purchased this vehicle. The dash has a horrible reflection in the windshield creating some visibility issues the it is daytime especially in direct sunlight. I am worried that this hindered vision is going put drivers, pedestrians and animals at an increased risk of accidents. This is a known problem among the Equinox EV community, but I was unaware at the time of purchase.

There is intense glare off the dashboard, impairing visibility.

Windshield glare from ribbed dashboard reflection under sunlight is distracting and often obstructs visibility so severely that it’s impossible to drive safely without wearing polarized sunglasses or placing a dark colored dash mat. This is a safety issue and so far GM has not done anything about it.

Michigan vehicle 2000 miles. Vehicle is totally stock. #1 The dash is reflecting on to the windshield more than I've ever seen on any other vehicle. It's really starting to constantly take my focus off what is happening in front of me. #2 Other issue is the blind spot warning system. Most Michigan u-turns are single lanes that turn into two as you're turning in the U. The system is constantly beeping at me for cars that are in the inside lane for no apparent reason. Both issues are very distracting and taking my concentration off the road.
