Defect. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2025-2027 Cadillac OPTIQ vehicles. When closed using the key fob's express-up function, the front windows may fail to detect an obstruction and reverse direction. As such, these vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 118, "Power-Operated Window Systems."

Risk. A closing window that does not reverse direction as expected can pinch a passenger before retracting, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy. The body control module (BCM) software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 21, 2026. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N262567230. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on September 24, 2026.

I had just pulled into a parking space and was positioning the vehicle to park. I was about to put the vehicle into Park when the vehicle suddenly jolted/accelerated forward unexpectedly. The vehicle went forward over/into the curb and struck the wall. The forward acceleration was unexpected and was not something I intended the vehicle to do. Because this is a new vehicle, I am very concerned that there is a vehicle, software, propulsion, braking, or electronic-control issue. I will be requesting that the vehicle and all available electronic data related to the incident be preserved and that Cadillac/GM conduct a technical investigation before any repair, software update, reprogramming, reset, or deletion of diagnostic information is performed. Even after the recommended repairs, I am very concerned about driving this car with my children in it if they can't tell me why it jumped forward.

Vehicle Speed Control
Filed Oct 19, 2026CA

This is the second report I am submitting for this vehicle: On October 17, at approximately 12:46 PM, I was driving my 2027 Cadillac Optiq from my home to Trader Joe’s (about two miles away from my home) when the car suddenly lost acceleration. My speed dropped from 30 mph to about 19 mph even though I was pressing the accelerator pedal. The car felt progressively heavier, as if the brakes were being applied. I stopped at a stop sign and turned on my hazard lights. When I started driving again, the car seemed to operate normally, and I drove it home and parked it. This is the second time the vehicle has lost power while driving. The first incident was on September 23, 2026, on northbound SR-163 in San Diego, when the car slowed to about 10 mph and displayed the message “Charging incomplete. Try another charger” with the battery at 80%. The car had to be towed to North County Cadillac in Escondido, and the dealership later reported finding no problem. I also filed an NHTSA report about that incident.

Electrical System
Filed Sep 27, 2026CA

On Wednesday, September 23, at around 7:00 AM, as I was driving on the northbound 163 Freeway in San Diego, my car suddenly lost power and began gradually limping to a staggering 10 mph speed among all the rest of the cars whizzing by me at 70 mph. The dashboard displayed a message that said “charging incomplete, try another charger” in spite of the fact that my battery was shown to be 80% full. At 10 mph, I could barely control the vehicle to get it more safely toward the shoulder of the road. I immediately activated the in-vehicle SOS system, but a tow truck did not arrive for about 80 minutes, during which I sat exposed on the shoulder of an active freeway.

Reading this record

No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
