2026 Cadillac Escalade IQ

Defect. General Motors, LLC is recalling certain 2026 Cadillac Escalade IQ, Escalade IQL, GMC Sierra EV, Chevrolet Silverado EV, and 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup vehicles. The high voltage battery may have an improperly secured internal module component.

Risk. A loose component may move and damage the high voltage battery, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the high voltage battery, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 24, 2026. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223, GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, and Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N262562600. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on July 30, 2026.

Defect. General Motors has decided that certain 2027 Chevrolet Bolt EV, 2025-2026 Cadillac OPTIQ, Chevrolet Colorado, Equinox EV, GMC Canyon, 2026 Buick Enclave, Envision, Cadillac CT5, Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade IQ, Escalade IQL, LYRIQ, VISTIQ, Chevrolet Blazer EV, Corvette Convertible, Corvette Coupe, Corvette Convertible E-Ray, Equinox, Silverado 1500, 2500, 3500, Silverado EV, Suburban 1500, Tahoe, Traverse, GMC Acadia, Hummer EV Pickup, Hummer EV SUV, Sierra 1500, 2500, 3500, Sierra EV, Terrain, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. The radio may not have been set to the correct status to download the electronic owner's manual during production. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, “Occupant Protection.”

Risk. Without an owner's manual to consult, owners may not know how to safely use and operate the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will reset the vehicle radio, which will facilitate automatic download of the electronic owner’s manual, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 16, 2026. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-866-467-9700, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223. An over-the-air software update installed on my 2026 Cadillac Escalade IQ on September 11, 2026 removed the side-view camera display that previously appeared on the center infotainment screen whenever the turn signal was activated. Before the update, activating the right turn signal displayed a live video feed of the right side of the vehicle, which I relied on because the passenger-side exterior mirror provides a poor, narrow field of view (flat mirror with a bad angle, and no auto-dimming at night). After the update, no camera view appears and the mirror alone is inadequate, leaving the right-side blind spot completely unchecked when changing lanes or merging right. This safety-relevant feature worked correctly before the manufacturer's update and was disabled by it. I have also filed a safety complaint with Cadillac/GM customer assistance on September 12, 2026. No crash, injury, or property damage has occurred yet, but the vehicle is now meaningfully less safe to drive, and I request that NHTSA investigate this software change.

This is a follow-up and correction to my NHTSA complaint XXX, filed XXX. Correction: the over-the-air software update installed on my 2026 Cadillac Escalade IQ on XXX did not remove the side-view camera display feature; it reset the 'side camera view on turn signal' setting to off. I re-enabled the setting myself on XXX and the feature works again. My concern remains that the manufacturer's update silently changed a safety-relevant driver-assistance setting without any notice to me, and I only discovered it while driving. More importantly, I want to raise the underlying issue: the passenger-side exterior mirror uses flat (non-convex) mirror glass with a poor viewing angle and no auto-dimming at night, which gives an inadequate field of view of the right-side blind spot. Nearly all vehicles sold in the [XXX] use convex passenger-side mirrors for a wider field of view — that is why they carry the 'objects in mirror are closer than they appear' warning — but this vehicle does not. I consider the non-convex passenger mirror design itself a visibility safety defect and request that NHTSA review both the silent settings reset caused by the OTA update and the non-convex passenger mirror design.
