CPSC: X1310681A. MAYTAG MAGIC CHIEF STOVE. CONSUMER STATED THE STOVE STARTED TO MALFUNCTION AFTER 18 MONTHS. *LN THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE LIT THE OVEN, IT PRODUCED A YELLOW SMOKEY FLAME, INSTEAD OF A BLUE FLAME. HE SHIFT IT OFF, LET IT COOL AND INSPECTED THE OVER BURNER. THE BURNER AIR INTAKE WAS CLOSED BY THE METAL SLEEVE DAMPER. HE ROTATED THE SLEEVE TO THE OPEN POSITION. WHEN HE LIT IT AGAIN, THE BURNER HAD A PROPER BLUE FLAME. WHILE DRIVING, THE SLEEVE WOULD ROTATE CLOSE, WHICH REQUIRED HIM TO REACH IN AND ROTATE IT OPEN, PRIOR TO THE USE OF TRAVEL. THE CONSUMER STATED HE DISASSEMBLED THE STOVE TO EXPOSE THE BURNER, AIR INTAKE AND BURNER JET ORIFICE. HE DISCOVERED THE SLEEVE WAS LOOSE AND OFF CENTER FROM THE JET ORIFICE. HE BELIEVED HE PERMANENTLY SOLVED THE PROBLEM BY DRILLING AND PLACING A SELF-TAPPING SCREW TO HOLD THE DAMPER, SECURELY, IN THE OPEN POSITION. *TR
