2022 Can-Am Ryker

Defect. Bombardier Recreational Products, Inc. (Bombardier) is recalling certain 2019-2023 Can-Am Ryker motorcycles. The impeller may swell, causing the high-pressure fuel pump to fail.

Risk. A fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pump as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 27, 2024. Owners may contact Bombardier customer service at 1-888-272-9222. Bombardier's number for this recall is Bulletin 2023-10.

Defect. Bombardier Recreational Products, Inc. (BRP) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Spyder RT and 2022-2023 Ryker motorcycles. The brake lights may stay illuminated even if the brake pedal is not pressed. As such, these motorcycles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and associated Equipment."

Risk. Brake lights that remain illuminated can fail to alert other motorists of the rider's intention and increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Depending on the model, dealers will replace the brake light switch, adjust the brake light switch, and/or add a spring to the brake light switch, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 17, 2023. Owners may contact BRP Customer Service at 1-888-272-9222. BRP's number for this recall is 2023-6.

Defect. Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) is recalling certain 2019-2023 Ryker motorcycles. The position light and flasher electrical harnesses in the front fenders may loosen and rub on the tire, leading to a short circuit and resulting in an engine stall while driving.

Risk. An engine stall while driving increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will secure the two harnesses, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 9, 2022. Owners may contact Bombardier customer service at 1-888-272-9222.

Defect. Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP) is recalling certain 2022 Can-Am Ryker motorcycles. The handlebar stem bolt may break unexpectedly due to insufficient thread length.

Risk. A broken handlebar stem bolt can cause a sudden loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Owners are advised to not ride their motorcycle until the remedy is complete. Dealers will clean the threads of the steering column and install a new steering stem bolt, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 14, 2022. Owners may contact BRP customer service at 1-888-272-9222. BRP's number for this recall is 2022-16.

The contact owns a 2022 CAN-AM Ryker. The contact stated that while riding the motorcycle at an undisclosed speed, the motorcycle stalled. The contact attempted to accelerate, but the motorcycle stalled again. The contact pulled over to the side of the road, and the motorcycle shut off unintendedly. The contact was able to restart the motorcycle, but the failure persisted. The motorcycle was ridden to the dealer where it as diagnosed and the failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V855000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 600.

When entering a left hand turn at moderate speed, the vehicle will go into a lurching, bucking, hesitation period, usually when under slight or moderate acceleration. This results in an uncontrolled wobble that will eventually smooth out but can also result in a sudden burst of power that tends to rapidly propel the vehicle further to the left unless the throttle is quickly relaxed. Hard to describe, but the sensation feels like you are being “squirted” out of the turn. I first noticed this barely a month after I took possession of the machine and thought it might be a normal handling trait. As I became more acquainted with the various user’s groups, I find it was not normal and a much more serious problem that apparently hasn’t been successfully addressed by the manufacturer over the years it has been reported. Unlike some of the others who have reported similar occurrences, my vehicle has not displayed any error codes on the display screen, nor has it gone into a limp mode. Due to these conditions, I will not take this vehicle on any road trips for fear of being stranded or involved in an accident being caused by this dangerous handling anomaly. I love this vehicle, but due to this issue, I don’t feel it is safe.

Vehicle developed right wheel wobble on left turns over 90 degrees, when speed is ~40 mph or above. Unable to safely make turn, at speed. 3 trips to dealership, issue persists. Vehicle threw a “VSS fault” and went into “limp mode” preventing me from driving over 40mph - was in the mountains, 60 miles from home. Serious safety issue, feel unsafe on the vehicle, no longer willing to ride.

Vehicle repeatedly goes in to limp mode for VSS faults related to steering codes. Dealers are unable to repair and report that many other of the same model have the same problem. Many other owners in the online community report the same issue with no fix in sight. The vehicle is essentially unusable and the manufacturer does not appear to have any intent to remedy the situation.

Bike intermittently goes into limp mode for VSS fault and codes related to the steering rate/yaw sensor. Had the problem confirmed and the manufacturer-recommended steering upgrade done by local Can-am dealer but the VSS fault and limp mode still happens, intermittently. My understanding, from reading forums online, is that this is a very common issue. I would rather they turn the VSS system off entirely than than have the vehicle be nearly unusable at random intervals. Getting slowed down to a max speed of 50 mph here in AZ where most of the highway speeds are 65 mph or higher, with no warning, is quite dangerous and nerve-wracking. I live right off of a 65 mph highway so driving a bike that randomly limits itself to 50 mph is not safe, let alone convenient.

The issue with my 2022 rally my dealership said they can recalibrate the sensor but this is the 2nd time it has been braking. I was coming home and on sharp curves roads it start to brake left but turning right was fine i was able to go around 50mph but going left it was slowing me down to 10-35mph i even had a guy in a BMW tailgate me because my bike would slow down. This is extremely dangerous and can get me killed.

Additionally, the contact stated that the motorcycle had failed to start several times. The contact stated that when the motorcycle was started, the motorcycle idled roughly. The motorcycle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the battery had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact purchased and replaced the battery; however, the failure persisted. The motorcycle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 900.

I took my bike in shortly after I purchased it advising that it was not reading the gas properly and as I drive the gas mileage went up The fuel gauge reads full but not the mileage. Once the tank was almost empty the fuel light came on even though 2 miles before the gauge read full. When I took it to Ride now on rancho they said that there was nothing they could do and I needed to contact the manufacturer. I called them and they told me to take it back to the dealership and call once I was there even though I was already told there was nothing they could do. I’ve read numerous complaints about this same issue yet there has not been a recall for this. Only for the fuel pump which I just had done in hopes of rectifying the situation however it did not it still reads 110 miles to empty. Although it supposed to get 32 miles to the gallon of a 5.2 call on tank

At random, the bike feels like it has a severe rear wheel wobble when negotiating a left-hand curve. It's a frequent occurrence but inconsistent and unpredictable. I took it to an independent repair shop and my local dealership but the technicians were unable to duplicate the problem on their test rides.

On left hand turns only never right turns, if you are going over 30 mph the ABS/Stability controls turns on and make the wheels wobble and slows it down in the turn. This abrupt slow down cause vehicles behind me to slam on breaks because there is no brake lights warning them of the slow down. I took it to a shop and after a month in the shop, they replaced the yaw rate sensor which did not fix the issue. I have put the bike in the garage for a month now because it is too dangerous to drive until this issue is solved.

Riding at 70 went into vss mode shutdown to 55 on I80 every bad in traffic

When making left turns, vehicle's rear tire wobbles severely. When doing this, it also causes the handle bars to try and straighten out during the turn almost causing the vehicle to hit a curb or guardrail. This only happens on left turns, never on right turns. After incident, the rear tire suspension feels spongy. I have taken the vehicle back to the dealer for this issue. The had it for 5 weeks and could never reproduce the issue. I have also contacted Can Am BRP about this issue who only recommended that I take the vehicle back to the dealership.

My vehicle start to lose control when I drive around left or right corner the rear end felt like it was bucking or slipping. The VSS fault error and Limp Mode kicked in and the speed doesn't really matter once you are over 20 mph. My vehicle is at the dealership as of 8/13/23 to replace the pitman arm to see if that fix the problem. The VSS fault error happens about 4 times since I brought the vehicle.

I have a 2022 Can-Am Ryker 900 sport. when I purchased it around a week or two later, my left brake and wheel started squeaking loud. I returned it to the dealer. One of the service men said its brand new brakes and tires give it time to wear down.low brake warning came across the screen and my handlebars started feeling loose,a lot of play. I returned it again. They checked my handlebars and fixed my front truck and said my brand new brakes were fine. It wasn’t my handlebars. It was my suspension starting to malfunction making my left brake pad wear uneven low brake warning came across again. I returned it again for the recalls the service man assured me this will fix my problem. last night August 5,2023 I was out, riding with friends, proceeded into a curve, and my handlebars would not allow me to turn my wheels. My left wheel seemed as though it was trying to lock up. I could not turn the curve.it started to do what they call the Death turn. Two of my friends almost ran into the back of me because the bike slowed itself down, My check engine light started flashing VVS fault code came across the screen, I end up hitting the curb scratching my rim, and now the bike is on limp mode.

The cruise control will disconnect randomly causing sudden deceleration. Sometimes it will go off almost immediately after setting it and others it may stay engaged for several miles. It disengaging randomly is a safety issue as I’m not expecting the sudden deceleration and it could cause a vehicle that is following closely to hit me. This issue has been present since I purchased the vehicle and it has been looked at 3 times by the dealer. The first time they adjusted the brake pedal switch, the second time that switch was replaced under recall and the last time the cruise control cable was replaced.

Steering & traction control issues. My ryker has issues turning right under acceleration , like merging onto highway. The bike want to traction control .?This has happened multiple times .

On left hand turns only, even at lower speeds, the VSS system is kicking in, preventing safe control of the vehicle, was almost rear ended today when my vehicle refused to accelerate out of a left hand curve, speeding rating curve was 20mph, I was doing 10mph. This occurs frequently to varying degrees on a regular basis, always on left hand turns only. It's never happened on a right hand trun or curve.

I had a VSS Fault and engine power cut off while coming in a left turn. Rear tire became wobbly and almost threw me off. Bike went to limp mode and slowed down. Had engine codes C006C and C0063 which are common problems with the steering and engine going to limp mode
