2021 Chevrolet Blazer complaints

On [XXX], I was driving my Blazer up to our local Museum to grab some information. The Museum is about a mile and a half from my house. When I had left my house, the car was driving like normal. I pulled into a parking spot at the Museum, and I went to shut the vehicle off, and I thought maybe the check engine light had come on but wasn't completely paying attention to the dash. About 10 minutes later I went to restart the vehicle to leave and I noticed the check engine light on. Since the vehicle seemed to be driving okay I thought I could make it home and check the car's computer to see what the issue was. As I was leaving the parking lot I stopped at the end of the parking lot to look before pulling out onto the road and the Blazer said shift to neutral and restart the vehicle. When I did that the vehicle would not start. It would just crank and crank and then it would finally start for a few seconds. I was going to back my vehicle up out of the road but each time I would try the car would die. I am very thankful this did not happen on the highway or even on the freeway. A friend and myself had to push my vehicle back into a parking spot. The DTC code is a P023F. When this happens, you can't technically shift the vehicle into neutral to push it out of the way because the car has to be running to shift. I was able to force it into neutral, however. I made an appointment with Awesome Chevrolet in Chehalis WA and had to have it towed to the dealer. They stated it was the fuel

P0128, AC not working, Steering Assist Reduced, and Temp Gauge not working. Problem caused by faulty ECT wiring. First the problem is the ECT is a two wire (signal + and -) 26 gauge wire running through the ignition coil wire harness. Ignition coil signals are very high voltage and fairly fast frequency which causes a lot of EMI which is easily picked up on a 2 wire voltage based wire set. The ECT wiring should have been a twisted shielded pair if running next to Coil wiring or they could have used a single wire resistance thermistor, but they should have just routed the signal a different way to begin with. This is a design issue and it should be a recall...maybe a class action lawsuit is needed to force them to fix it correctly. The FSB (field service bulletin) fix blames loose connector terminals and it patches the computer software to not include ECT wire failures in the Steering, AC, and temp gauge inhibit logic (overtemp readings will still fail off these functions). Also the P0128 code can come back occasionally.

Upon driving my vehicle twice it shut off on the roadway once on an incline when a message of 2 keys detected and flashed on the dashboard prior to the vehicle shutting off. Vehicle would not restart until 15 minutes later it restarted but the dashboard kept flashing 2 keys detected. There was only one key in the vehicle at the time and the key fob has had the battery replaced upon the first incident which was on 11/14/2024 and the second incident was on 11/16/2024.

The brakes failed on my SUV as I was driving on a city street. Yes it is available for inspection. Losing my breaks almost caused a collision with the car in front of me but due to the distance between the cars and the low speed at the time, I was able to avoid collision and detour into a parking lot where I cruised to a stop with the help of a parking lot space concrete stop. The problem was not reproduced by me but the service center computer diagnostics confirmed break issues. The service center says that the cause was low voltage of the car battery which affected the brakes. This is a very dangerous situation if the vehicle can lose complete braking ability due to a low voltage battery. This is the reason for reporting the issue. They replace the battery and said that should fix the issue. They said the only recourse to avoid this happening again is to replace the battery around every 2 years. The issue was inspected by a service center owned by the manufacturer of my SUV. The warning lamps only occurred as the brake system failed. A message of "Brake System Failure" appeared and the "Check Engine" light came on. Within the previous week of the issue the SUV also had other electrical issues such as the Climate Control interface went out and the rear camera also went out.

Steering assist reduced message comes on and temperature guage goes down to cold not working and after you shut car off fan runs full force for 10 minutes. Shows no check engine light or no codes.

The Radiator has a crack in the upper left front of the core causing the fluid to leak and lose pressure causing the engine to overheat. This is a manufacture defect that has not been addressed as of 10/16/2024. The leak was discovered by a certified GM mechanic at a dealership when doing routine maintenance and inspection. The vehicle has never had any indication or advisory light that would alert the operator. As the engine overheats it can cause many of the other components of the vehicle to disable, including but not limited to the ADAS systems as well as power steering and/or collision safety components. This is a manufactures defect with the aluminum radiator that needs to be addressed immediately. Given the information from multiple GM dealerships the amount of newer low mileage Blazers that have been confronted with this problem is unprecedented. This not only creates a danger for the passengers of the vehicle but also every other vehicle on the road.

Power Liftgate randomly opens when driving or parked. Even when the power switch is turned to off the liftgate will unlock randomly either parked or driving. I have contacted the dealer and GM no recall currently exists. Dealer recommended replacing the latch mechanism which I have ordered to replace myself.

Leaking coolant from bad radiator “just out of warranty”. Roughly $2000 repair estimate

Instrument cluster completely blacked out, providing no information on vehicle speed or status of operation. Operation of a vehicle without instrumentation would seem to be a safety risk. Chevy dealer diagnosed problem as IPC error U0155, installed updated software to correct the problem. The repair was not covered by the extended warranty I purchased through General Motors when I bought the car. I think a defect such as this should be the manufacturers responsibility, I believe GM has a service bulletin out for this problem covering several models of their vehicles. This should be upgraded to a recall.

The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated that oil was leaking from the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the cam shaft carrier needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that there was a separation in the transmission, oil cooler line, valve, and hoses that needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and submitted a complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.

I have a 2021 Chevy Blazer which has had to have two radiators replaced with less than 50,000 miles on the vehicle. The first time was in March of 2023. I took my vehicle in for an oil change and the technician told me the radiator was cracked and all of the coolant was drained from the vehicle. It must have just run out because I regularly check my fluids and the vehicle was not overheating prior to the appointment. The vehicle had about 32k miles on it, so the radiator was covered under warranty. Now in April of 2024 with 49k miles, I take my vehicle in for another oil change and the radiator is cracked, again, with coolant leaking. The technician told me two things that are concerning about this. 1.) This is a known issue on the Blazers that they’ve done multiple repairs on. 2.) There is a piece of plastic under the radiator that catches the coolant when it leaks, making it hard to notice an issue because the coolant doesn’t pool on the ground underneath. My service advisor went to bat for me against GM, who partially paid for the second radiator. This brought my installation cost to $235, even though it was no longer under warranty. Radiators cracking is a serious safety issue because if the driver doesn’t notice the engine overheating, it could cause a vehicle fire putting the occupants and surrounding environment in danger. There are no warning lights on the vehicle to tell you if there is low coolant, other than noticing the temperature gauge when it is too late. I don

I was driving on the highway when my car started operating like it was in neutral. RPMs was high but the car started to stall and slow down and because of it I had to immediately pull over. The car would not go into gear. I attempted to put it in drive ajd press the acceleration pedal but it just revved. Same with putting it in reverse. It's a safety concern because my car could not maintain highway speed and abruptly went stagnant. I had the vehicle towed to dealer and they replaced the entire transmission system. The car always had a shudder feel to it when accelerating from 0 onwards to 40 mph.The day this occurred there was no blatant warning signs.

The failing component is the ESC/power steering. It is available for inspection. It is currently at Bayway Chevrolet in Pearland, Texas. My safety and the safety of others is at risk when the power steering fails not allowing me to turn out of the way from road hazards or even make legal turns. This could result in an auto accident causing bodily injury or death to me or other drivers. Yes, a service shop in Alvin was able to see/reproduce the errors. No, however the vehicle is currently in the shop being looked at by service techs. There were no warning lights, messages, or other indications prior to [XXX] around 2pm EST, when this happened. The vehicle was driven home from work that evening. The vehicle was not driven all day [XXX]. Today, [XXX], I drove the vehicle to the service shop in Alvin, Texas to replace the battery. Around 10:45am EST, the errors/messages came on. I drove back to the battery shop in Alvin and they ran the codes. This is where they were able to feel the steering tighten up. I drove the vehicle to Bayway Chevrolet for repairs. Once I receive an estimate or repair invoice, I would be happy to send that over. I have made numerous complaints to Jeff Schmitt Chevy dealership Dayton, Ohio regarding parking brake being engaged upon starting vehicle even though vehicle is on flat surface. Twice now, last occurring [XXX], while gradually increasing speed to make a left hand turn the vehicle suddenly self-brakes, during acceleration, making a harsh screeching sound. I remove my foot completely from the accelerator before I accelerate again. The initial incident was reported to chevy dealership. No findings have been noted per dealership. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the purge pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.

Receiving 3 different errors on dash display. 1) Action Required- No Remote Detected 2) Action Required- No Remote Detected Press Brake to Restart 3) No Remote Key Wa Detected Place Key In Transmitter Pocket Then Start Your Vehicle. All of these errors are intermittent and have appeared with using 2 different Remotes. Batteries have been replaced also. This in itself is not so much a safety hazard (annoying), but what is intermittently happening is the car shuts down while in drive and in reverse. So far it has not shut down on the freeway but has shut down while on City streets. We have taken it to 2 different GM Dealers a total of 7 times in the last 3 months(currently at the dealer now). Each time the dealer is saying they cannot duplicate the errors. We get it back and within 1 (usually the same day)day it is right back with the errors. Clearly these errors are a nuisance and dangerous if the vehicle shuts down. I have additional service documents and photos and videos but due to the maximum I can provide they are not uploaded.

The breaks make a squealing noise all the time which is concerning. I was told by Beaver Chevrolet that this is normal as the breaks were changed in newer car models. They have made a squealing noise ever since I bought the car brand new. I took the car into Beaver Chevrolet approximately 4 months ago and was told that they were unable to replace the breaks because they "weren't squealing bad enough". They did spray my breaks down, however they told me that once I hit 36,000 miles if the issue was still occuring (which it will be) that I would have to pay to have the breaks sprayed. The issue persisted and the spray they used only lasted a few days. Typically breaks should not squeal unless they have gone bad, which isn't the case here. I find this issue to be a safety hazard as how are customers supposed to know when their breaks actually do go bad if they squeal all the time. The issue was reproduced, but it is unclear what their standard is for determining the actual noise to breaking ratio.

The contact owned a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated while driving 69-70 MPH, the steering wheel strongly pulled to the left side and into the roadway median. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle hit the median and bounced, facing incoming traffic. The contact slammed on the brakes and shifted into park (P). The air bags deployed. The contact was able to exit the vehicle with the assistance of bystanders. Emergency services arrived at the scene but the contact was not transported to the hospital at the time. The contact later received medical assistance and was informed she had sustained soreness on the neck, shoulders and bruises all over the body. Additionally, the contact was advised she had sustained post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot, where it was totaled. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.

The Esc display came up then sutbality sensor show and my back wheel went right. My car flipped twice and then landed on the guardrail.

Tires - purchased vehicle from car dealership two weeks ago. Drivers side rear tire low. Aired up was low again next day. Blow out On freeway tires are unsafe. Per Discount Tire said tire could not be repaired . all four tired unsafe, tread issue. Replaced two rear tires. Unknown when light came on. Tire size 265/45r21 dot A3LMWD 30

While driving on the highway at speeds above 60 MPH, the engine shut off. There was a slight shuttering immediately prior, but no other indication. I had to pull over, across three lanes of traffic, during rush hour, in a fairly heavy rain and became a disabled vehicle on the shoulder. After being towed to the dealer, it was determined that the fuel pump was faulty. The vehicle had 4,954 miles on it so there was no reason for this part to have failed so early.

The radio and all the sound notifications such as turn signals, emergency flashers, crash avoidance, cross traffic, lane departure, and the use of the emergency OnStar system do not work. this has been addressed in GM service information #PIT5971B: Loss OF Audio and OnStar LED is Red - (Apr 3, 2023) GM appears to be addressing this as an inconvenience of not having the entertainment of the radio and not the safety features associated with it. This also includes the use of hands-free cell phone.

On Friday, April 28, 2023, at about 11:30 am, my car, died as I was driving it out of the grocery store parking lot; luckily, it didn’t happen as I was crossing the busy highway. I attempted several times to restart it, with no luck. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of this problem. The vehicle was in the middle of an aisle, blocking the aisle and many cars in parking spots, so I managed to get it into neutral and it backed around into parking spaces where the left rear quarter stopped against the front tire of a Ford F-350. I was actually thankful for the truck as I had no steering or brakes, and I was on a slight hill heading towards the road. I had it towed to the dealership, which was unable to tell me what the problem was before I obtained a ride home at 3:30 pm and that they would call me when they had it figured out. When I returned home, my husband had searched the internet for recalls for the car and was unable to locate any. I called the service department the next day, Saturday April 29, and was told that the problem was the fuel pump control module, which was under warranty, and it could be 3 months before it was fixed as they didn’t have one, and there was a large backorder. The fuel pump module was recalled on other GM vehicles GM #N212382040 and NHTSA campaign #21V739000, and there was another recall by GM on February 6, 2023 Recall #N222372310 that did NOT include the Chevy Blazer.

The contact took both vehicles to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing all eight tires to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 21,000.

My car caught on fire for no apparent reason. Front of car totally destroyed.

The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the tires were not included in the recall. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 20,000.

The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 MPH and attempting to make a left turn, the vehicle stalled. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal aggressively several times to get the vehicle to start moving again. The failure reoccurred while the contact’s daughter was driving and attempting to make a left turn at a green light when the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the failure persisted while driving and attempting to turn to the left. The failure occurred intermittently. The contact stated that only the rear tires would move. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who was unable to find the cause of the failure. The dealer was not able to duplicate the failure. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The approximate failure mileage was 28,000.

I went out to start my car and the light said that it was not reading the key fob because of low battery. I went and got the other key fob which had never been used and had the same result. The car was towed by Chevrolet to the dealer and it has been there for over 3 weeks. They found that it wasn't a faulty key fob but it was the receiver that gets the signal and allows the door locks to open and the engine to start. I tried moving the shift lever, stepping on the brakes, trying the remote start on the key fob and nothing would start the car nor would it lock/unlock the doors. It just kept giving me the notice that it couldn't read the key fob. I called ONSTAR and tried the actions they told me but that did not work either and they said to contact my selling dealer. ONSTAR contacted the Chevy warranty number for a tow truck but at 9PM it was too late for them to make a service call. What if I was out in a parking lot or in a remote area and experienced the same problem with no assistance. I have been trying to find out what the dealer is doing to repair my vehicle but I have to call the GM complaint line in order for them to try and contact the dealer about my car. They finally gave me a rental vehicle since the vehicle is less than 1 year old and only has about 6,000 miles on it.

I had just purchased my vehicle around December 9 2021. On around Decmeber 16, 2021 around 8 am I was driving on the highway 65 miles an hour. & the vehicle came to a complete stop. It kepts saying my fuel tank was empty. I quickly turned off the vehicle & tried turning it on & it did. I dropped it off at the dealership & it came back it was fuel pump. It was supposibly fixed. Comes January 26 vehicle did the same thing gettinf out of work. I got the vehicle back February 17. & today February 19, 2022 the truck did the same thing.

When I am accelerating it seems like my car hesitates to get up to speed, at times feels like it is slipping to get traction. I put my car in AWD and didn't seem to notice the issue, when put back into 2WD, the issue happens, it is not an every time thing, but enough that my husband, who doesn't drive my car a lot noticed it and a coworker who has the same year as mine also has the issue. Of course when I took it into the dealership to have it looked at the car didn't do it, so as far as they are concerned there is nothing wrong with it, which is NOT the case. My husband has a 2020 Blazer and it doesn't have this issue. I understand that it is a different year, but if it has the same engine and transmission I would think there shouldn't be much of a difference in how they both drive. It's very frustrating to spend this much on a vehicle that I leased in May of 2020 and it has been in twice for this issue and the parking break issue (which GM's reasoning as to why this turns on by itself and does not turn off is BS, there is still an issue with this as well) and when serviced there is never anything wrong with it. So could it be an issue with the transmission, traction control or possibly the engine?

The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer. The stated that upon depression of the brake pedal, an abnormal grinding noise would emit from the vehicle without warning. When the contact notified the dealer of the failure, he was informed that they were aware of the failure however, there was no fix for the failure. The contact then received a letter from the dealer where he was informed that a repair was under development. Recently, the contact called the dealer for an update and was informed that no update was available and that the repair remained unavailable. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 429. The VIN was not available.

Car purchased on 5/19/21 with 117 miles on it. It now has 1153 miles and the brakes are grinding. The Chevy dealership states that it needs replacement brake pads, but they are on backorder. I have been uncomfortable driving the car after the dealership said it needed new brake pads and have not driven the car for two days. I can get by another four days, but I have a Dr's appointment this coming Wednesday that requires a 50 mile trip.

The brakes are noisy (like metal to metal, worn out) and the brake pedal is soft. Took the vehicle into the dealer (only 1,000 miles on odometer) they say GM is aware of a problem. How many people will die before this problem is fixed? The problem isn’t corrected, and exists today.

The contact stated that while stopped at a railroad track, the vehicle independently stopped and went into crash mode while on the railroad tracks upon acceleration. The contact shifted the vehicle into reverse and then into park. Once the vehicle was placed into drive, the vehicle resumed normal operation. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where they replaced an unknown module and performed a software update. Despite the repair, the contact stated that the failure persisted. The contact also stated that while driving at 40 mph, the traction control warning light illuminated on the instrument panel as the steering power was reduced. The contact took the vehicle back to the same dealer and the mechanic replaced the rear differential, clutch, and control module. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 4,400

Vehicle only has 700 miles and there is a loud brake grinding noise when slowly down at speeds of around 40 MPH.

Vehicle now has about 1200 and when driving, the instrument cluster panel that digital shows your speed, odometer and other information on my vehicle went blank. It is just a black screen. When this happened, it caused the steering wheel controls for radio volume and turning the station to not work. With this, I have no safety features like lane assist now and can't tell my tire pressure.

HEADLIGHTS FLASH OR STAY ON EITHER LOW OR HI BEAM,HATCH OPENS ITSELF, AWD POPING, NOISE IN DASH, SHIFTING INTO AWD BY ITSELF, TRANSMISSION NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY . THERE IS NO PATTERN AND IT THROWS NO CODES. MAJOR ELECTRIC PROBLEMS. THE KEYLESS ENTRY PAD DIDN'T WORK THE DAY I PURCHASED MY CAR. HAD A NEW ONE INSTALLED 3 PROGRAMS AND NOW ALL THIS STARTED.

WHILE DRIVING THE THE WHOLE DASH GOES BLANK FOR A FEW SECOND, THEN THEN IT REBOOTS AND EVENTUALLY MOST OF IT COMES BACK. HOWEVER, IT DID THIS REPEAT THIS CYCLE AND CANNOT TELL IF MY SIGNALS ARE WORKING OR WHAT MY SPEED IS. I HAVE A VIDEO OF IT HAPPENING. THE CAR HAS 2,700 MILES.. I AM TAKING TO A DEALERSHIP
