Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Dodge Hornet and 2023-2026 Alfa Romeo Tonale vehicles. The rear outboard seat belts may become twisted and fail to retract properly.

Risk. A seat belt that does not retract may fail to restrain properly an occupant as intended, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the retractors and pillar trim, as necessary, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed September 17, 2026. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 84D. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on August 15, 2026.

The manufacturer has mailed me a letter stating the rear seat belt retractor needs repair. It states my vehicle meets the need for repair. It states seatbelts that do not freely retract or maintain tension do not provide the designed occupant restraint function, which can increase the risk of injury to occupants during certain types of crashes. The remedy for this condition is not currently available.
