2021 Airstream Interstate Nineteen

Defect. Airstream, Inc. (Airstream) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Basecamp, Bambi, Atlas, Interstate, and Interstate 19 travel trailers equipped with certain 2-burner cooktops. The burner control valves may become damaged, causing a gas leak.

Risk. A gas leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect, and if necessary replace the cooktop, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 7, 2022. Owners may contact Airstream customer service at 1-877-596-6505 or 1-937-596-6111 ext. 7401 or 7411.

Defect. Airstream, Inc. (Airstream) is recalling certain 2021 Interstate Nineteen vehicles. The buss bar circuit breaker may have been incorrectly wired.

Risk. The wire may overheat, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Dealers will relabel and relocate wires, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 6, 2021. Owners may contact Airstream customer service at 1-877-596-6505 or 1-937-596-6111 ext. 7401 or 7411.

The whole instrument cluster went dark suddenly while driving. I had no idea what speed I was going. Eventually I was able to safely pull over to check what was happening. There were no warnings. We checked the instrument cluster dimming and this made no difference. We tested the lights, indicators and brake lights and all were functioning. It was very disconcerting. As we were in small town there was no Mercedes dealer to check with. I did a quick search and found some interesting comments saying it's a "common" fault and giving suggestions on how to fix it. Seems the best way is to disconnect the battery power for several minutes and then restart the vehicle. This worked for us. This is a most unsatisfactory incident and should be fully investigated as a safety issue.
