2020 Triumph Rocket 3 GT

Defect. Triumph Motorcycles America, Ltd. (Triumph) is recalling certain 2020 Rocket 3 TFC, 2020-2024 Rocket 3 R, Rocket 3 GT, 2022 Rocket 3 GT Triple Black, and Rocket 3 R Black motorcycles. The rear brake master cylinder may fail to move fluid through the system properly, requiring an extended distance to stop.

Risk. Extended stopping distance increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the rear brake master cylinder, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 20, 2023. Owners may contact Triumph's customer service at 1-678-854-2010. Triumph's number for this recall is SRAN 611.

Defect. Triumph Motorcycles America, LTD (Triumph) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Rocket 3 GT, Rocket 3 R, and 2020 Rocket 3 TFC motorcycles. Air could have entered the antilock brake system (ABS) modulator while the rear brake system was filled during production.

Risk. Over time, the air in the ABS modulator can deteriorate rear braking efficiency, increasing the distance required to stop and the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Triumph will notify owners, and dealers will bleed the rear brake system, free of charge. The recall began December 18, 2020. Owners may contact Triumph customer service at 1-678-854-2010. Triumph's number for this recall is SRAN 587.

The rear brake system on my 2020 Triumph Rocket 3 GT has failed repeatedly since purchase. After 2–3 rides, the rear brake progressively fades and then loses all braking force. The defect has been reproduced six times over multiple years and is documented in six repair orders. The motorcycle is available for inspection. The safety risk is loss of rear braking while riding. The motorcycle has been returned to me in unsafe condition, including loose handlebars and a heat shield falling off after service. My father witnessed these conditions. The dealership (Northern Colorado Powersports) confirmed the brake failure but only performed temporary brake bleeds and one brake line replacement. They told me major components—including the rear master cylinder—were replaced, but my printed service records show this never occurred. They also told me Triumph Corporate “denied the claim,” but Triumph Corporate later confirmed in writing that no claim or technical case was ever submitted for my VIN. The motorcycle has not been inspected by Triumph Corporate or any independent inspector. No police or insurance inspections have occurred. There were no warning lamps or messages. The only symptom is progressive brake fade leading to complete rear brake failure after a few rides. This defect is part of NHTSA Recall 23V730000 (Safety Recall 611), but the required recall repair was never performed, never reported, and never submitted to Triumph Corporate.

After Triumph recall myself and many rocket owners are still experiencing brake failure on our bikes. We are being forced by triumph to dealer to bleed brakes at our cost. This does not fix the issue as brakes keep failing. Additionally, on my bike this is causing the hill hold indicator light to indicate hill hold is active, when in fact it is not active. This is a safety issue.

The contact owns a 2020 Triumph Rocket 3 GT. The contact stated that the rear brake master cylinder failed to move fluid through the system properly, which required an extended distance to stop the motorcycle. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V730000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); and associated the failure with the recall; however, after the repair was performed twice, the failure persisted. The dealer was notified of the most recent failure. The motorcycle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,849.

Triumph has issued a recall for rear brakes failing that does NOT fix the issue. Myself and many other owners are experiencing multiple rear brake failures after several recall attempts. I have had my rear brakes fixed by recall 3 times, including an ABS modulator replacement and my brakes are going bad again. This is an extreme safety issue and someone is going to get seriously injured.

The rear brake pedal when pushed goes all the way down and does not actuate the rear brake at all. This failure affects the breaking safety of the motorcycle substantially.

Triumph issued a recall (SRAN 587) regarding the rear braking system. I have had the bike to the dealer twice in which they replaced the rear ABS module and bled the brakes and the problem continues. I have scheduled to take it in for servicing again on 4/28/2022. They have no remedy besides frequent bleeding of the brakes at their expense. I told them I was wanting to sell the bike due to the issue but didn't want to just pass this dangerous issue along to another rider. They said they could at least have them fixed temporarily so I could get it sold. (Scary) I know that this is a common issue on the Rocket 3 message boards and I am investigating a class action lawsuit. The rear brakes are so dysfunctional, I must pump them repeatedly to have any pressure and braking at all, even then I must gear down and utilize the front brakes almost exclusively. This is extremely unsafe and ridiculous considering the high cost of this motorcycle, $23000 or more dollars.

The rear brake failed completely. No pressure from the ABS system. There is a recall for this issue and it was already completed. The dealer confirmed the problem happened a second time and performed the recall procedure a second time. Many people have had repeat failures of their rear brake, including myself.

The turn indicators on my motorcycle will randomly fail and the display will read “ left front indicator failure” etc. This has happened on all four indicators and the fault will continue until the motorcycle is shut off. This happens almost daily on one of the four indicators. There is a very real danger of other drivers not knowing of your turning because of an indicator malfunction. Through social media I have learned that this is a problem numerous Rocket 3 owners are having and Triumph has been aware of the problem for months now and has not corrected the issue. I took mine to my local Triumph service department and they were able to duplicate the problem but had no solution stating they contacted Triumph for support. It has been two weeks and no reply or remedy has been received from Triumph. There has also been a problem with the rear brakes fading and with some owners the rear brakes have completely stopped working. I took mine to the Triumph service department and they performed the recommended brake bleeding procedure. The brakes were better for three days then went back to the same fading condition. This is also a common problem with 2020 and newer Rocket 3 according to numerous social media posts.
