Defect. CFMOTO POWERSPORTS, INC. (CFMOTO) is recalling certain 2022-2023 700CL-X motorcycles. The ABS control module software settings may delay braking when the hand brake lever is squeezed two or more times, and therefore lengthen the distance required to stop the motorcycle.

Risk. Delayed braking can extend the distance required to stop, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will update the ABS software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 5, 2023. The contact owns a 2023 CF MOTO ZFORCE 950. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked and the contact was exiting the vehicle, the vehicle independently rolled backwards about 3 to 4 feet. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked near a pond. The contact stated that a large nearby object prevented the vehicle from rolling into the pond. In addition, the contact stated that the parking pawl was fractured. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The contact stated that the vehicle was scheduled for diagnostic test. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53.
